  1. And they do, I've seen pics of shattered windshields after overheating and the only thing that saved the day was the multiple layers of lamination.
  2. I'm pretty sure that if the window heat didn't cycle on and off on the ground during a 90 degree day the window would overheat.
  3. Working on it but at a very, very, very slow pace due to the sheer cost of it. I think I'll stop at the instrument rating because if I do fly for a living it will be with the Flight Service department. Since military isn't a good option due to eyesight (20/40) and I do not want to fly with a regional with a big license debt on my shoulders I rather take the flight service route.
  4. I usually cap it at around 9 hours, after that I really look forward to getting on the ground and shutting her down.
  5. If you spend less than 30% of the flight at the controls then its a mere logbook pad, its like fishing but you are not at the reel most of the time. IAD from LHR is a pond hop and I can see people sticking around for much of it.
  6. Those guys do it simply to pad their log books at a VA or vataware. That's why I only cross the pond.
  7. Get it for the pushback feature if nothing else.
  8. Not saying its a bad career and no one should do it but I like the fact that I don't have to sink a huge amount of money to be a flight attendant and then start working at low pay with huge expenses to pay off, plus it would be a good to get a degree in something other than flying because furlough always happen even in the good old days.
  9. Maybe you can have a camera pointed at the overhead or something.
  10. Is your mail drop B-103 (ORD crews) down at K-19? If so then I deliver your mail along with everyone else's down at flight admin.
  11. I kinda envision myself working more with flight service vs being the pilot, I like to fly for fun but not so sure if I would enjoy it as a job.
  12. The A380's early timing has also put a major dent in the 747 program with over 200 orders.
  13. If a journalist hold credentials and experience in his main field of reporting then he is far more credible in my eyes.
