Violent Wind Shear on short final
sticky1202 replied to sticky1202's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThe wake turbulence setting was at 50, and I lowered it to 20. Just completed a flight from KELP to KDFW with no problems.

Violent Wind Shear on short final
sticky1202 replied to sticky1202's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumTried another flight today from Atlanta to El Paso. Same issue happened again, even after lowering the thermal generation settings. Guess I'll just turn them off and see if that works. Jim

Violent Wind Shear on short final
Every now and then, I encounter this tremendous wind shear just before touchdown. The plane banks instantly about 40 degrees for a few seconds, then back. This is unrealistic, as the plane pretty much becomes uncontrollable. No thunderstorms or such in the area. I am using FS9. Could this be caused by ActiveSky, or maybe settings within FS9? I could not find a similar post here. Jim

Seeking recommendation: best AAL, DAL and UAL 738 winglet repaints
I know the AAL, and DAL winglet repaints are out there, although I do not remember where I found them. It's the elusive COA/UAL post merger repaint that has yet to be done I think. Jim

Seeking recommendation: best AAL, DAL and UAL 738 winglet repaints
I would second that request. I have been all over the internet, but did not find a current repaint of the United/Continental 737-800 winglet. Does anyone know any painters that still paint the old classic FS9 737's? Here's hoping!!! Jim

ERJ Wilco/Feelthere Repaint
Does anyone know of a repaint for the Wilco/Feelthere E135/145/145x in the new (2011) United Express colors for FS9? There is one out for FSX I've found, but I'm not sure if that works in FS9. Jim

Imagine Sim KDEN...
Do you have any problems picking up the ATIS? Jim
-
Imagine Sim KDEN...
I have the FS9 version. It looks really good. The main complaint I have is I can't seem to pick up the ATIS. It is listed in "comm" section of the AFCAD but doesn't appear to work for some reason. Also, none of the taxiways are labled. Taxi instruction are "taxi to runway xx via". That's it. The AFCAD is really sad. Also for those that try and work/fix on the AFCAD with ADE, the AFCAD will not compile due to errors which are not explained in the error message. So far Imaginesim support has not responded to my problems.Jim

FlyTampa Website Unsafe?
My Antivirus software (Norton) is telling me that the FlyTampa website is unsafe. "This is a known malicious web site. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this site. The detailed report explains the security risks on this site". I've never had this problem before. Is anyone else getting this warning? Thanks, Jim

White Flashing Blocks
Thanks! I checked out my texture file, and those particular tree files are all there. Interestingly, I changed a few of my display settings, went up in a default aircraft, and at least for this one flight the blocks did not appear. Jim

White Flashing Blocks
Here is a screen shot of these annoying white blocks. Again, they show up, but they do disappear, and the textures (ground) goes back to normal. Then they show up somewhere else, and do the same thing. If I was missing textures, wouldn't the "white spots" be permanently displayed? This happens everywhere, approximately 10,000 feet and below. Jim

White Flashing Blocks
I think ASE is a great add-on. I will try and get a screen shot. Is it possible to add on a scenery, and somehow delete textures by doing so? I've added on many sceneries over the years without a problem. Jim

White Flashing Blocks
I'm using FS9, and after adding addon scenery for Cancun, and also adding "Activesky Evolution" recently, I'm seeing these white blocks show up, and then disapperar. Almost like flashing. This happens continuosly at every airport I've flown to in the last week. I have tried removing the Cancun scenery to no avail. The problem started just before I installed "activesky evolution", so I doubt that was it either. Could it be another recently added scenery affecting all of these airports? Any ideas appreciated...thanks! Jim

Afcad For Kord From Fsdreamteam
I've read that thread, but it does not seem to address the question. Are there any tutorials out there on how to use/create the crosswind runways technique work in all weather conditions, or an AFCAD for the FSDreamteam KORD scenery that has this in place? I'm not even sure it's possible to do, seeing as no one has done it already that I'm aware of. Jim

Afcad For Kord From Fsdreamteam
Does anyone know of an AFCAD available for FSDreamteams KORD that utilizes the crosswind(star) technique regardless if the airport is IFR? The AFCAD I'm using lists all the "fake" runways, but under IFR conditions, still only utilizes 2 parallel runways at a time making for very long take off lines. I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to do this. Apparently there was one on the PAI forums, but is now gone. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jim

Another User Back To FS9
After months of trying all the tricks and adjustments to get FSX to run acceptable to me, I am joining the ranks of those returning to FS9. My computer is mid to upper end (I'll spare the details because it's not relevent at this point). It runs FS9 with dozens of addon scenery/AI traffic/addon flyable planes like PMDG's 737/747's, level D's 767, with all settings maxed to the right with hardly a stutter. Frustration, frustration, frustration sums up FSX. I will continue to keep it on my HD, but after weighing the +++'s and the ---'s, FS9 is the way to go. After reading the other stories of simmers returning to FS9, I hope the developers, both freeware and payware continue to churn out addons for the many staying with FS9. For those who are able to run FSX acceptably to THEM, congratulations! For those of us who can't, I am looking forward to maybe a patch from MS, or bring on FS11(hopefully designed from scratch). Thanks for allowing me to blow off a little steam. Jim:-)
