Xpax over Simconnect Network
thomamaxi replied to anchit02's topic in MS FSX | FSX=SE | P3D Simconnect Forum
Hi Jim, Firstly, thank you again for taking the time to assist me. it is people like you who help restore faith in human nature with your generosity. I am still puzzled. I have got all thre of the files you mention above ready to install but I am worried because of this message regarding the SP2 update: 'This update includes the changes to the FSX Software Development Kit required for those developers who have installed FSX Service Pack 2. IMPORTANT: If you have already installed Flight Simulator X: Accelerationexpansion pack, do not install the SDK Update for Service Pack 2.' The reason I say worried is because I have already installed Accceleration and I did install the SDK that came with it. However, I have since uninstalled the SDK from my system in preparation to install the three files you mention above. Is is safe to install them given that I have uninstalled my previous version of the Acceleration version of SDK? Also, Do I install them in the order that you mention? Thanks again for your help. Xpax over Simconnect Network

HI Jim, I am not sure if I am doing this correctly at all. I installed the SDK from the Acceleration Disc but when I try to install SDK spa1 it tells me I need to insert the original FSX disc. I can't do this as it is damaged and my back up copy doesn't read the directory structure on the disk. Paul -
Xpax over Simconnect Network
thomamaxi replied to anchit02's topic in MS FSX | FSX=SE | P3D Simconnect Forum
HI , Jim, it just says connected 2 , that's all. If I have the verbose set to 1 I see a lot of scribble but apart from that nothing else happens. I am starting again. 'Simconnect Versions' (plural)? Oh gee this gets worse and worse and 'order' What order? This is a bloody nightmare to set-up. Paul -
Hello, Can someone please tell me what settings I should have for my pmdg Null Zone and Sensitivity settings? I messed something up mucking about with them and now my yoke twitches from side to side when on the ground and flickers during flight. Paul

Xpax over Simconnect Network
thomamaxi replied to anchit02's topic in MS FSX | FSX=SE | P3D Simconnect Forum
Hi Jim, Thank you for your contributions here. I have been trying to get Simconnect working to run XPAX for years now but without success. Anyway, over the past few days I have spent sometime working on Simconnect and finally seem to have made some progress. I have it installed and when i tested with the Ai exe in the SDK folder it said I was connected. however, when I run XPAX it says make sure FSX is running. It is running? I forgot to mention. Although when I did the test it says "connected" people say you should see a green bar scrolling across the top of FSX indicating this. I didn't see such a bar? Hope you can help Paul -
What on earth have I done?

Finally I seem to have a Simconnect!!! I tested it using the recommended AI in the SDK. However, when I run Xpax it says that FS is not running but it is! I have looked at what it might be and the only thing I found is this: Step 2: SimConnect.xmlIn order for local as well as remote add-ons to operate correctly within FSX, care must be taken to have a proper SimConnect.xml configuration file setup. You will need two Comm sections, one global (for network connections) and one local (for local connections). What does it mean "You will need two Comm sections"??? Thanks Paul -
Thank you Bob. Have a nice day! Paul

What on earth have I done?

Yes! Got it thanks. using port 500. I am curious what happens if I turn off my anti-virus and firewall when just running FSX. Is it dangerous to do that? Also, you don't happen to have a link to the stand alone for the client do you? FSdveloper.com freaks me out with so much information. -

Thank you so much. I have another question if I may. I am required to allow Simconnect through my firewall but where is the program located 'simconnect' so I can direct my firewall to it so that I can allow it? thanks again Paul -

Thank you! I got rid of it. Now I have to trawl my way through the literature ad see if I can get this thing working. On the client (PC with the programs I wish to run) I m getting an error saying something about I need to re-install Sp2 etc? but it says that I shouldn't install sp2 if I have acceleration (which I do). One cancels out the other??? Paul -

Hello, Thank you very much for your reply. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I am dumb when it comes to simconnect, completely! I might as well be reading Chinese. Could you kindly elaborate as I have no idea, especially about the 'verbose parameters' Thanks Paul Do I need to change something here: [simConnect] level=verbose console=1 ;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1 ;OutputDebugString=1 ;file=c:\simconnect%03u.log ;file_next_index=0 ;file_max_index=9 Paul -
Simconnect diagnostic window wont close
thomamaxi replied to jdx78br's topic in MS FSX | FSX=SE | P3D Simconnect Forum
Same issue here. I just posted about this but overlooked your post. Paul -
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to view this post. For over three years now I have skirted around messing with Simconnect because I never could get my head around it. However, I now find myself in need of it (apparently) after building a new system and having other programs on another networked PC. In particular, XPAX and FSmaps. Today, I finally tried to get the dam thing working and made somesort of progress because I have never seen this before (see attachment) What on earth have I done? It just keeps scrolling on and on and I have to close FSX to stop it. Any help will be hugely appreciated. Thank you in advance, Paul

I have had years of frustration with FSX and I finally went crazy and got myself a new rig with a Geforce 780. I finally can now run everything as smooth as silk and I am getting 300 Fps. I sympathize with your situation because I have been there. The worst part about it is the expectations. i use to read there is only one way around all this and that is to get the best. Paul -
I just built a new rig with a Gerforce 780 installed and I saw my FPS hit 300 yesterday. I hope I am not damaging my card or board in anyway because I mucked about with it and I didn't really know what I was doing. Is it OK to be getting such frame rates? Paul

Hi Noel, Thank you for your reply. If I understand you correctly should I just put the OS on asingle HDD drive and Prepar3d on the SSD with scenery files o the the other free SSD? If this is the case do I need to do anything with the swap file? I am not sur how to move it or where to move it? Does Prepar3d depend heavly on the OS when running? I thought the idea of putting it on the SSD drive would help Prepard3d run more smoothly. Paul
