  1. I have had this problem. Make sure that the FLEXnet Licensing Service is started and running when you load the J41.
  2. I had the same problem. When you are setting the power levers before engine start, hit F2 several times until you see the two green "REV" lights on the coaming panel. Next, hit F3 several times until the green "REV" lights are extinguished, then continue hitting F3 about 5 more times after the lights are extinguished. This should put your power levers in the correct position for engine start.
  3. Thanks Jim. I think I solved it. I clicked on the "Thermals" tab, and I noticed that there were 5 thermals saved there. I didnt create them so I deleted them. Did a few more flights, and so far I havent had any more problems.
  4. I fly the 2008 Maddog in FSX using Active Sky Evolution. On a typical flight, I am decending in vertical speed mode at about -1800 fpm. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the vertical speed mode will change from -1800 fpm to around +5000 fpm and before I can correct it I will gain about 3000 ft of altitude. I then reset the vertical speed to -1800 fpm and all goes well for awhile, and then the same thing happens again.I tried decending in VNAV, but the problem still occurs. I am using FSUIPC to control the wind, pressure, and temp shifts. I have cloud turbulence, cloud icing, wind turbulence, wind shear, thermals, and downdrafts all set to 0 in ASE. I am not using DWC, and I also have dynamic rate of change at 50% and download interval at 15 mins. Is this caused by sudden pressure or temp changes? If so, anyone know how to deal with it?
  5. When I tried to download the new RC4 sound files today from the AVSIM library I got the following message:File unavailable...When you asked to download this file, we checked that the file was actually there.Unfortunately, it is currently unavailable.I got the same message for all 5 parts. Does anybody know when these files will be back up on AVSIM? Are they available to download from another location?
  6. Is anyone using Radar Contact with the new Voice Commander? I understand that with a headset you can have the FS2Crew audio come thru the headphones and all of the other FSX sounds (engines, cockpit, rain, etc.) come thru the speakers. If you use Radar Contact, does the audio come thru the headset or speakers? It would obviously be more realistic if there was way to get the Radar Contact audio to come thru headset also.

  8. Thanks Bryan. I have been researching the headsets, and it seems that some connect via two 3.5mm stereo miniplugs and some connect via USB. For the 2010 Voice Commander Series, will either of these options work?
  9. Bryan, you suggest using a quality microphone with FS2Crew 2010. Got any recommendations on a good microphone?
  10. Hey Jim, I really appreciate the offer for doing the Continental Connection repaint. Man, I dont care how the engine nacelles are painted, I think they looked great on the Express repaint you did. It would be nice to have, but if you dont have time to do the Connection repaint it's no big deal............Thanks again,Gary Merka
  11. Wow, that was quick!! Awesome repaints, Jim. Thank you very much. I meant to contact you today and tell you that I should have originally said Continental Connection instead of Continental Express (Connection is turboprops only and Express is regional jets only). But no problem, the Express repaint is awesome. Thanks again.Gary Merka
  12. Thanks Jim. No specific registration required, just fictionals would be great.
  13. Mr. Hodkinson. thanks for the quality repaints you have done for the J41. Would you please consider creating a Northwest Airlink and/or Continental Express repaint for the J41?Thanks,Gary Merka
  14. First, I want to say thanks to Capt. Randazzo and the JS41 development team. The JS41 is incredible and I have really been impressed by it. I think you guys definitely have a winner in the JS41.After I bought the JS41, I read the manuals and completed a few flights by following the tuturiol line by line. After that, I did some custom flights on my own. When I tried a vectored ILS approach, I could never get the autopilot to capture the ILS. I went thru all the steps outlined in Chapter 4 of the AOM (set inbound course, ILS freq set as the active freq, V/L mode selected in the EHSI display controller, HDG and APR autopilot buttons selected). I also followed page 91 of the tutorial which states "LNAV to Vectors to ILS Transition: If your approach controller takes you on a vector, simply dial the heading into the heading bug and press the HDG button on the flight director controls. The airplane will turn to follow the heading bug. If you are being vectored onto an approach, you should press the NAV or APR buttons ONE TIME to arm them to capture the LOC/ILS when it is available. When not navigating in LNAV, pressing the V/L button will bring up the HSI course needle on the EHSI." As I approach the ILS, I have HDG, LOC, and GS displayed on the EADI and the APR button is displaying "armed" and the HSI course needle is displayed on the EHSI. But I always fly right thru the beam for some reason wtihout capturing it.In the tutorial, the LNAV route is followed all the way to ILS intercept, and if I do that (instead of getting vectors to the ILS) it works no problem. The moving map automatically changes to the HSI display and the ILS is captured. But if I am following a heading vector to the ILS, I cant seem to figure out how to get it to capture.I know I am doing something wrong and its not a bug. I do not enter an approach/arrival in the FMS for a vectored approach (just the destination airport) and that may be the problem. Does anyone have a simple step by step procedure for flying a vectored ILS approach?Any help appreciated,Gary Merka
  15. Hey jd, I am a long time RC user and I wanted to say thanks for creating this excellent program for use with FSX. I use RC4.3x with FS2Crew, and both programs have the copilot callout "altimeter check" at the same time when passing thru the transition level. I want to disable the "altimeter check" call in RC4, but I cant figure out how to do it. Is there any way to do this? Thanks,Gary
  16. If anyone else is interested I posted about this issue in the Radar Contact forum, and one of the developers proposed a solution that I tried and it fixed the cargo door problem for me. Here is a link to the post: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=239306
  17. Many thanks, Ron! I tried changing the .dat file as you suggested above and that solved the problem I was having. Thanks again for quickly looking into this and coming up with a solution.
  18. Using the PMDG MD-11, the cargo doors close using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + N. If I perform a flight without Radar Contact, the cargo doors on the MD-11 close normally using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + N. But whenever I perform a flight with Radar Contact, the cargo doors will not close using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + N. I tried it both with the RC4 window in view and also with it hidden, but the cargo doors will not close. So it seems like RC is interfering by using Cntrl + Shift + N for one of its functions. But I have been thru the RC4 keystroke list many times, and there is no Cntrl + Shift + N keystroke associated with it. Just wondering if anyone else using this the FSX MD11 with RC4 is having this problem. JD, does RC4x use Cntrl + Shift + N for something that is not listed in the keyboard shortcuts?
  19. OK. I did flight without using Radar Contact and the Cargo doors opened normally using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + C and closed normally using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + N. Then I did flight with Radar Contact and the Cargo doors opened normally using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + C but they would not close using keyboard Cntrl + Shift + N. I tried it both with the RC window in view and also with it hidden, but I got the same results. So obviously RC is interfering by using Cntrl + Shift + N for one of its functions. But I have been thru the RC keystroke list a dozen times, and there is no Cntrl + Shift + N keystroke associated with it. Like I said before not that big of a big deal, it just really bugs me about what could be causing this. I think I will post something in the RC forum and see if anyone else running the MD-11, FS2Crew, and RC is also having this problem. Thanks for the Autothrottle tip, it woked like a champ ........
  20. Thanks Bryan. I have done a few more flights, and I still cant get FS2Crew to close the cargo doors. I checked and confirmed that the "close cargo doors" command is properly set to CTRL SHIFT N in the PMDG menu. And when the GA enters the cockpit I press the GA button as required and she says something like "they are closing the cargo doors now." But after waiting the requisite 18 seconds the doors still do not close. FWIW, the other passenger doors open and close normally with FS2Crew. I also have a problem with the FO not engaging the AT during the takeoff run. I hit the Green button and he replies something like "takeoff thrust set" but the throttles always remain at the pre-AT engagement setting (around 70% N1) and never advance past that. As you stated in the manual, I just advance the throttles manually past 75% N1 and the power will increase and clamp as required. Not that big of a deal.Just wanted to make sure you understand that I am not whining or complaining as both of these have very easy workarounds. And anyone who is reading this and considering whether or not to get this product for the MD-11 should definitely go for it. I have every one of Bryan's FS2Crew products, and I think the MD-11 is his best one yet.
  21. I usually run Radar Contact with the interface window hidden, and yes it does accept commands even when it is not visible. I tried closing the cargo doors with Cntrl + Shift + N but they would not close. So I dont think it has anything to do with Radar Contact. I went thru every keystroke I could find in FSX and FSUPIC, but I did not find anything else using Cntrl + Shift + N. Not that big of a deal since I can always just close the cargo doors using the FS Shortcuts in the FMC, but it still bugs me and I wish I could find out what is causing the problem.
  22. Hey Andy, I also use Radar Contact with the MD11 and FS2Crew and I also cant get the cargo doors to open. RC is active when it is time for the doors to close, but I looked at all of the RC commands and there are none for Cntrl + Shift + N. So I am confused about how it could be interfering with the door closure in FS2Crew. It sounds like you may have found a solution, can you let me know what you did to fix it?Thanks,Gary in Texas
  23. Is anybody using a Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with the CH Pro Rudder Pedals? I can use the Saitek Rudder Pedals with the Saitek yoke in FS9 and FSX without any problems, but when I try to use the CH pedals with the Saitek yoke nothing works.I do have the CH Control Manager (for Vista) installed so I can use my CH Combatstick, CH Pro Throttle, and CH Pro Pedals together as one device in Falcon 4.0 AF. I tried to use CM to mix/match the Saitek yoke and CH pedals, but it doesn't allow you to add any non-CH joysticks.
