  2. Thanks Ron, Upgrading fsuipc from 4.936 to 4.937 and making sure that both RC shortcut advanced settings were set to "run as administrator" worked. I didn't have to go to fsuipc 4.927d. I did get a warning when loading fsuipc saying my version of P3D (2.3.11345.0) was newer than it was aware of, but that doesn't seem to be an issue. Regards, Jim :-)

  4. I have RC 4.3.3845 running with P3Dv2.3 using FSUIPC 4.936. When I enter a keyboard command for RC I get the following error message: Run-time error '75' RadarContact.fsuipc.rcv4code Any suggestions? Regards Jim
  5. Hi Bob, I can only guess, but it sounds like a throttle calibration issue to me. Personally, I calibrate with FSUIPC. Regards, Jim :-)

  7. Thanks Yoda, What you say makes a lot of sense. It may well be a calibration problem. I used FSUIPC to calibrate the low end of my throttles for reverse. On subsequent landings since that fatal one, I've noticed its exceptionally hard to generate power. I know turbines take a while to spool up, but this is ridiculousness , I have been flying turbo props and fan jets in FSX for years so I know you need to anticipate and make small thrust lever changes, but when you find yourself low and slow and you've been advancing the throttles and its been like 15 seconds and not much is happening, you're dead. Also thanks for the tips on approach, 500 feet, and threshold speeds. I usually try to keep blue line (121 kts) till short final. As for crosswinds, 35 years ago in the real world, I failed my first flight exam for poor crosswind technique. I worked with an instructor for months till I was able to to crab, wing low, and side slip in my sleep. We used to go hunting for airports with lousy crosswinds. We drove one controller nuts always asking for the crosswind runway. But thrown in heavy gusts and maybe even a some wind shear and it can get very interesting very fast. So you try to execute a go around because you prefer to live, but the power just never seems to come, so you die. Enjoy your flights, Jim :-)

  9. Hi Gregg, I learned to fly in the 1970's in real aircraft but gave it up because it's way to expensive for a poor man's hobby. Then Microsoft released FS1 and I've been hooked ever since. I agree some things are much easier in a real airplane than the simulator. Lining up with a runway, especially in light winds, is not all that hard in a real airplane, but it the simulator, with its 2D vision, it takes concentration. And yes, peripheral vision makes a world of difference. Flying a simple circuit (upwind, crosswind, downwind, base, and final) around a airport is also easy in.real life. I never have been able to do that by hand with grace and style in FS. I do have a TrackIR, but it's just not the same thing as real peripheral vision. Regards, Jim :-)
  10. I have been flying FS since the 1980's and consider myself a fairly accomplished pilot. I was on short final and had just disengaged the autopilot when the aircraft began a violent left/right osculation There was also lot of turbulence and a strong cross wind. From the sound of the engines I realized I had failed to turn the prop sync off. When I attempted to flip the switch, the violent osculation and turbulence prevented me from positioning the mouse over the switch with enough accuracy to turn the sync off. The aircraft was uncontrollable so I applied full throttle to execute a go around, but the osculation got even worse and I crashed. Later I realized I had also failed to advance the prop leavers to "high rpm" at the start of the approach. These two "pilot errors" proved fatal. I know its only a simulator, but it's been long time since I've crashed. After the flight, I programmed a switch on my joystick using FSUIPC4 to "toggle" the prop sync so I can turn it off even in "turbulence." I have been developing check lists for the B200, but hadn't got around to developing the approach and landing check list yet. The "Normal Procedures" manual calls for leaving the the "prop SYN" on all of the time (page 2 item 3.b.). I understand this is true for newer King Airs but not older ones. The "Normal Procedures" manual also calls for advancing the prop levers to "HIGH RPM" at the beginning of the descent (page 14 Descent a. 4. or page 15 b. 4.). I am accustomed to going "high rpm" in a turboprop when you reach the final approach fix, which I failed to do in this case. Fortunately, it is only a simulator, so I got to live, and learn, and fly again. Regards, Jim :-)
  11. Thanks Bert, It doesn't seem to make any difference if the "Instrument Reflections" are on or off. All of the knobs, including the power on/off knob, work property in the pop-up window, but in the 3-D panel, the power knob doesn't work and the others knobs are all touchy. I can live with it since I'm usually setting the first unit most anyway, and I can always use the pop-up to set the second. Try setting the radio frequencies on the second unit in the 3-D panel and you'll notice the quirks. I'm also have some problems with the radio frequencies bouncing back and forth. But that happens on both units and also happens in RealAir Turbine Duke as well, so it's not aircraft related. Regards, Jim :-)
  12. Hi Bert, I know this is nitpicking, but as you can see in the picture below, that second GNS is still using the Carenado "face" but has the RXP "guts." This is most apparent by the lack of the XP logo on the upper right hand corner. What this means is that the power switch on the second GNS doesn't work and the selector knobs on the lower right hand corner work, but are awkward. I saw the same thing in a picture of your B200 panel with two RXP 530s you posted elsewhere in this forum. This is beyond my technical abilities. Do you have any ideas? Thanks, Jim :-)

  15. Hi Bert, The problem was with the RXPGNS.INI file. When I replaced it with the version you supplied everything worked fine. I'm not sure how the one I had got messed up. As I said, the Reality XP installer created it. Anyway, I appreciate your help. The Carenado B200 and the Reality XP 530s should be a great combination to fly. Thanks, Jim :-)
  16. Thanks for the reply Bert, I corrected the errant line, and still nothing. I then first returned to the B200 with two Carenado 530s, that worked fine. I then ran Carenado's RXP530.exe install program and the left hand RXP 530 worked fine with the Carenando's 530 in the right position. I then edited the panel.cfg and changed only the "gauge05=GPS530_3D_B200!GPS_5302_3D" line to "gauge05=rxpGNS!GNS530_2" in the [Vcockpit01] section. Then, when I run the B200 in FSX, the left RXP 530 works, but the right 530 will not power up (blank screen)." Any other suggestions. Thanks, Jim :-)
  17. Hi All, I had previously installed the first Reality XP 530 using Carenado's RXP530.exe file and it has worked fine in the right position along side Carendado's 530. I recently purchased the unlimited package so I could use two RXP 530s cross-filled and have Reality's TCAS. I ran Reality XP's installer (GNS WAAS FSX config) for the Carenado B200 which created two files: RXPSTACK.INI in the panel sub-directory, RXPGNS.INI in the Carenado_B200_King_Air aircraft directory. I then edited the B200 panel.cfg and replaced: "B200KA!ToggleCAR530" with "rxpGNS!GNS530_2" "GPS530_3D_B200!GPS_5302_3D" with "rxpGNS!GNS530_2" When I start FSX and load the B200 the right RXP 530 continues to work fine, but the left one still shows the Carenado 530 face (no RXP logo) and will not power on (blank screen). Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? FYI: The two RXP 530s are working fine in the RealAir's Turbine Duke RealAir's installer. Thanks, Jim :-)
  18. Hi Al, I also have the Reality XP 530 in both the Real Air Duke and the Carenado B200 and I see that same thing. It tracks dead on in the Duke but a few degrees off in the King Air, Has me baffled. -- Jim

Also, you can change the sounds sets by running the executable programs in the B200 folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado_B200_King _Air BE900X_2.1_SOUND_SET.exe BE900X_ORIGINAL_SOUND.exe Regards, Jim :-)

  23. The beacons under the belly and on top of the tail should both be red. I've noticed that the beacon on top of the tail is white. Is anyone else seeing this? Hopefully I haven't messed up the aircraft.cfg file. Regards, Jim :rolleyes:
  24. I've read a number of post here where people are asking whether or not they should buy the Carenado King Air B200. The answer to that question depends mostly on why you're interested in siming in general and in a general aviation twin turbo prop in particular. Some people want particular aircraft for making videos and doing repaints, This is a great airplane for those purposes. The visual model is excellent. Then there are people, like me, who are mostly interested in the piloting experience. This is a good airplane for those people, but in my humble opinion, it's not quit great. It's not of the caliber of PMDG, but of course it doesn't cost that much either and PMDG doesn't do general aviation aircraft. That said, on the piloting side, this aircraft's implementation certainly is on par with most payware add-ons. At this moment, if you want a King Air for FSX and want a turbo prop because they're fun to fly into smaller airports, it's really only Careneda's C90 and B200 to choose from. Others are working on King Air projects for FSX. For example, MilViz is working on a 350, which I'll likely buy that when it's released. (I have MilViz's Cessna 310 and love it,) I just wish Careneda could excel on the piloting side as much as they do on the graphics modeling side. For example, RealAir's Turbine Duke is a great plane on both sides, but of course it cost a bit more too. (RealAir does 3-D cockpits right.) Personally, I passed on the C90 because of the avionics and I'm flying the B200 using my Reality-XP 530W to replace Corenado's 530W. The B200's weather radar caught my eye, buts it's just eye candy as meaningful weather radar remains elusive in the siming world. Nonetheless, I do feel Carenado's B200 is worth the $40.   25. Hi,I just reloaded Radar Contact Version 4 after upgrading my computer to a Wim 7 machine. When I go to load a FSX flight plan into RC the program brings up the CorelDraw Suite 12 installer program. I looked and CorelDraw doesn't have any of the Radar Contact files extensions (.pln or .rc4) assigned to it. I can only guess that there is a conflict with Corel Draw's installer's name. Any thoughts on how to rectify this conflict would be appreciated.Regards,Jim :-)
