  1. I've posted this question on another site with little response. Okay, I'm not the most experienced or talented painter. However I can hold my own. Admitted right off, this one has me stumped. Aircraft: AIA EMB-120 Paint Prog: GIMP - FSRepaint - DXT2BMP Problem: No night lights on any AIA EMB-120 when viewing the aircraft in FS9. I have painted an EMB-120 (soon to be uploaded to avsim) and have created an exceptional (IMHO) lightmap. Proper alpha channel and all. I can view the results of my work with the GIMP in FSRepaint. Switch to night view . . lights up just as expected. Place the EMB-120 in a flight plan including a night flight and only the nav lights and landing lights illuminate . . no windows. Pics are a bit dark . . . but it is nighttime ! In FSRepaint In FS9 You say, "Joe, you've missed something." That's what I said . . . many times. So i ended up checking all the AIA EMB-120 textures I have installed (all by different artists). All of them show up in FSRepaint with lights at night ! Lights on the tails, windows. Here's one in FSRepaint Made a custom afcad and flight plan for a mass night flight. All 9 of my EMB's show up and taxi out. None of the lights show up in FS9 at night. All AIA EMB-120's in FS9 I am hoping it's something I haven't done correctly and can be fixed . . . but I'm beginning to believe it's a "built into the model" problem. Any "Grand Master Painters" or model makers have any ideas? Please. Joe
  2. Thanks for the reply. No track IR and full screen. will try google search . . . I had just used search this forum in Avsim. JB
  3. This has been going on for a few months and I am finally getting irritated enough to do something about it. When selecting change aircraft from the drop down menu the display clears and is left with the blue topmost bar showing "Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight" and the next bar down shows the choices "Flights Aircraft World Options etc . . . . . . .". After 15 0r 20 seconds the bars change to gray and flight simulator becomes unresponsive. No amount of mouse clicking or keyboard pounding has any effect. You have to open Task Manager and "End Task" to gain control of the PC. Oh and very occasionally FS will open up the select aircraft window. I've "hangared" my AC, checked config files, have even changed all my AI back and forth from non-selectable to selectable. Nada. This only happens after you are in FS and have been flying for a bit. On initial start up you can select any aircraft with no problem. All of the AC in my aircraft folder show up to select. I have searched the forums for any problems similar and haven't found anything relevant. Does someone have any advice ?
  4. FWIW . . . the B-58 Hustler was a very shiny, bare aluminum aircraft to begin with.
  5. I also agree with David, ukflight, Sk1nNy . . . . . Really miss the old library.
  6. Still gone today . . . . . . . Henry was hosting Dee Waldron's AI models, too. Now they're all gone. Many thanks to both for their work.
  7. Trying to find the HTAI paint kit for the payware Cessnas with no luck. Neither of the two layered kits available here are opening for me in GIMP. The one in .php format is missing. This is the file I'm looking for . . . http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...&DLID=76902Does any one still have it ?Thanks;Joe

  9. I use GIMP for almost all of my serious repaints. There are quite a few online tutorials . . . however, the one thing that helped me most in the beginning was a text book. I purchased it locally but I believe it is available on Amazon around US$32. "Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional" by Akkana Peck, published by "apress". ISBN 1-59059-587-4. There are other books, but this one has color photos which help a lot. There are books available in the Kindle format. Being old school I still like to feel paper.Like anything else it has a learning curve . . . practice, practice . . . and "control Z" !Hope this helps . . . cheers.Joe
  10. I don't output it to a CSV . . . I just click the VIEW button. That opens it up in notepad. Cut & paste to do what you want. Then close/save notepad. The renumber program sees that the .cfg has been changed and asks if you want to renumber. Yep! Then copy the "new" .cfg to FS. Works for me! Neat li'l program. :(
  11. Still using Win XP and FS2004 - and your config renumber. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to use it . . but after I did . . . I like it! It works great.
  12. I Posted this in the Paint Forum and and no replies . . . . "The Veneaviones paint kit for their Citation 550 used to be available here on AVSIM, but is now one of the victims of the recent unpleasantness.Does anyone still have the paint kit ?I sure would appreciate if someone has it to share."Maybe someone who doesn't frequent the paint forum may be able to assist ?Joe
  13. The Veneaviones paint kit for their Citation 550 used to be available here on AVSIM, but is now one of the victims of the recent unpleasantness.Does anyone still have the paint kit ?I sure would appreciate if some one has it to share.Joe
  14. Thanks for the replies. I have the Stinson 108 and had considered repainting it to be an L-5 . . may have to.Here's the drive to find one for FS.Taken in 1949 . . my dad's plane in Germany.Taken in 1953 in Formosa (Taiwan to you youngsters).Don't want to have to go to X-Plane just to have my dad's plane.JoePS: He also flew the L-4, the L-17, the L-19 and flew helos 'til he retired after 30.
  15. I have searched, high and low, for a Stinson L-5 Sentinel for FS9. Payware, freeware . . . nary a one have I found.Does someone in this vast assemblage have any knowledge of the availability of such a puppy ?Joe
  16. David;I received one from Dan (previous post), and it worked w/ACA2005 but it only has the 10 "Microsoft Airlines" in it. Your file obviously has all the "real" airlines. What is the purpose of this config file? I have been "flying" quite some time without the file at all and have not noticed anything amiss. Joe
  17. ACA2005 appears very helpful from what I have been able to get to work. However, when I first start up I receive an error stating that the file "airline.cfg" cannot be found in the "FS9\aircraft\" folder.I searched my whole computer and cannot find a file by that name. I have been into FS for many, many years and don't recall a config file for "airlines".Any assistance/words of wisdom availaible ?Joe
  18. I've had the program for two weeks and am having a ball with it!No problems on the install.I've made many "flight plans" for my EMS helos. The only "problem" (acknowledged and to be fixed in next update) is thathelos with retractable gear leave the gear up on the ground. It's still a great add on!Joe
  19. I've seen this happen, also. Right now I can't say which airport it affects on my system (mostly fly in USA or NZ) or which A/C, but I'll keep an eye out and report back..
  20. Is this a hard & fast requirement ?
  21. No. AFX is a Flight 1 payware AFCAD by Konstantin Kukushkin for both FS9 and FSX.My stuff is all FS9.Joe
  22. Thanks, David ! I guess that's what it was. When I changed the radius (with AFCAD) to the 44m for the C-17 it worked. I changed back to the 100.36 feet with AFCAD and it didn't, where it had just been working prior to changing it to meters. I had originally set it up with AFX. Anyhow it works now, and again . . . constant learning from the master.Joe
  23. I like to think I am fairly proficient at AI flight plans, etc. But this one has me stumped.A couple of days ago I thought to do a military flight from Langley AFB (KLFI) to Wheunapi (NZWP), with RON stops along the way - KLFI > KVBG > PHNL > NZWP - and return - NZWP > PHNL > KEDW > KADW> KLFI. I used one of the USAF C-17's from MAIW's Hickam offering. Proper AFCADS in place with parking for MIL_CARGO and C17, M003 at all the stops. TT Tools compiled the flight and everything went great - I followed and/or waited for the C-17 at the stops with either the Toolbox or Traffic View Board. It all went fine until I was watching the C-17 on final to NZWP - it vanished about a quarter mile from touchdown! So I backed up an hour and tried it again. Now the A/C does not show up anywhere around NZ! I thought maybe the A/C file was messed up. But after checking, everything is in place. I checked out the return legs and the C-17 shows up back at Hickam, at Edwards, at Andrews and back at Langley right on schedule. After spending hours checking, rechecking flightplans, AFCADS, aircraft etc. the USAF C-17 would not appear in the skies of New Zealand. So I figured the Aussies should be on good enough terms with the Kiwis to let one of their planes land, and I made a flight plan with the RAAF C-17(MAIW again) from Amberly in Queensland (YAMB) to NZWP. Watched it take off then scooted ahead a few hours and miles and waited at NZWP. It never showed up -nothing - nada. Checked everything at least five or six times. Could find nothing amiss. Then I swapped A/C. I dug out an AI US NAVY Beech King Air C-90. Started from YAMB (put some long range tanks in the Beech :( ) and headed off to New Zealand. Scooted ahead. Waited. Lo and behold the Beech comes in and makes a perfect landing and taxis in to park!I've even tried to make the C-17 start from NZWP and just fly some touch & go. The C-17 does not show up - swapped to the Beech and there it is. The C-17 flies into all the other airports just fine.Sorry this is so long winded, but I'm stumped. Is there a "Bermuda Triangle" ("Lord Howe Island Triangle"?) ? Tomorrow I'm gonna try some other RNZAF airfields.Anyone have other ideas ?JoeFS9 - XP, etc.
  24. N60JB;That looks like it's the answer. I had noticed it before but always thought it was just an "arrivals & departures" panel.I'll give it a try . . . whoops . . . site is very busy, no downloads right now.Joe
