  1. Hi 777 Simmer Once Rainman has given me the performance benchmark figure at the end of the test I will be able to ascertain whether he has an issue with the PC or not ..... It won't help us with FSX as such but if it's a pretty poor result figure then he will need to check out the components within the PC I look forward to hearing back from him Regards Paul
  2. Hi 777 simmer I am sorry that came over as a 'flippant' remark ... it wasn't intentional ... so I apologise profusely ..... Let's hope we can bring this to a successful conclusion for our Swedish friend Regards Paul
  3. Hi I suggest you try this ... there seems to be a lot of shooting around in the dark here and I really do think this is a process of elimination ...is it FSX or is it the PC So .... I recommend you download this benchmarking software and once it has loaded ... run the benchmark without touching any of the settings within the program When it gets to the end it will give you a benchmark number ... please let me know what that is The link is here http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3tc/demos_en.php Regards Paul
  4. Just as an exercise ...... Try running FSX in a small window and see what FPS you are getting
  5. How many screens are you running on?
  6. +1 Stephen As soon as I saw that post from Coryb I though it was WELL out of order and I am pleased you have pulled him up on it
  7. Hi everyone I am just playing 'Devils Advocate' here You are saying that it is possibly an Opus issue but does this issue happen with other aircraft such as the 737NGX or any other third party 777 ..... Process of elimination me thinks ...... Regards Paul
  8. You are EXACTLY right Mark!!!
  9. Hi Everyone Hmmmmm .. this is an odd one ....I click on the icon to start FSX ..... it loads fine to the screen with the preview rotating screen of the Microlight ..... but as soon as I click 'Fly Now' I receive an onscreen message saying 'Input not supported' There is no way I can click off that message and the only way out is to close the system down completely Any ideas on sorting this one out please Cheers
  10. Hi Everyone Hmmm interesting one this .... I have just upgraded the firmware on my TH2Go and also downloaded the latest drivers to give me better widescreen resolutions for my screens What I am finding now is .. even though I have got some awesome resolutions to use when I am in FSX the little circle (egg timer)is constantly turning next to the mouse arrow I have installed this onto three other systems and the same thing is happening I got in touch with Matrox and their initial reply was that it is probably an issue in FSX .. I did explain that this didn't happen using the previous drivers and firmware Anyone else experiencing this problem and if so .. have you managed to get an answer/fix? Thanking you in advance :-)
  11. Hi Bart Thanks for that .. I will give it a go ...Hmmmm yes I have posted this in the wrong place!! Trust me !!!!!Yeah ..... I have emailed Go Flight with the problem too Thanks anyway .. well appreciated
  12. Hi everyone ...Mmmm I have a strange problem ...I use the GF46 Goflight modules for various uses but when using one of these for the XPDR it will not function correctly in FSX ...When you turn the dials on the GF46 to set a squawk code the LED numbers just randomly move to any sequence ... also you cannot select any of the numbers to change individually ...For example ... it will be set to default 1200 if you select to change the first number which in this case is the digit 1 .. it will turn the last digit 0 instead !!!If you look at the gauge in FSX all seems to be normal but the digits will not be the same as on the actual GoFlight module.I thought at first it was a faulty module but swapped it for another and the same problem occured ..I then thought right let's try this on a different PC with just FSX installed and the same thing happens..My initial thoughts are that it's a Goflight config software issue ...I have tried both the older 1.71 software and the new 1.81 but still the same problem ..All other assignments ie Nav1 Nav2 Com1 etc etc all work perfectly .. its just the XPDR that has the problemsI am using FSX with SP1 and SP2 on a Vista 64 Bit Home Premium version .. with Admin rights and set to run in Windows XP compatibilty mode enabled ( Ihave tried it with this off too)I am at a loss on this one .... If anyone else has had this problem and has the fix then I would really appreciate a few pointer :-)Cheers in advancePaul
  13. Hi NickOk .. I have now had the opportunity to try the Halo fix and it worked a treat!!! :-)Thank you very much indeed .. you are a Saviour !! Have a great Easter Cheers Paul
  14. Hi Nick ...This sounds very promising .. thank you very much .. really appeciate it I will let you know how I get on :-)But .. thanks a million Paul
  15. Hi everyone ...I am using a Matrox Triplehead2Go digital module spanning FSX over 3 x 22" LCD Panels ...Because it is using such a high resolution to achieve this ... the aircraft landing lights look absolutely huge!! I was having the same problem with the Runway approach lights but by editing the FSX config file by adding Runway light scaler lines I have managed to overcome the balloon like problem ..Alas .. I haven't been able to overcome this issue with the aircraft landing lights and just wanted to know if anyone here has the answer ..Thank you in advance Paul :-)
  16. Hi everyoneOk I have sorted it .... I just un-installed a few addons and completely deleted my FSX config file and let it rebuild it ...Heaven knows what caused that but at least it didn't mean a complete re-install of FSX !! Phew !!:-)
  17. Hi everyone ..I am not sure what has happened here but when selecting to fly either at dawn dusk or night .... when FSX loads to where I want to fly .. it always sets me up with the day textures .... For a split second I will see, say the dawn textures .. and then start the load up again and then I am sat at the threshold with day settings !!!Very odd .... as I say this happens whether it's dawn/dusk or night .Any ideas fellas?? Anyone else experienced this one? Thanks in advance Paul :-)
  18. Bizarre!!!Ok ... the sweat is over fellas ..I have just tried installing SP2 again and it has loaded successfullyI did nothing different to the previous attempts ... so I wonder what on earth caused that???Anyway ... thanks for the input CheersPaulUK
  19. There wasn't any error number ... the message just basically said that Service Pack 2 setup has been cancelled and that no modifications had been made .... Very odd never seen this before ...We have to remember that this is a 'Brand new' system with only Vista Home Premium 32 Bit ... FSX and Service Pack 1 on it ..Not sure what you mean by Service pack 1A !!!I know that SP2 is on Acceleration but this system will not be having that installed on it ..CheersPaul
  20. Hi Everyone Anyone else had this problem ..Brand new System FSX installed okSP1 installed okWent to install SP2 loaded so far and then I got this message saying that SP2 setup was cancelled ... no modifications have been made!!At first I thought it might be a corrupted download .. so I downloaded it again but .. alas I got the same message!Any ideas on this one Thanks in advance PaulUK
  21. Thank you very much for that Bruce .. a great tip and it looks like others are benefitting from it too ... Well done Buddy :-)The only problem I seem to have now is that my taxiway (Blue) lights are still pretty large ... Looks like others are also having this problem too ...Any ideas on sorting this one out ... also when I look at the lights on the tail and wings of the aircraft they still look like balloons!Once again ... superb thanks Bruce Paul
  22. Hi everyoneDoes anyone know how to scale down the lights within FSX so that all lights including runways .. taxiways .. etc etc stop looking like huge balloons??? ....It's obviously to do with the fact that the TripleHead2Go is stretching FSX over the three screens which causes this horrible effect .. and I was just wondering if anyone has found the solution ..CheersPaulUK
  23. Hi everyone I would like to point this question to primarily Phil Taylor about a problem we have been experiencing on systems we have been building for FSX using the Vista platform ... but ... if anyone else has any ideas I would be most appreciative on your input It concerns using multi Screens and in the main .. the problem arises when applying a 2nd screen to the secondary port on the graphics card. If we undock say the avionics panel over onto the 2nd screen and click on it to adjust frequencies etc etc we have no problem ... but let's say we open something which is working outside of FSX such as serv-info or even a notepad window .. when we click on it .. it disables the sound within FSX BUT the simulation continues to run .... To bring the sound back ... we can either scroll through the various views using the 'S' key and suddenly the sound is back! or place the mouse back into anywhere in the FSX screen click once and, once again the sound is back. We thought at first that maybe it is a Creative sound issue but also tried it using the onboard sound built onto the motherboard but alas we still had the same issue! Now I know squawkbox is not available to use yet on FSX but I can see this being a potentially big problem when interacting with ATC via voice. Any ideas on this would be most welcome ..Ok moving onto FS2004 using the Vista platform ... managing multi screening becomes an even bigger problem! What we are finding is that when FS2004 is in a windowed mode on one screen set as the primary the simulation grinds to a complete halt (it's working but very very slow at updating) which makes it impossible to use if flying with say Squawkbox on the other screen .... BUT as soon as we change to 'fullscreen' mode everything is perfectly fine ...FS2004 performs incredibly well.. the only trouble is though because we have now moved into fullscreen mode any windowed application running outside of FS2004 is not visible and unusable! So it is impossible to interact with squawkbox etc etcI am pretty sure that this is a vista problem because replicating the same scenario under windows XP we never came across this issue.Any ideas on both the FSX and FS2004 problem would be most appreciated and maybe Phil knows whether he has come across this and if it is being addressed. For reference..the systems we are building are:-Intel E6850 Duo 2 Core 3Ghz 1333 Mhz 4Mb CPUAbit IP35 - E MotherboardCorsair TwinX 2Gb DDR2 800Western Digital 500Gb 16Mb Cache HDD SATA DVD Re-Writer ( + & - )Ge-Force 8800GTX PCie 768Mb GraphicsCreative Soundblaster Audigy SE Sound CardGigabit LanDeluxe Midi Tower Case with Superior 700w PSUWindows Vista Home PREMIUM May I just add that to achieve the third screen we are fitting a NVidia 8500 GT 256Mb PCie card ...Kind regardsPaulUK
  24. Hi GaryWe have built hundreds of machines for Flight Sim and I have never experienced sound problems like this before so I beg to differ ..I understand Phil is a busy man but I think the question is an important one which warrants him seeing this ...As I said in my post .. I welcome any other input CheersPaul
