  1. I admit that I'm a bit of a bloody galah, but after having been given the drum earlier on in this thread I got that part alright. On the other hand I didn't need to have it spelled out in "words of of one syllable" either, so how about pullin' in your scone, sport?
  2. Guys, thank you very much, you cleared it up for me! And Chock, I'm looking forward to your review! Why, it might even help me make a decision to buy it which, due to the usual monetary circumstances, is a step not to be taken lightly! Thanks again, you were all of much help. Be well!
  3. I'm undoubtedly stupid, but I can't for the life of me figure out what Prepar3d is and/or what it does. Is it a new flight simulator kinda like MSFS and XPlane? Is it an add-on for FSX? If the latter, what does it do? If the former, what is its connection with FSX? Do I need FSX to use Prepar3d? Sorry guys... my autistic brain is playing up, and I can't find sufficient data in the official www.prepar3d.com site to even remotely figure out what on earth it IS... The info is undoubtedly there, but apparently in a format that doesn't mesh with me. I'm a bit upset... this is the first time that I really can't understand what something is and/or does...
  4. If that happens I'll whip out the plastic so fast that it melts! To Jan Visser: pity to see you go, matey! But be happy, and enjoy life!
  5. Hi Bill! How's the wide-screen 2D panel coming up? I made one myself of course, but I'm not exactly a professional so I'm looking forward to a better version! Be well! Jaap.
  6. A pleasant and helpful gentleman, Opa was.
  7. That's my third R4D, I believe. Got one for FS2002, a new one for FS2004, and now the updated FSX version. I tend to lose my downloads and misplace my CD's you know... (bashful grin)! Anyway, it serves a good purpose - I understand that the Museum, not unlike most non-profit organizations, is kind of short of money. So Bill and colleagues: churn out the all new, improved dedicated FSX version, and again I'll be buying!By the way: Jan Visser had a very good panel for the FS2002 version of the DDZ of the Dutch Dakota Association, which I seem to remember I also used for FS2004. This is one of the things I lost over the years due to crashing hard discs and the buying of new computers - do you know, Bill, if Jan still has it available? I'd like to use it in FSX, even if I have to do a lot of adapting. Be well! Jaap Verduijn.
  8. Oh, alright... I couldn't resist anymore... a few days ago I bought the new R4D download for FSX! Had 30 bucks lying around that I couldn't find a useful purpose for, so I thought: "Why not MAAM"? (wide grin)!
  9. Greetings!I'm possibly (probably?) mistaken but... I don't understand the talk about backward compatibility with FSX. Why would a completely new simulator with a completely new engine and such, (have to) be compatible with a different, outdated, heavily criticized simulator? Also, I don't understand statements like "There's no way I'll be flying the default 737". What do you know about any possible "default 737" that makes you reject it already, without the simulator even being on the market yet? As far as I understand Flight will be a new sim, not an extension/continuation of the "old" MSFS series. Also as far as I understand, nobody outside of the relevant department of Microsoft knows what the default planes will be like. Then why are all those statements being made and opinions being given?Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
  10. Thanks guys, all of you! You put me well on my way!Jaap Verduijn.
  11. Hi Woodhick! No sweat, matey! Indeed you're perfectly right about FSGenesis: I redownloaded their mesh I originally bought in 2007! They're great, those guys: they keep perfect track of what you bought, and even after years (like in my case) you can download the stuff again! I'll go have a look at the landclass stuff you recommend. Thanks!Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
  12. Greetings all!I've been out of the FS loop for quite some time, only recently returning (more or less). All my old installs and downloads have gone, so I'n collecting and buying new stuff. What would presently be some good landclass for FSX, definitely for Europe and possibly also for North Africa or, preferably, the world? I seem to remember that I had some landclass by Burkhart or Burkman or some name like that. But that's a long time ago...Well now, I hope that most of my old friends and old enemies here are still alive. I am aware that my friend Drac died, but I sure hope the rest of the lot are still kicking!Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
  13. I considered Clay Dopke ("Drac") a friend. I will miss him. Probably no SAM's on your final flight, Drac - but just in case: throttle all the way back, bank the BUFF a full 90 degrees and let her drop. Take care to recover though before you hit the ground! Oh, sorry... I'm trying to teach the man who taught me (a last "wide and wicked grin")!Jaap Verduijn.
