Stuck in Loop
Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help. Last night I did a VFR flight from Guernsey to Alderney, all was going well until the handover from Guernsey Approch to Alderney, when the program seemed to get stuck in a loop, it asked me to contact Approch, 1st off it had me as aircraft type Generic rather than Lancair Legacy, and then dispute the text changing to blue after I transmitted, which I believe indicates it understands me, ATC then asks me to repeat. This then continued in this loop for next 5 mins, until I flew into the sea of Alderney as my attention was diverted trying to sort out VoxATC, love to see the accident report on that one. I think the problem was Voxatc dosnt understand the phase Generic, as it seemed to understand me fine for the last 2 days I've been flying. Anyone got any idea how I can fix this, seriously thinking about getting this, but £80 is a lot of money, if I can't fix this issue. Really does break the illusion. Cowboy10uk

FSX Airport Addons
The only thing I have found is they have large boxes above the runway stating demo. I don't think they are time limited or anything, but of course those boxes kind of destroy any sense of realism, however they don't effect fps, so you can get a good idea how the full version will work. They do ask you don't use them for more than 24hrs, but don't think the PC will self destruct if you do. Like I said I have always stayed away as I was concerned about the fps, but was surprised just how well it did seem to run. Yes I had the odd stutter, but considering I was using the PMDG 737, a extreme airport and It was at dusk, so was getting a few lights on and of course I'm silly enough to run all of this at 5670 x 1080, I thought it ran very well indeed. Seriously considering getting it tonight. Although as I will be getting the Orbx UK scenery, not sure if I should wait as I'm sure they will be doing there own version. Would hate to get something now and find out its not compatable in a month or two. Cowboy10uk P.S. currently flying the Realair Duke, I see you have the turbine version, would i get anything out of upgrading to this aircraft, or is it pretty much the same as I have?

FSX Airport Addons
I was the same, never got any airports due to fear of FSX, I would suggest you do what I did, and download the UK2000 demos of any airport u want to see how it performs on your machine. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I ran the demo of the uk2000 heathrow yesterday with my PMDG 737 and 20% traffic. Yes it did have a hit, but still ran quite fluidly at 15 -20 fps, bear in mind however I'm running a high res of 5670 x 1080. More than enough to be able to fly, so will be purchasing later today. Good luck with your hunt Cowboy10uk

Wow I finally get it.
Doohhhh, should really not type, when I'm Half asleep. ok you got me there, amended. Or at least, it would be amended if it gave me the option to edit it. Cowboy10uk

Wow I finally get it.
Hi all, we'll after years and years, of flying in FSX, I finally had that WOW moment. I had installed stalled on my new PC, purpose built to run fsx at 5670 x 1080 at 30fps, which she does nicely, at least in smaller aircraft, I get 15 - 20 with my PMDG 737. Anyway, I have got all my addon installed and was using a flight from Cosford to Guernsey to try out the Vox ATC demo. So there i was over Bristol, talking to Wolverhampton Control, I look left with track IR, and there reflecting in a pinkish glow of the sunset was the seven Bridge. Wow,I know many of you have experienced this time and time again, but for the first time since I started my journey, I felt there, I was really flying. I have never experienced FSX feeling so real before. While I know this may bore most of you, I just had to share. Cowboy10uk

GTX 680 + 3x24" LCDs = ?
cowboy10uk replied to JSACKS's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcWell been playing about for a few days now, after my sadly disappointing first flight after install of new card, I've reconfiged FSX, deleted cfg and rebuilt new one using ******* cfg helper, lowered settings to high rather than ultra, installed and setup nv inspector using settings on here. Now getting 30fps flying caranado P46T using utx, Rex, Iceland X, Gex, my traffic pro. At 5060 x 1050 ( for some reason gtx 680 won't give me my full res of 5670 x 1080 ) Still got to check around the pnw to see how Orbx runs, but first need to cross atlantic. ( only fly in areas after I've flown to them ) If I change to PMDG 737 Ngx, I do have to lower res to 1920 x 1080 to get a fly able fps, hopefully that will change when I put 3570k OC to 4.4 in next month.. All in all, one fantastic card. Cowboy10uk

Where are you flying your JetProp
Currently 100nm north of Scotland, on the first leg of my trip, to visit the wonderful pacific north west, courtesy or Orbx. Took off at 09.30 this morning from RAF Cosford in the Uk, currently heading for Keflavik which is still 323 nm miles to go. Eta is 13.56 GMT. Was going to do it in the Katana 4x until I saw how long it would take just to get to Scotland :) Yes I know I could just jump to the pacific north west, but this way I get to enjoy this stunning aircraft. ;) Just got to remember to save every 30mins or so, had 4 ctd already. :( Cowboy10uk

GTX 680 + 3x24" LCDs = ?
cowboy10uk replied to JSACKS's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHi guys, yep figured that's the case. Planning to upgrade CPU and MB to a I5 3570k and sabertooth z77 in a few months. Fingers crossed that will finally get this thing to work. Sorry about tone of previous message, was tired and rather annoyed that one of the fastest cards out there still can't run fsx at a decent frame rate. On a positive note though it runs Rise of flight, BF3 and Skyrim all maxed out at a very good speed. :) Will tweak the graphical settings in fsx and in nvidia control panel and see if I can't at least get a workable solution for the next few months. GTX 680 + 3x24" LCDs = ?
cowboy10uk replied to JSACKS's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcWell just installed my new GTX680 4gb card, installed 8 GB DDR3 Ram 1600MHZ and Overclocked my 965 BE to 3.7GHZ, then ran my CFG through *******'s site and put in the new cfg that it made. After all of that......... 13 FPS at Gatwick with PMDG 737. at 1920 x 1080 or 9 FPS at 5670 x 1080. I keep hearing of these people who can get over 30. Just what else does this damn sim need. Guess im gonna be spending all day tomorrow tweaking and trying to figure out what went wrong yet again. instead of flying. a Rather Annoyed Cowboy10uk

- New build advice needed.
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi guys, thanks for your replys, Ref the graphics card, I did seriously think about the 680 and had that as part of the spec initially. However when looking into it, I found that the reviews were showing 2 670's were better for multi screen than one 680. That said I've always stayed away from SLI before due to the issues people had been saying they've been having. So may look at this again. Ref the motherboard, I've managed to find the same bundle but with the Asus Sabertooth Z77 board. Only 30 more, from what I've heard this is meant to be a stunning board. So is it worth changing to that. I also noticed Ben, that you only put 8gb mem on your design. Does that indicate that the 16gb I have planned is overkill and it won't get used. Last time I was designing a pc many many years ago, I was told to put in as much mem as I could afford. Is that no longer the case? Also replaced CPU cooler with H100. Cowboy10uk- New build advice needed.
Hi all. I appreciate that you may be sick of giving advice for new PC builds, but please bear with me. This could well be my final complete new build, due to increasing the size of my family, so I would like to get it right. The build needs to be able to last a few years at least, and run the following sims at high or above graphics, min of 30 fps and at a res of 5670 x 1080. ( I love my multi monitors ) DCS series FSX with weather and airport addons, And of course the PMDG 737NGX and PMDG 747 Rise of Flight Now I've asked the same question over at DCS and it sounds like this spec will work there, but then again the pc I have now, runs that fine. It's just FSX and PMDG aircraft I cannot get to play above 10 - 15 FPS and that's what I'm trying to do here. Spec Intel Core I5 3570K 3.4Ghz Quad Core Ivybridge CPU Processor - BX80637I53570K - Socket 1155 O/C to 4.4 GHZ Asus P8Z77-V LX Intel Z77 DDR3 ATX HDMI Motherboard - Socket 1155 Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 High Performance CPU Cooler 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 1600MHz RAM Memory bundle pack - £414.95 2 x PALIT GTX670 PCIE3.0 2GB DDR5 JETSTREAM - £687 Crucial Technology Crucial m4 256GB Solid State Drive SATA6Gbs CT256M4SSD2 Components SSD Solid State Drive - £164.91 Western Digital Caviar 3TB SATA 6 GB/s 64MB Cache 3.5 inch OEM Internal Hard Drive Green - £142.98 COOLER MASTER STORM TROOPER UBB 30 BLACK XLATX CASE SGC5000KKN1 Components Cooling Fans Modding - £101.98 Corsair CMPSU-800GUK Gaming Series GS800 High Performance 800W Power Supply - £82.98 Planning on using the SSD drive for op system and FSX, all other sims will go on the 3 TB hard drive. This marks quite a departure for me, as for last 10 years I've been an AMD man. But after hearing good things about intel and nividia I've decided to give them a shot. Anyway, if you're still with me then thanks for getting this far. A. Is there anything I've missed. B. will this system work and give me that FPS and smoothness I would like and more importantly finally allow me to have a go at flying these stunning PMDG aircraft that have been sat grounded in my hanger for way to long. Budget is around £1800 Current build is AMD X4 965 3.4GHZ, 4GB DDR3 Ram, 3TB Hard Disk, ATI 5870 1GB Graphics, 3 x LG 23" Widescreen HD Monitors, Buttkicker 2, TM Warthog Hotas, Saitek Pedals, Track IR And a bloody awful Pilot Cowboy10uk- Another New build.
Please ignore, moved question to pc building section. Cowboy10uk- Another will my PC run this topic.
Anyone?Holding off on purchase, as I'm not sure. Any advice would be great fully received- Another will my PC run this topic.
Hi guys, I'm sorry for yet another will my pc run this topic. At mo my Pc runs Fsx at around 25 - 30 fps with all settings on high and res at 5760 x 1080, while flying all my aircraft apart from the PMDG 747. I am running the following add ons.Rex,Gex, Canada, USA and EuropeUtx , Canada , USA, and Europe Traffic 2011Obix northwestFs Global 2010Carendos 320PMDG 747All A2A aircraftFor some reason I can only get 8 fps with the Queen. Because of such a large difference between the other aircraft add ons, although I am very keen to fly the 737 NGX, I am concerned that I will again get the low fps which I got for my other PMDG product. I appreciate I am Running quite a few add ons and a high res, but certainly with small aircraft I am more than happy with the fps and frame rates and also the graphics that I have managed to get. It's taken me many many yrs to be able to run fsx at even these frame rates. My specs are as followed. AMD X4 965 3.4GHZ, 4GB DDR3 Ram, 3TB Hard Disk, ATI 5870 1GB Graphics, 3 x LG 23" Widescreen HD Monitors, Buttkicker 2, TM Warthog Hotas, or Saitek Pro Flight yoke and Saitek Pedals, Track IR And a bloody awful Pilot Hope to hear from you all sooncowboy10uk- Switching to Map on GPS
Damn, Ok didnt think it was that simple, All the instructions I had read was making it sound like a nightmare. I think you have convinced me, Ill treat myself to a gps unit next month, Sadly my funds are tied into a track Ir 5 and shopping trip for the wife this month, since she has let me go to the Weston Show next week :) Thanks for the info.Cowboy10uk- Switching to Map on GPS
Hi Chock, Yep I will freely admit that its the installing thats the only thing that is putting my off these products. I am aware that they are great add ons and too be honest the prive isnt that bad, considering what you get. However all the instructions apart from this one are talking about having to open up panels, and cut items from it before adding these and then they dont always work. Im no computer programmer or Artist so as I dont want to ruin my aircraft, I am rather hesitant. IF they do install as easy as you are stating into the C340 Then, I think I may have to look again, However I guess I would need 2 430 units and a wether unit, which may be puching my luck with the wife :) Thanks for your advice, I will go and look again at these, As ive just started a round the world trip, then they might come in handy.Cowboy10uk- Switching to Map on GPS
Hi guys, I wonder if any one can help me, I purchased this from Just flight this morning, and have to say I love it, just had a great 3 hr flight from cosford to Germany, However I did notice two issues that I wonder if anyone can help me with,1. I cant for love or money get the GPS to display the map view, I know that on the 430 you should click the right hand knob clockwise once and this will put the display to map. When I attempt to do this is just goes to the default nav page but this time without my course showing. Any ideas guys. I would like to display the map view on top 430 and the default nav info on bottom, so I have everything at a glance. 2. The Weather radar dosnt seem to be picking up my weather. I am aware that there is an issue with this, however im not sure if its meant to have been fixed or not, I have not updated as the home page stated that you dont need to if you've only purchased after Jan. Not sure if it makes a difference but I am using REX 2 for my weather and not the default fsx engine.I have looked at the Reality XP replacments but to be honest the install looks very very complicated to me :) Anyway Keep up the great work, this is my first Carendo aircraft and I must say Im very impressed, Just started a round the world trip in FSX, using the C340, Im sure by the end of the trip I should now how to work everything :DCowboy10uk- New PC Spec advice
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcDont worry guys, will gve an update, once everythings all up and running, Slight delay at mo, as suppier of GPU has let me down, Now got another order in with a different company, fingers crossed, looking at weds now. Everything else is built and waiting, just the gap where the gpu should go. Cowboy10uk- New PC Spec advice
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcWell Guys, Its ordered and just had a call from wife, saying the 1st delivery is here. The final spec wasAMD Phenom 2 X4 965Asus M4A79XTD EvoGeil Ultra 4GB pc3 - 17000 2133 mhzATI HD5870Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB x 3Coolermaster 1100W UCP (Ultimate Circuit Protection) PSU - 80% Bronze Certified EfficiencyCoolerMaster CM690 CaseCorsair CWCH50-1 Water CoolingLG W2361V 23" LCD Widescreen Full HD Gaming monitor 1920x1080 x 2Windows 7 ProfAs you can see, most specs stayed the same, added another TB onto the Hard disks to make 3, and went for the Coolermaster PSU, Was concerned 750w maybe would cause power worrys, so stretched to the larger one. Decided to stick with case in the end, Or should I say Wife decided I would stick with the case in the end, As she figured 100+ for a case was too much, tried explaining that it would be better but no go. Never mind maybe next time. As to the cooling issue, The case itself has 7 fans in it, which should keep things cool, and the H50 kept calling my name, I may regret it and If I do =hpsf=Jarhead You can tell me you told me so. Thankyou for all your great advice and ideas, Really appreicate it. Although the spec didnt change that much, to be honest That was more down to financal than not taking any notice, Trust me if I had the money, an I7 system would be the way to go.Thankyou again guys, Hopefully if all goes well, pc will be built Sunday and Flying by late evening. Take care .Cowboy10uk- New PC Spec advice
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi guys, Thanks for that Techguy, Going on what has been said here, the 5870 is around the 11" mark, Going on that, if I keep with the 690 case, I have about 3/4 " space left after fitting, Thats tight but will work. However now seriously looking at sniper case, bit more pounds, but will fit all new cards easily. Should be placing order next week, so once I get final build will let you all know. Just hope all this gives me those few more FPS that im looking for in FSX. :)- New PC Spec advice
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHey guys. Thankyou for taking the time to have a look at this and your kind advice. Just had a look at that Corsair PSU, Very nice unit, just one question is 750w enough these days with the large GPUs we are using. Wasn't aware of a problem with the H50, all the reviews never mentioned it, However that is great advice, so will look for another cooler thanks. Sadly Dan, I have looked at I5/I7 that is just above my budget, while I know the I5 is only a few quid more than the 658, The motherboard costs jump signifcantly if I go for a Intel chip. As im only going to be using the PC for Flightsimming and gaming, we are planning to overclock to 3.8 which i Understand from reviews it will oc to nicly. I know its not as good as the 4ghz OC you can get from the I5, but I hope it should be enough to run FSX at a decent rate. As to case, im now looking at Storm Sniper which easly fits 5870 into its insides, so all being good there shouldnt be any issues with that.Again Thanks for your time and effort guys I really appreciate it.Cowboy10uk- New PC Spec advice
cowboy10uk replied to cowboy10uk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHey mate, Thanks for your advice, In answer to your questions1. Thanks for that, I'll have a look for a name brand PSU, Ive used non brand one for years and never had an issue, but maybe im just lucky.2. Yep thats onne of my worries, The other case thats in the running is the Coolermaster Storm Sniper Black edition, Ive heard that is designed for the larger cards, and has 13" space to play with. 3. To be honest, It has a good deal on it at mo and is some of the cheapest Ram I can get, Just makes sense that if you can get 2133 Ram cheaper than 1600 then why not, Even if you dont use it, it still gives you the option of overclocking if you need to.I'll have a look at the case and Psu though, I want to get this right .Cowboy10uk - New build advice needed.
