  1. I've seen something about this before but----where?I've had FS for 2+ years. Lots of aircraft and some scenery.Starting last night when I try to load FS it stops at 56% and says- " Completing setup... 'something' scenery file indexes." And stops. The only thing I did from the day before was to add a repaint from here at AVSIM for the Fokker 28. So I deleted the paints but still FS won't load.I defrag (just the Windows XP defragger) about every week and may have done one between the last successful FS load and the failed one. I forget., But I'm quite sure the defrag I did was before installing the new paint. If anyonje has a suggestion I'd love to get flying agian. Thanks,
  2. Wow, That pilot is really workin' his butt off !:-jumpy Great shot, though...I'm jealous...
  3. Hey John,That's really interesting..the isle of Calypso. I've forgotten whatever Homer I ever read way back when. I do play calypso in a couple steel bands.. and now you have gotten me interested in YOUR calypso..so--The Odyssey would be perfect at this time..And although I knew Cousteau's first ship was Calypso I had no idea of its history..It is a small world. And the Fokker 28 is FANTASTIC!
  4. Martin. For what it's worth, when I bought my first Feel There aircraft several years ago I also was NEVER able to sucessfully register for the forum or any kind of help. I spent days emailing and running around in circles, getting the same robot replies that you did. I found it insulting and finally just gave up and said the heck with them. I just come here with questions and the help and discussions have been very generous and useful.. I enjoy their aircraft very much, but as for help... later, man. This is just my own experience.
  5. Hey John, Just curious.. how did you select "Calypso" as your 'stage name"? I've been a pan player for years and wonder if you are also...
  6. Steve, Wow! That's weird. I 'saved image location" and when I clicked on the links they worked. But I also didn't look at my post after posting...Here are the URLs -I like all four so I will let you choose one..Isn't there a way to post a link without it being so long? I've done it before but.. ??And (we are hijacking the thread.) :-doh Champion Airhttp://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1001...FP&photo_nr=278Atlantic Air Assistancehttp://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1167...QRFP&photo_nr=4Swift Air-- white with blue dotshttp://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1117...RFP&photo_nr=95Aerojet--green stripehttp://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1041...FP&photo_nr=214Cheers,
  7. Hi Steve,That's very kind of you to offer.. I'd be glad to take you up on it.Having just spent about an hour at Airliners.net, I started out with about 15, got it down to 10.. etc.. This plane really lends itself to some nice liveries...The first is the most unusual, butI find all interestingSo, if it is ok, I'll let you choose one... http://us.airliners.net/photos/middle/7/5/6/1001657.jpg http://us.airliners.net/photos/middle/8/4/5/1117548.jpg http://us.airliners.net/photos/middle/6/9/2/1167296.jpg http://us.airliners.net/photos/middle/0/4/7/1041740.jpg Thank you again,
  8. Hey, Stave,Ah man, don't go putting your time into painting other planes.. Every day when I come home from work I look at the new files here to see if you've done another 120.:-) ( I don't dare look in the "What's new" file section.. that would ruin the surprise....Just kidding, it's always great to see your wonderful work on any aircraft you chose to paint. I have a 340 also but it's not a free one.... If you paint the FFG, I'd get it..Thanks for all your efforts...
  9. Hi Brent,I made the change you suggested--.---------------gauge77=Kingair!AutoFeather_Light, 470,304,54,16//gauge78=737.WCgpws, 807,321,16,16---------------Hooray!! That was th easy part, and JEff.. I'll still work on your ideas when I have that feee time...and report in :-) Cheers...
  10. Jeff and Brent,Thank you again. As soon as I have a couple straight hours I will get to work on the sound.. and report back..Calypso forever..
  11. Hello Jeff, I haven't had time yet to do any flyinf.. too usy with real world stuff. BUT I certainly will try your suggestions.
  12. Hi Jeff,Well, what an education this has been. :>)Looking in Sound cfg files,, listening to sounds-- learning aliases. etc.. several different 'altitude callouts" - versions that I have never even heard before..One set in question is in the AS738 folder in the FS9 SOUND folder..Where can I find the - Windows sound recorder..? I found the Windows SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES but that won't do it.Thanks again---
  13. Thanks for all that info Jeff. I check things out and report back..And Rob, check out Jeff,s sig.. see what I mean. I don't even know what most of that stuff is.. :-lol Jeff, you got me beat.. :>)
  14. Hi Rob, Worlds away yet so close..Well, I don't see what in the Panel cfg i would delete. To get rid of a few other sounds(overspeed and Ap disconnect), I listened to each sound clip until i found the ones I wanted to delete. But I haven't found one for "500, 400, 300" Scares me to death on every approach. It's LOUD!!It is Adam Murphy's sound set...I'll ask him...Favorite repaints.. humm I just install everone Steve Drabek comes up with--This week I'm kind partial to paints with Daniel Halperin's metal engines.I like--Skywest #1..Comair, Atlantic SE, Ocean Air Orange, they're all great..sometimes I just load one up, take off fly a bit, reload another one, take off, just to look at them at 'dusk".....Ok the truth about my machines---.. SIZE counts, eh? And no way I can match some guy's "rigs" out here---although I don't have any complaints with mine. :-cool I still have the Healy, Tiger, R-50 and K-100.. On the road I like the Healy and the K-100.. Around town I like the Tiger and the R-50 because nobody knows what they are. And I still think Bimmers should be BLACK!! Not all those 'cutsie" colors. :-) The Healy was practically a 'gift' from my old college roomate.. long story..Thanks for the suggestion...
  15. Loving flying the great EMB 120 by Eric Cantu and all Steve's et al super repaints... I have Horst Paetzold's panel AND I 'think" his sounds with his panel ?? I'm not sure but I did replace the default..Can't find what sounds exactly I have.. But-- is there a way to take out the altitude warnings when landing "500 FEET", etc?By playing the sound files I have gotten out a few others but can't find this one..Cheers on a gorgeous Sat afternoon, here anyway in up-state NY.
  16. Thanks Jim for the guidance to that thread on the DW forum. Turns out that was about the Dash 8-400- BUT I spent a couple hours reading it and trying a gazillion changes to the -400 cfg and learned a great deal. And thanks JP for the cfg changes. perfect...SUCCESS! I have no clue what all those numbers mean, so I'm really grateful for the help of someone with so much more experience than I have.Best wishes to both you guys.... :-beerchug
  17. I posted this over at the Dreamwings forum, but it's a little quiet.. so, if it's ok I'll ask here..I installed the Dreamwings Dash 8 --100. 200. 400The 100 and 200 bounce when sitting on the runway and during the take-off run-- the front gear bounces anywhere from a little to the entire plane bouncing/pivoting around the main gear like a seesaw on speed. :>)Does anyone have a suggestion as to what might be the problem? The Q400 is fine. Thanks
  18. I've been flying Horst's panel since I found this thread a few hours ago. His usual fine work. :>))I have --2 questions. 1-Does it look to anyone else like the panel is-- cocked to the right just a bit? 2- Is there a way to lower the call out volume? Within just this aircraft? cfg or something..New Year's Cheer to all....
  19. I think we have hijacked the thread.. sshhh--I used to have a friend who restored old woody bodies.I knon almost nothing about cars--- can't fix anything-- I covet a white over blue 1956 Chevy Belair 2 foor !:-ukliam :-spacecraft
  20. Hi JS,The Tiger and Healy have a strange story. I got the Tiger as a college student in.. 1963-1964. A fellow student/friend had a cream Healy 3000. We used to double date in both cars...and drag on country roads at night.. yikes!! To be young... :-eek When I went to grad school I needed something bigger so I sold the Tiger to the friend and got a Pontiac 326 "station wagon"(remember those?)-- I always coveted his cream colored Healy so about 10 years ago I found one and got it.Then a few years ago I had a call from the same guy, who was retiring and asked me if I wanted his Tiger back! He had kept it in immaculate condition all those years.. I said you bet and he practically gave it to me...Few people ever heard of them...Their Vr speeds? Well, I'd say if they had wings they would NOT need as much concrete to get off the ground as the DC-10!:-)
  21. Thanks JS.I couldn't believe what I was experiencing... Now I believe!Guess I'll never TO from Rochester NY, where I live. Although the Concord came here once as did Bush in a 747, I assume,, 8000' runway.I remember taking off (as a passenger of course) in Albuquerque--5000+'MSL whatever it is----- RWY 8?-- the 13,000 footer.. in a 727 heading EAST where there are MOUNTAINS--HIGH MOUNTAINS, man-- we burned off fuel for about 10-15 minutes before take off. THAT had me worried to begin with.We rolled ... and rolled and rolled.. I was watching the 1000 foot markers go by.. 'OMG, we are NOT going to make it!' We barely did--illegally, I'm sure...This is a great plane no doubt.. Biggest plane I have decided to learn how to fly..I love it...and will be patient..Thanks..
  22. EEII! Oh Man---Dumb Dumb Dumb.. Of course--The MENU-- duh! my old brain is full.. :>)I've been using too many 'Load Managers" :<(I'm experimenting at O'Hare rwy 32 lots of concrete..It's margarita time!!
  23. Thanks very much D or Scobie. :>)I have great respect for the folks at SGA and love their other planes that I have,,I left a post at the SGA Forum.. and installed that wonderful panel you suggest, although I don't see "hints' on flying... Things are definitely getting better.. Although it still takes 9000-10,000 to get the gear off the ground ---after that, no problem...I've googled for DC-10 ref speeds without luck yet... I'll keep looking.Dumb question-- how do I lower weights? in the cfg file? Might be over my head as my cfg file knowledge is limited...Thanks again..
  24. Question about the SGA DC-10-- No matter what I do, I don't seem to be able to get off the ground in less than about 9000+ feet or so.I've tried several flap settings, slats, 5, 15 22.. etc.. different trim settings, etc., Different Vr speeds. Not sure what I am doing wrong. An approximate example--- Flaps 22, trim at 7 degrees.. it takes 26 seconds to reach 100kts, 33 seconds to reach 120 kts. etc., rotating in the mid 130's, for instance-- the main gear will not leave the ground until about 170 kts..and maybe 45 seconds...I know I am not being accurate here. but just one example of many--it never leaves the ground sooner than about 9000 ft of RWY and 170 kts..If you want to enjoy the New Year DON'T get on this DC-10 with me flying it.:-) Any idea welcome...
  25. Hi Leon, Thank you for the detailed reply....It helped me realize what happened. I DID, as you suggest, download the 2002 version by mistake-- thus no gear, etc...... BUT the other Falcon 50 I saw in my aircraft list was--- the 2004 version that I had downloaded sometime in the foggy past. I just had forgot about it and hadn't flown it for a long time. So I am assuming that this 'older 2004 version is the same one everybody else is getting now. Amazing what croseed synapses (?) will do.So I'm flying it now and really enjoying it.Thanks again and have a GRRRREAT New Year.
