Words I need to share with our Community
I don't really know what to say. As a simmers I used to naviagate on this site for years and you,Tom have always been a friendly presence for all of us. As a doctor, I can only say : enjoy every hour from now on and stay with your beloved every minute to share each others vicinity. I don't know if there's something after our life, and I don't really care, but I know that what we've done will be forever. Ciao. Maurizio

is it me or what...?
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.I've been around with FS since the first version on old and romantic Commodore 64, now I've been working for a couple of years on building a complete home-cockpit of a B737-800 based on 5 PCs linked on a net (PC1 is only running FSX and the outside visual at 180° on a semicircular screen 5 meters wide via three video projectors ruled by a Matrox Triple Head Digital) while the other 4 Pcs share the various parts of the Avionic software (plus squawkbox for online flight, etc).so believe me, when I say I'm not a newbie.I only meant that, as soon as I was back home from vacation I installed NGX and was surprised not to achieve a decent, flyable plane as I am used to.Obviously i miss to read and "study" all the manuals as you say.... As above, you're definitely right : I'm going to study manuals, but.... Seems I'm not the only one to have problems with graphical issues or strange behaviour of VC panels (lot of threads on that). This can be annoying but I honestly not even NEED to have a virtual cockpit, as in my cockpit I not even HAVE a display for it. (cockpit is actually in front of my seat) . Anyway, it souds strange to me that it is not selectable (maybe a uninstall/reinstall can help?)7FPS are really frustrating, but that happens to me ONLY with NGX. Anyway, even in this case, I read many others complaining about FPS.In conclusion : maybe we have to wait for some SP.

- is it me or what...?
As all of you, I expected for a long time the release of our preferred aircraft for FSX.Having seen all the videos and reviews about it I buyed it as soon I got home from vacation. After the good experience with PMDG 737 for FS9 I'm sure NGX will be at least the "best" for my home-cockpit, based now on FSX.Well, I don't know if I missed something or did something wrong (?) but NGX is simply "unflyable" on my system.Even taxiing is an adventure: it goes left and right. Not to speak of climbing, turning, change speed, etc..Now, I'm not a newbie, so I'm a bit confused by that.1) Installation looked OK, but : why I can't have a virtual cockpit view (it is not selectable even from the menu bar)?2) Doesn't it create a new entry in menu bar (FS9 version did it) ?3) Is it normal to get a 7/8 FPS at gate in KSFO or EDDF ? (normally, with other plane I get 20/25 FPS)In conclusion : I'm surely missing something or doing something wrong, but What?PMDG did a wonderful work and I only want to enjoy it, but am I alone with this kind of problems? FSX runs on: i7 980X 3,33Ghz - MoBo Asus Extreme II - GEForce GTX 480 1536Mb - RAM 6GB DDR3 1800Mhz. maurizio- Re-activation ?
Hope this is the right place where to ask something.....Hi all !I've been using FSX acceleration since the very first day after its delivery, sort out any kind of problems and tweaks , but that's new for me.Due to a full HDD I upgraded my system changing both HDD and mainboard. Then made a image copy of old Hard disk onto the new one.All is working properly , I had to reactivate Win7 cause the new hardware configuration, but all is OK now.All except FSX of course: at startup it gives me a warning message about activation of software, after 30 minutes it shuts down itself, and the copy is registered as "TRIAL"Now my question is : how the hell I can reactivate FSX ? I can't see any way to do that. I tried to insert the installation disk and repair my setup but with no result:Any hints ?Maurizio- Which RAM?
MAUCINTI replied to MAUCINTI's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcUnfortunately, Mushkin is not available on sale in Italy, and to buy at a foreign site is not economically advisable.so I think I must choose between Corsair and Kingston. (1800/2000 Mhz, depending on prices and availability)You confirm that SLI isn't advisable .But what about MoBo?I can't see the real differences between Rampage II extreme and P6X58D (except price, of course)Thank you .Ciaomaurizio- Which RAM?
I'm going to upgrade my PC n.1 for my B737NG Home-Cockpit.This is the machine that runs FS9, FSX , MCP software and some other stuff...so I need good performances.Outside view will be addressed to a Matrox THTG who split screen on three video projectors (3072x768), so I need good video card as well.My choice is : I7 980X - Asus Rampage II extreme - Msi Nvidia GeForce GTX480 (don't know if x2 SLI , not sure about better performance). What's your advice about RAM ? I think 6Gb is enough, but what brand and type is best on such system ?Curious to see your opinion.ciaomaurizio- Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition
MAUCINTI replied to a post in a topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcSorry, I don't understand : Your system is based on i7-980x with 6GB Ram and your OS is windows XP 32 bit ???Why waste all that potential with such a limited OS ?CiaoMaurizio- Mesh problem ?
I got it !Following your instructions, I disabled addons sceneries of western emisphere and reintroduced one at the time..and...find out an old scenery I installed some years ago (Nynemesh.zip = New York and new England scenery) downloaded from flightsim.comIt nested a huge BGL file (171 Mb) and in the words of his creator : "Covers the area between approximately longitude W-70 and W-80 and latitude N40 to N45 including approximately all of the states of New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and major portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire (virtually all) and Maine, and even some of southern Ontario."Deactivated it in scenery.config and voilà, the world return to normal !I must thank you so much: without your help I'll never find out a solution.CiaoMaurizio- Mesh problem ?
WOW !!!!that's a lot of work to do !I'll surely check all the things you advise and I'll keep you informed about progress (if any)Thank you again for precious information about the structure and architecture of FS.p.s.: My favourite "toy" is always the old Piper Super Cub. What a joy fluttering above water with it !:Hug:ciao Maurizio- Mesh problem ?
Thank you very much for your kind and exhaustive response to my question.I'll surely give a look at all the aspects you mention, even if the world of FS scenery builders is all new to me!Anyway, it sounds weird to me that the reason could be a conflict/overlapping between sceneries , as I neither installed any other scenery in the proximity, nor have 3rd party mesh of Canada (if I remember....but you know: years pass and mind fades away... ) :Silly:More : I tried to deactivate Blueprint scenery, but as I wrote, the terrain was still lower than airport for a very wide area around : I also noticed that water level isn't involved.Lake Ontario is at the same level of airport and seems a big inflatable pool placed on the grass ! and Lake Simcoe is the same as well .I never noticed something like that , but I've just installed CYYZ scenery : we have just come back from vacations in Canada, and I like to virtually fly where we really have stayed !p.s.: all the people we take for a flight over the lake want to see George Clooney's house ! (ladies and girls hope to actually SEE him) I think he's quite bothered for all the seaplanes fluttering above his head :Hypnotized:Lake LA4-200 is still in our fleet and flies and flies...www.aeroclubcomo.comCiao,Maurizio- Mesh problem ?
Hi!. I re-post here a topic I addressed at FS9 forum some day ago. I hope this is the place where some "guru" can give me a key ....I'm sure this is an old subject... but anyway, could someone help me?Last night flying online to Toronto CYYZ, I noticed the "strange" terrain around the airport. It seems to be an "escavation" all around, and the airport is located in a sort of flat "hill".I noticed that this occurs both with Blueprint CYYZ scenery activated and de-activated, so I argue it's not a scenery-related problem.I attached some screenshots self-explaining.Thanks for any idea.CiaoMaurizio- Strange terrain !
Thank you for response. No, I did not install terrain mesh in North America (I have all European sceneries corrected by "right" mesh scenery)I've just given a look to Flattex 1.0.1 and, if I don't misunderstand, it can "flatten" a specific area you assign to it, and that's is useful. But I fear that in my case I need to "lift" up an area around the airport and set it at the right "altitude" , as all the surrounding world is.Do you think the program can do this?Ciao.Maurizio- Strange terrain !
