  1. Great, I'm glad it worked for you. :Applause:
  2. Did you have problems on the ground on Norfolk ? Haven't heard about any continuing flights. Prepositioning 1604 to Adak.
  3. Kiwi; TheOwls Nest has a prop fixer that has worked for me. It fixes all HTAI prop planes and some others too. (http://www.owlsnest.eu/maiw.php) Some others you just have to do one at a time. Hope this helps
  4. For what it's worth, I've just uploaded a zip to the library that contains a basic terminal and firehouse for KCHO. I was pushed for time when I uploaded the airport originally and didn't think I would get the buildings done in time for the flight.
  5. Luke: i'll be following along. Sounds like a neat idea. I will have two USCG C-130s in the air from both ends of the Hawaii - Dutch Harbor leg of your flight. One from Barbers Point headed north along your route, and one from Kodiak headed south. If you run into difficulties just give a call on Guard 121.5. We are 'Semper Paratus'. jmbiii (USCG Ret.)
  6. Okay, I've just uploaded the BETA KCHO scenery to the library. It should be available shortly. I admit there is quite a bit to be desired . . . it's certainly not anywhere as good as what some of the good freeware scenery artists produce, but it'll give you someplace to land better than the generic FSX depiction. Runway 3 would be the choice if you pass over Tom's house coming from KRIC.
  7. I'd love to be able to visit south of the equator to see those fly. And celebrate ANZAC day !
  8. What a great collection!
  9. Trucker; I won't be able to join the flight, however I have been working on photo real scenery and AFCAD for KCHO on and off for a few months. As CHO was Tom's and my 'home' airport, I had written Tom about it shortlty before he made his condition known. I had hoped to finish it before . . . Now only the tower/fire station are missing and night textures for the terminal. I will put together what I have and upload it as a very Beta/WIP prior to the flight so you all will have a place to land. Jmbiii
  10. There should be more 'Opa's'. Signed: A. Lurker
  11. Oh you kids. 1943

Today is my 70th. Like the original poster, THibben, said, when I started FS the lines on the screen were green ! Then the big jump to magenta, cyan, and red ! Keep going all you "oldies" ! Gotta go. The autopilot on my Duke is calling - time to get set up for the approach into CHO.
  13. Here's a good one. I have double rotating beacons at the stock airports. Both towers are visible in daytime and green-white beacons at night. They are usually about 200 - 400 feet apart. I've searched the forums and have not found any thing on this subject. Has anyone had this before ? Does anyone have a remedy ?
  14. I'm convinced on getting OPUS. Don't have REX or AS2012. Was going to try HDEV2 for the textures, however the sky textures cause FSX to lockup and quit. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remedy this? JB

Flight simming since early eighties. Must have been FS 2 or 3. FSX on a high end machine nowadays. I'll be 70 in a couple of months. Divide my time between Flight simming, my BMW moto and the d**m lawnmower.
  16. Joe; I hate to admit this, but I'm stupid. I read your answer. I verified that the light map alphas were correct. Black - white in proper places, greyscale, etc. All the technicals were proper. I had printed out your reply and it was lying on the desk in front of me while I watched for the hundredth time the EMB-120's taxi out at night. I read the first line. "I just checked mine and they are working as expected." Thought - well I haven't touched the textures in the other planes and they are working for him, why not mine ? Then as I read down the page again two words suddenly jumped out. " . . . landing lights . . .". Where were the landing lights ? You know, if there is no little red check mark in the box beside "Landing Lights" on the "Options- Aircraft" selection screen, the landing lights will not be on ? And if the landing lights are not on, guess what ? The windows will be dark ! ! Don't know when or why that selection had been unmarked. Aw well . . . . . live and learn. Many thanks for you reply and help. I hope others reading this and will gain something from my travails. Thanks again. Joe
  17. I've posted this question on another site with little response. Okay, I'm not the most experienced or talented painter. However I can hold my own. Admitted right off, this one has me stumped. Aircraft: AIA EMB-120 Paint Prog: GIMP - FSRepaint - DXT2BMP Problem: No night lights on any AIA EMB-120 when viewing the aircraft in FS9. I have painted an EMB-120 (soon to be uploaded to avsim) and have created an exceptional (IMHO) lightmap. Proper alpha channel and all. I can view the results of my work with the GIMP in FSRepaint. Switch to night view . . lights up just as expected. Place the EMB-120 in a flight plan including a night flight and only the nav lights and landing lights illuminate . . no windows. Pics are a bit dark . . . but it is nighttime ! In FSRepaint In FS9 You say, "Joe, you've missed something." That's what I said . . . many times. So i ended up checking all the AIA EMB-120 textures I have installed (all by different artists). All of them show up in FSRepaint with lights at night ! Lights on the tails, windows. Here's one in FSRepaint Made a custom afcad and flight plan for a mass night flight. All 9 of my EMB's show up and taxi out. None of the lights show up in FS9 at night. All AIA EMB-120's in FS9 I am hoping it's something I haven't done correctly and can be fixed . . . but I'm beginning to believe it's a "built into the model" problem. Any "Grand Master Painters" or model makers have any ideas? Please. Joe
  18. Thanks for the reply. No track IR and full screen. will try google search . . . I had just used search this forum in Avsim. JB
  19. This has been going on for a few months and I am finally getting irritated enough to do something about it. When selecting change aircraft from the drop down menu the display clears and is left with the blue topmost bar showing "Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight" and the next bar down shows the choices "Flights Aircraft World Options etc . . . . . . .". After 15 0r 20 seconds the bars change to gray and flight simulator becomes unresponsive. No amount of mouse clicking or keyboard pounding has any effect. You have to open Task Manager and "End Task" to gain control of the PC. Oh and very occasionally FS will open up the select aircraft window. I've "hangared" my AC, checked config files, have even changed all my AI back and forth from non-selectable to selectable. Nada. This only happens after you are in FS and have been flying for a bit. On initial start up you can select any aircraft with no problem. All of the AC in my aircraft folder show up to select. I have searched the forums for any problems similar and haven't found anything relevant. Does someone have any advice ?
  20. FWIW . . . the B-58 Hustler was a very shiny, bare aluminum aircraft to begin with.
  21. Still gone today . . . . . . . Henry was hosting Dee Waldron's AI models, too. Now they're all gone. Many thanks to both for their work.
  22. Trying to find the HTAI paint kit for the payware Cessnas with no luck. Neither of the two layered kits available here are opening for me in GIMP. The one in .php format is missing. This is the file I'm looking for . . . http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...&DLID=76902Does any one still have it ?Thanks;Joe
  23. Retired military (USN/ANG/USCG), retired metrologist, part-time pharmacy tech ($ for my toys) and armchair pilot.
  24. I use GIMP for almost all of my serious repaints. There are quite a few online tutorials . . . however, the one thing that helped me most in the beginning was a text book. I purchased it locally but I believe it is available on Amazon around US$32. "Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional" by Akkana Peck, published by "apress". ISBN 1-59059-587-4. There are other books, but this one has color photos which help a lot. There are books available in the Kindle format. Being old school I still like to feel paper.Like anything else it has a learning curve . . . practice, practice . . . and "control Z" !Hope this helps . . . cheers.Joe
  25. I don't output it to a CSV . . . I just click the VIEW button. That opens it up in notepad. Cut & paste to do what you want. Then close/save notepad. The renumber program sees that the .cfg has been changed and asks if you want to renumber. Yep! Then copy the "new" .cfg to FS. Works for me! Neat li'l program. :(
