  1. Are you guys talking about a monitor? or a television? I recently opted to go with a 32" Samsung LCD 1080p television cuz it was 600 bucks vs a 30" monitor that was 1400 bucks. It has the dynamic contrast built into the tv settings and it took me a bit to find a happy medium, but right now I've found that not using enb mod worked better. I get dark darks at night but I was able to adjust the tv's settings to find a happy medium where it looks the most realistic. I like it cuz it doesnt take any cpu/gpu cycles and it works good during the day and night without changing any settings. Using dynamic contrast with Movie settings gave the best results with perhaps a little tweak to the brightness for fine tuning. I also wanted to surf the webs without the whites blinding me.
  2. Thank you *******, awesome find. With the STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD, that is the memory of the graphics card? I assume the majority are 1gig cards. Would that number be differnt if you had a 2gig card? Oooooor if someone was using 2 gtx285's in SLI? EVGA Precision tells me each card is currently using 475mb each. I know I'm personally reaching the limits of an oc'd q9650 but I'd be willing to test some other numbers if it will further the cause. :(
  3. I've been watching this topic with others and just wanted to share my results. Before I'd been using NickN's guide pretty much to a 'T' with decent results. I'd get the odd loss of textures from time to time, usually on a long PMDG MD-11 flight, as well as some random sound popping. I was running mostly medium settings and using Nhancer with 8xs.I recently updated vid drivers from trusty 182.50 to the latest 197.13 for the game bfbc2 and those settings didn't play nice with my old FSX settings so here I am. First I just changed my BufferPool from 20000000 to BP=0 and wow, immediate difference. Had some pretty bad stuttering but strangely the flight seems smoother. Well after tweaking and reading and tweaking I decided to delete the fsx.cfg and start from scratch but I wanted to test Ulf B's settings on pg 28 of this thread where he used SLI and holy smokes it works. I uninstalled Nhancer and instead use the Nvidia control panel. I recently upgraded to a 32" HDMI LCD and needed a higher AA and I'm now able to use 16x. Of note is the memory usage which with one card seemed to max at 4-500mb and now with sli it uses 400 on each card.I've played around with FSX scenery settings and even mostly maxed it does pretty good but still drops to 10fps over Anchorage, AK using UTX Alaska. :( To reduce stutters at this level of detail I played with the settings and found a happy medium with:Bufferpools=0texture max load 1024texture bandwidth multi=60 (80+ =texture corruption)upperframelimit=25 (higher =more stuttering)FFTF=0.20 (was using .15 but .20 'feels' better)Nvidia control panel:16xansio16xaamultisamplingextensionlimit offprerendered frames 2max performancesli perf mode Nvidia recommended (its on globally)texture filtering clamptexture quality high qualitythreaded optimization ontriple buffering onforce vsyncq9650 at 3.9*evga 790i Ultra*2x2 ddr3 2000*gtx285 x2*velociraptor x2 one dedicated to FSX*FSX*GEX*UTX/Alaska*REX*UT2 (@90-30)*Trackir4With the above settings 'lighter' planes such as the carando's are definatly do-able. Currently, the PMDG MD-11 will cause corruption after about 30min. The fps will be maxed at 25 but going from fullscreen to windowed will crash the vid driver. Prior to that it seems fine.In a month or two I'm going to be doing a total upgrade, and right now I'm planning on keeping the 2 gtx285's so it'll be interesting to compare how an i7 with ssd's perform with SLI.Hope this helps in some way and if anyone has any other modifications to try let me know. :(
  4. I was having this problem with MD-11. The problem is with the latest Nvidia drivers. Install version 182.50 and the problem will go away.
  5. So I found out my problem... I had switched to the latest 185/6.. series drivers from nvidia.... big mistake. I reinstalled driver version 182.50 and all problems have disappeared. YAYHope this helps some of yaWindows 7 RC 7100EVGA 790i ultraq9650ddr3 1800 evga gtx285velociraptor hdetc
  6. So here's what I've found. I can't alt/enter anymore... wierd because I used to be able to. If I play around with the alt/tab/task manager enough I can eventually get back into full screen mode. I still get disappearing textures occasionally. I've found that if I exit FSX and restart it, 99% of the time it reloads ok. Lastly, I occasionally get CTD in the middle of long flights when in 8x time and switching views :D but sometimes even in normal speed.
  7. Well not sure why, but without changing anything I was able to fly the training flight without disappearing texture problems... And stranger still, I had REX running this time too.... Sorry Mr. PMDG for my rant, I was (i hope understandably) very frustrated and when I saw other ppl having the same issues... which I'd never had before, so I jumped to conclusions. If I have this same problem crop up again I'll check back. Otherwise, happy flying :(
  8. Add me to the list of users with the disappearing plane textures. For me it didn't do this right away. I flew with the MD11 a couple of times and all seemed fine. Tried to do the SWR801: London Heathrow - Z
