  1. Thank you for your input, fortunately I had read the directions on the tin and was thus well aware that it was "not a simulation of the classics". There is however a thread in the forum claiming that it is possible to change the colours, however not being a Boeing engineer I obviously had no way of knowing for sure... Therefore I did the obvious thing and politely sought the information in the forum!Regards,Gustav.
  2. Hi all, just a quick question, having seached all the docs and forum, is it possible to change the colour of the text in the NGX FMC? Used to be available on the Queen and the original 737 but sadly appears to be unavailable now.And before you ask... I just like green text!Thanx in advance.Regards,Gustav.
  3. Ash,Very pleased to hear it has helped, having read your excellent original post I felt obliged to share what I knew having suffered almost exactly the same problems. Just hope other simmers will find this page.Regards,Gustav.
  4. David, Who has mentioned Active Sky or weather engine in my posts? And why should we not "be setting compatibility for fsx"? Already two posters have just proved that statement to be complete nonsense. Regrettably however your original post could well have the effect of putting others off using this solution. You do appear determined to keep digging, when most people who find themselves in a hole would have stopped! Do please however have regard for people perhaps new to PMDG seeing a poster on the forum with umpteen dozen posts making rash and unfounded statements condemning a solution that is proved to have WORKED.regards,Gustav.
  5. Perhaps you can explain then how I managed to cure several months of erratic autopilot behavior by doing just this? This is a proven FACT!The things you have suggested have been advocated several hundred if not thousands of times by just about everybody and yet there are still a lot of people coming on the forum with this sort of problem. So... rather than rushing to condemn my original post and cause people to spend good money on more software, perhaps you should open your mind to the possibility that just perhaps there is another way.Regards,Gustav.
  6. These all sound rather like a compatibility issue, particularly if you previously had the PMDG 747 running in Win XP... If it is, then a cure for Win 7 & probably Vista, (but not tested.)Right click the desktop icon to start FSX then click “Troubleshoot compatibility”. Do not accept the “recommended setting” but elect to “Troubleshoot program” then click “I don't see my problem listed”. Now click next... you may then find that FSX has been running under XP service pack 2! Instead select XP service pack 3.Hopefully this should cure the A/P problems described. Do please let the forum know the results for your particular setup. Regards,Gustav.
  7. Hi Ash, sorry for extra posts, mixed up with new system! This sounds rather like a compatibility issue, if it is – then a cure for Win 7 & probably Vista, (but not tested.)Right click FSX then click “Troubleshoot compatibility”. Do not accept the “recommended setting” but elect to “Troubleshoot program” then click “I don't see my problem listed”. Now click next... you may then find that FSX has been running under XP service pack 2! Instead select XP service pack 3.Hopefully this should cure the A/P problems you describe.Regards,Gustav.
  8. >>If you have a multicore processor get the patch, Correction...service pack 1.Gustav.
  9. For instance, should I install the service pack 1?> Should I be doing the other tweaks I find on the forums, or>should I wait for recommendations from PMDG?>Thanks for any help.>DonIf you have a multicore processor get the patch, it doubles frame rates immediately. If you don
  10. Hi, "Old" people were all once your age.... ;( So just be pleased that you have wisely chosen an engrossing hobby, able to attract people from all ages and walks of life as you have just shown with your post. The quality of the H/W and S/W comming onto the market today makes us more mature simmers envy you your simming future. Have fun and learn.Regards,Gustav. Oh bye the way I'm 72 and retired from Government Service. I actively participate in online flying and thoroghly enjoy all the PMDG creations. (can't wait till they are upgraded for FSX.) First saw FS.Ver.1 on an Apple Mac which I could never have afforded, fortunately very shortly it became available on the PC. I was smitten, and have bought every single version since! G. :-violin
  11. Hi Freek!Welcome aboard, many happy hours await you with PMDG.e-mail me at:- gustavm@f2s.comI will forward a copy of Timothy M. Metzinger's original "Advanced Operations Tutorial" for the NG 737. :) Regards,Gustav.
  12. >Not a happy bunny! :-violin >>Regards,>Gustav. At last on the 6/7 attempt! Also wasted a lot of time on this link on the website: - "For order and download support, or to request a new download link, please visit SimMarket at http://www.simmarket.com" Having had a previous order with these people the query was processed so far before becoming apparent it was tracking the wrong order number...! All very time consuming. :-hmmm Regards,Gustav.
  13. Just purchased ASV upgrade version and am unable to download!Four attempts (Anti virus/Firewall off.) each time zip is incomplete (only 8Mb/65Mb.) Also very slow, 49 Kb on a 2MB BB connection. Computer has now been tied up for several hours! Not a happy bunny! :-violin Regards,Gustav.
  14. >Hi Stian,>>You're right its a scarebus, apologies to the 73!>ARMEN at EGLL Very interesting pictures, but can I just remind you that there is NO such aircraft! Have you ever considered that many people find rather foolish remarks like this offensive? (Have you so quickly forgotten the slight problem with centre tank wiring in a 747? Or certain rudder problems on the 737?) Aircraft production provides a lot of revenue and jobs both sides of the Atlantic; ill-advised statements like this do nothing for either side. So please have a little thought before again repeating this inaccuracy.Regards,Gustav.
  15. >Itai, sorry but this doesn't sound very nice to me.>I don't know how old are you but this is a very childish and>not representative comment from an Israeli responsible>person.>"Lo mekubal bikhlal kan". >>David in JerusalemDavid in Jerusalem,Sir, I'm not just sure "how old you are" either. Or, how mature... You appear to have arrived at rather disturbing conclusions, lashing out at the original author for what looks to most people, like a casual throwaway remark on a forum in the midst of a feeding frenzy. This is after all a game!Have a nice day.Gustav
  16. >What does it all mean? Use Autobrake 2 in general and a big>handful of reverse :DBrad,How nice to come to the forum and find a helpfull and informative post. Not the whinging and constant "I want" we have recently experienced.... You have made my day! Thank you. :-wave Regards,Gustav.
  17. >OK - here goes:>>1) They're round.>>2) You were looking at older pics.>>3) ?? 50/50 here. If you were looking at someone who was>pitching up, you'd see more sky than ground, and vice versa>;-).>>4) Tilting implemented (now, if you cry wolf, for the drop of>1.5FPS on average, that's NOT my fault :-))>>5) Carrier option.>>6) Ditto. (I modified it so that CRT screens will not carry>the 60-deg tick mark, while the LCD ones will).>>>Now, let's concentrate on REAL issues ;-).Like the dinner menu! }( Now... About that wine list again! :+ gustav.
  18. >:( I think my mind was drifting again while writing that>:-lolNow... About that wine list again! :+ gustav.
  19. Whats all this with the "virtual" part?regards,Gustav. :+
  20. I am very disappointed not to have seen any mention of the first class dinner menu so far. we have after all been in beta for several weeks now, yet not one mention! Of even more concern though, whether or not the captain definitely still has first choice? Will this be properly simulated on the final release? Will it also be in the manual? Not wanting to whinge about trivia I do however really feel the time has come for the beta testers to get their priorities right, highlighting and reporting things of significance. I too don't want to be shouted at, nor to waste the testers time, however I'm sure PMDG must be aware just how important things like this are to mature simmers, requiring their vitals frequently and on a regular basis... (Rather like the toilet, even without a window.) So, no more nonsense then about wipers, aerials and the like let us focus on the more critical elements mentioned above! Now... About the wine list!! ;)Kindest regards to the PMDG team for creating and thoroughly testing what looks to be every simmers dream.... Gustav.
  21. Hi,Lots of helpfull pages like this once you start looking, and perhaps slightly easier for the novice... http://home.houston.rr.com/maddatshell/Regards,Gustav.
  22. No problems so far with any any aircraft including PMDG.Regards,Gustav.
