New Aircraft Hint
Hi all,For me it looks more like the back of a jet engine with reverse open. It's is not a propeller hub. What you see below the image is too small to be a propeller blade root.A the left of the image you can see some green spot what could be some of the fitting of reverse system. For me it's more like a CRJ or business jet engine.Take a closer look.best regardsAmedee

Prop RPM?
Hi All,As Stated above, Constant speed propellers and correlated RPM handle are to be considered as a car shift gear. The general principle is the following: High RPM gives you max respons from the engine like in 1st gear. When increasing/decreasing throttle, speed will increase / decrease more rapidely. You can also compare it to a screw with a small pitch, when you turn it into wood for one round it will not go very deep into the wood, a high pitch screw will go much deeper into wood in one turn. Low RPM gives you slower respons from the engine like in 5th gear. Mean reason for this is when at high TAS (in cruise) you need your popeller to rotate at a lower rate otherwise, the addition of propeller rotation speed and TAS of the aircraft can lead to reach speed of sound at propeller blade tip which leads to heavy shockwaves on propeller blades and engine crank shaft.Rule of thumb to use a constant speed propeller on a normally aspirated engine (no Turbo): take off : High RPM full throttle (MAP) After take off (+/- 400 ft AGL if no obstacle to clear) reduce to climb power which is MAP 25' and 2500 RPM ajuste speed for best climb rate or best climb angle. When reaching level flight: upon the speed you want to fly, select a power setting: 85%, 75%, 65% are usually used. These power settings can be achieved by selecting a couple MAP/RPMUsually Normal aspirated engines feel better between 6000-8000 ft for cruise depending on temperature.85% stay at MAP25' and RPM 2500 (setting called 25/25) gives you highest airspeed in cruise but also highest fuel consumption. This power setting is also known as high speed cruise. 75% reduce to MAP 24' and RPM 2400 (setting called 24/24) gives you a fair airspeed and normal fuel consumption. This power setting is also known as normal cruise. 65% reduce to MAP 23' and RPM 2300 (setting called 23/23) gives you a low airspeed but will save your fuel. This power setting is also known as long range cruise. [*]Don't forget to lean your engine when climbing as air becomes thiner with altitude, you need to decrease the amount of fuel in the mixture fuel /air in the carburator. To control the correct setting of your mixture control, use a EGT gauge (Exhaust gas Temperature) lean up to peak EGT then enrich a bit one graduation or use the MAP indicator lean your mixture util MAP decrease then re-enrich mixture for about one inch in mouvement of the mixture lever.[*]Don't forget to ALWAYS move your levers in the following order: Increasing power: Mixture, Propeller, Throttle Decreasing power: Throttle, Propeller, Mixture [*]Descent: when starting descent try to throttle back very easy to avoid thermal shocks to the engine. Same for the mixture, do not re-enrich to fast to avoid thermal shocks. When descending TAS will increase and MAP will too, search for a setting close to what you had in cruise.[*]Approach: Put Mixture full rich. Keep you propeller to your cruise setting adjust speed with throttle and aircraft pitch.[*]Final approach and landing: Put slowly propeller to high RMP verify Mixture full rich, adjust speed with aircraft pitch and descent with thottle. Be prepared for go-around. Note: This a very brief summary on how to handle a constant speed propeller, don't shoot at me if it is not exactly what should be done in a RW aircraft.hope this will helpAmedee

HU: 737 PIC Evo available as of now
Hi all,Found another bug not yet reported (I think). On the RMI, the VOR/ADF 1&2 are reversed. When ADF is selected the needle points in fact to the VOR and when VOR is selected the needle points to the NDB station. this for the NAV 1 & 2 needles.Texture bugs:On the pop-up EFIS panel the button NAV AID is spelled incorrectly NAF AIDWhen looking to the right wing, the NO STEP sign on the ground spoilers is reversed (mirror effect).A question now: regarding pressurization, the landing elevation is not set automatically despite selecting an arrival airport in FMC, Cruise altitude is not synchronized with FMC CRZ ALT and optimum cabin altitude is not computed is this normal ? Are all those features NG stuff? I can't recall if it was like that in RL 737 classics.thanks for your feedbackAmedee

C337 Avionics missing functions or not working
Dear all, Apart the fact that the aircraft has a very realistic behavior, I was deeply disappointed with the level of realism from the avionics proposed (except the GNS 430 which can be replaced by the reality-XP one). Collins audio panel: Marker test switch position not working;Collins Com/Nav: Frequency store function not working;King/Bendix KR87 ADF: no functions from the actual device are modeled, Frq switching, Flt/ET function, and most important the ADF button (That I use to check if the needle of the ADF indicator is not U/S);King/Bendix KT76A transponder: The Ident button doesn't function;King/Bendix DME indicator: the Hold position is not implemented;Suction indicator: The two small red plastic balls should be out of sight when the suction pumps are working (red ball should appear when suction pump fails or is not working e.g. associated engine is shut down.) and the needle should indicate less than 6 PSI (as already reported in another thread);ASI: the TAS ring is not working. Is there any plans to implement some or all of those functions? Best regards, Amedee

AICarriers2r2 problem Java error
Dear all,After several months of search around internet to solve the JAV error dialog box at the start of FSX, I found the solution on a Java developers forum.A windows system file (mysteriously modified, maybe by a windows auto-update) that can be found under C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. it's the hosts file. Open it with notepad and add the following line if not there:127.0.0.1 localhostafter the following line. :: 1 localhostSave it to your desktop ( window won't allow you too save back in it original place. Then navigate back to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and override the existing file with the modified one from your desktop. That's it fire up FSX and enjoy AICarriers2r2. It solved my problem but some others may have another problem. Please note that AICarriers can't be fired up independantly from FSX. Its need to be fired up via the exe.xml file. The root ause is that IPv6 is incompatible with AICarriers and it need the IPv4 loopback address. Why is the hosts file modified? I don't know.Hope this will help and please feed back would be appreciated.Best regards,Amedee

FSX Carrier Ops Review
Got the same problem with AICarriers2r2 with a Java error and still no luck under vista 32 Ultimate. Had a fellow on a french forum who had to format C to get it work. Nobody I know had found a answer to our problem yet. I tried to contact Lamont Clark, the author, but he seems a little upset against the community and will not answer mails anymore (as per his website). If anybody out there with a less radical solution than format C would be nice.best regards,Amedee

Really missing the PMFP flight planner
Dear folks,I really miss the PMFP flight planner. I never found in any other flight planner the same features and especially the possibility to customise your navlog to your (virtual) company SOP's.To get back in time (2004), the PMFP was an free XML web based planner with a lot of possibilities and using the Eurocontrol aircraft perfo tables. It was down after a mainframe crash and never went back online. The creator which was from Finland ,if I remember well, was doing his military duty and had no time to reset the software back online.I have still the XML files I made available to the community for short-medium haul OFP's and long haul OFP's.I would like to know if someone of you has the source files from the creator of PMFP? May be someone with XML programming knowledge could reborn the project?I really miss this superb piece of software.Best regards,Amedee

ATC window auto-close
Dear Folks,I'm pretty sure that in the very early days of MS FSX I read a topic on how to auto-close the ATC window after answering the ATC request like in FS9.It was from an Italian simmer who had made some changes into a XML file from FSX. I don't remember in which forum or blog I read this, I even don't remember which XML file to modify.Does someone else her around who remembers the same as me?I tried multiple seaches on Google without any result. Might that trick be part of a payware ATC software and therefore not available to the community?I hope someone of you could help me with this...Thank you to all af you.Best regardsAmedee
