  1. Getting the aircraft out empty is no problem, the question is what cargo is onboard and how will they get it to its destination? Oliver - Apparently Atlas crew fly the Dreamlifter.
  2. http://www.buzzfeed.com/passantino/massive-plane-mistakenly-lands-at-a-tiny-kansas-airport-and If this happened in Asia or anywhere else - internet would be flooded with posts about poor crew training etc etc... UK or USA, oh well sh** happens, honest mistake
  3. This does seem like a botched go around and another case of somatogravic illusion. Have a look at this accident from 2008, the behaviour of the flight crew is Unbeleivable, especially the captain!
  4. haha, best review I have ever seen... Do not click on the link if you are easily offended and can't take bad language! Looks like egosoft did screw up! here's hoping the mods can salvage something.

    elevator droop

Hey Trent, yes I was asking what would happen in the event of total hydraulic loss on the ground, completely unlikely scenario but I was curious as to how the simulation would behave (I still won't own the T7 for a few weeks) As explained above, even in the event of a loss of fluid from the main reservoirs the elevators will stay in place. @Brian, great explanation so hydraulic fluid is trapped in the system allowing it to stay in place. Cheers
  6. I managed to get some time to have a good read of the forums. I do also see a lot of complaints regarding the design structure. The strange thing is I have watched a few streams on twitch and it seems good on high end systems. Won't be a few weeks till I can download and install, unless they have really locked down the source code and prohibited many aspects to be changed by the community then I am not worried. Again, think of TC on release, now have a look at the mod forum and what is available. This is day two of release, I am going to reserve judgment for now, if they have locked down everything for the modding crew then they have shot themselves in the foot.

    elevator droop

Ok let me try again, I understand how an accumulator works I mentioned previously that the elevators should droop if no hydraulic fluid is available. I am asking how the PMDG simulation behaves if no fluid exists. what exactly holds the elevators in place? Regards

    elevator droop

I think you misunderstood I am talking about the aircraft parked on the ground. According to Brains post post the aircraft has a blocking mode even if the hydraulics are depressurized. Assuming that pressure is provided by the accumulators, what happens (on the ground) in an event of complete loss of hydraulic fluid? I ask because this was mentioned previously. Cheers
  9. Standard with every release, take a look at X3TC on release.. Loads of patches, I didn't even bother with the story line, just a glorified tedious tutorial. Just like with FS, the mod community is what makes or breaks a simulation. Egosoft have provided the base platform and it is hugely customisable, let's see what the mod community can create. Cheers

Very nice Brian, Quick question before I do some research, what happens in the event of a total loss of hydraulic fluid? is pressure maintained through an accumulator?
  11. Hehe, well it was a good guess 137 knots is also minimum V2 so it does also apply to the take off phase
  12. The OP is talking about Vref on approach. 137 knots on the LR is related to Vmca (minimum controllable speed) in the event of a single engine go around. it is called the Vref Floor Regards
  13. Good to hear! Am looking forward to giving it a test run. Cheers
  14. Ray, how are you finding that 780? I have picked up a 780Ti but won't be able to test it for a month. My last card was the 670FTW.
  15. I agree with everyone regarding 64 bit operating systems, the whole issue with V ram dates back to when the bulk of simmers had a 32 bit OS. I remember when I had to pick my cards carefully due this limitation, with Win7 64 bit no issues.
  16. Sorry for the length of post but have a read of this, see if it helps... V–SPEEDS UNAVAILABLE – For certain high thrust/low gross weight takeoff conditions, FMC V–speeds are not calculated. Adjust gross weight and/or takeoff thrust limit to enable V–speed calculations. The FMC will protect for minimum control speeds by increasing V1, VR and V2 as required. However, the FMC will not compute takeoff speeds for weights where the required speed increase exceeds the maximum certified speed increase. This typically occurs at full rated thrust and light weights. In this case, the message "V SPEEDS UNAVAILABLE" will appear on the FMC scratchpad and the takeoff speed entries will be blank. Takeoff is not permitted in this condition as certified limits have been exceeded. The options are to select a smaller flap setting, select derate thrust and/or add weight (fuel). Selecting derate thrust is the preferred method as this will reduce the minimum control speeds. Note that the assumed temperature method may not help this condition as the minimum control speeds are determined at the actual temperature and therefore are not reduced. Incase of 777-200 LR: The FMC will not compute takeoff speeds for weights below those shown in the Minimum Weight for FMC Takeoff Speeds Calculation table. In those cases where the required speed increase exceeds the maximum speed increase built into the FMC, the message "V SPEEDS UNAVAILABLE" will appear on the FMC scratchpad and the takeoff speed entries will be blank. This typically occurs at high rated thrust, high flaps setting and light weights. To obtain speeds for the takeoff in these situations, the options are to use available performance software, or select a smaller flaps setting, or use reduced takeoff thrust and/or add weight.
  17. They are not 'just paying for a spaceship' The purpose is to show support and help rebuild a genre that was dying out, besides nobody is forced to pledge $200 and to many people in the world that is not a great deal of money. I shudder when I think of how much I have spent in FS over the years. I would happily spend $200+ to support the new version of Elite, purely because the developer gave me and many others countless hours of enjoyment in our youth. Space sim fans and flight sim fans are very alike, the big differance is no decent platform for space sim fans exist. Imagine if we never had FS9/FSX or X plane?
  18. Setting an assumed temp of zero would not cancel it, in fact it would probably confuse things further. Either deleting it completely or entering the SAT as the assumed temp would work. Btw, what was the original assumed temp entered? It should always be higher then the current SAT Regards
  19. Last post here paul.... Yes obviously there is a report, I have no idea if it is in the public domain, highly unlikely since I know of at least 5 hard landings in a month involving one carrier on the 777 that is not public domain, only mentioned in the monthly internal safety memos. Re read my post (you do have problems don't you?) The captain in question busted the stable approach criteria resulting in a hard landing. Now obviously in your world that should not be a sackable offence... I guessed correctly, you are incapable of understanding that someone would not wish to mention the name of a particular operator on a public forum, especially when they are not posting anonymously. You have shown yourself to be a troll of the highest degree, even beyond my expectations. However I am going to play this silly game one last time, and to finally shut you up I will contact you via PM Within the next 48 hours with the exact details and the name of the operator. now crawl back under that rock
  20. Hi again Although the posky 777 is a simple representation it is likely whoever designed the flight dynamics put some effort into simulating the behaviour of the real aircraft. It is important to understand some basics like weight and balance. Simply loading the aircraft up with a random amount of fuel and cargo will likely lead to frustration. At the very least reduce the weight and fuel load and give it another try. Regards
  21. Definitely agree that the OP isn't helping himself here... However in fairness to him and those that want to try and simulate real world procedures, AP on at 200 feet (if available) is the standard procedure taught across every 777 operator I know off. During a sim check you are most definitely expected to use it asap. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  22. And what is the take off weight of the aircraft? Even 180 knots is too high at max take off weight
  23. What is the status of the packs? ...disregard, just saw the other thread
