Rain shader grayed out
My General Shader and Rain Shader are un-checkable. I was previously running the old 3.2.2 fixes. I've made innumerable changes to FSX over the years so I may have changed a texture file or something somewhere somehow. I attempted to fix by uninstalling DX10 Controller, replacing the stock shader, and reinstalling to no avail. Not sure what to try next. Any help is appreciated.

DX10 Fixer released!
I have Aerosoft PANC Anchorage and PAFA Fairbanks. In my brief experiment if you check the Enable DX10 in the Aerosoft airport tool, there won't be any problems. I had it set on DX9 first and there were some white vehicles at night but after switching it to DX10 in the tool, all looks as it should.

Big Plasma as main monitor
Bread Hammer replied to richy44's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI don't know how much of a difference going to a 42" will make but it isn't likely to be very dramatic. The problem is due to spreading the same number of pixels over a larger screen. A 1080p resolution in a 24" monitor means the pixels (dots) are small and very close together. The same 1080p in a 42" screen mean the same number of pixels that fill in the screen are larger and further apart. A higher antialiasing can help but I have never got my 32" TV to be as sharp as my old 24" monitor. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to put up with for the larger screen immersion.

Big Plasma as main monitor
Bread Hammer replied to richy44's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcIn my experience I've had the best luck with DVI to HDMI for your TV. You should research how well that card can handle three monitors before making the plunge as that would be a combined 5760x1080 resolution. Plus you mention keeping the 24" for the gauges You could get a newer more powerful card for the 3 TV's and keep that vid card for the 24" monitor. FYI, newer cards come with HDMI ports. Glad you're enjoying the new view, really changes things doesn't it!

Big Plasma as main monitor
Bread Hammer replied to richy44's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThe size of the monitor doesn't matter, it's the resolution. 1920x1080 won't stress your card very much. With bigger monitors you'll need a higher AA and to sit a bit further back. Although not a big of a deal as it was originally, plasma's are more susceptible to "burn in" if the same image is left on-screen for too long.

AddonConverter X Not working...?
I have Aerosoft PANC and PAFA and would get black textures and taxiways at night in DX10. With the most recent shader release all the textures now show up except the taxi lines. Also, Aerosoft airports setup has a DX10 "day only" option which I left unchecked. I'll test it one of these days... All in all very happy with these DX10 fixes! Keep em coming!!

Solution to enb series causing black screen
I have such a love-hate relationship with ENB. Some of the ones I've downloaded from the REX or ORBX websites don't work at all and crash right away. Some versions will work fine with light addon planes and I can minimize from fullscreen back and forth all day. The same version will work with heavy addons like PMDG but will crash randomly and don't even try to minimize... I can get rather frustrated with it from time to time and just remove it. I like it best for darker nights. :)

Pix-elation on a 32"
Bread Hammer replied to shamrockflyer's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcthere's your problem. a 720p 32" tv will have pixelation. No way around it. No fix for it. If you want to use a TV as a monitor and have it look good the only solution I'm afraid is a 1080p (1920x1080).

32" TV 1080P vs 720P any benefit?
Bread Hammer replied to drumsonly2002's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI plugged into a 720p tv and it looked horrible. I'm using a 1080p 32" now and it looks much, much better. (in my opinion of course :)

SLI discussion - High Resolution + High AA
Bread Hammer replied to a post in a topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHAHA yes he does. But hey if he's happy who are we to say otherwise. Most addon's work ok with DX10 but my home base with Aerosofts Anchorage X has only day textures with DX10. When I was testing DX10 with SLI I don't recall much of a difference in fps there either. I do see a jump in fps with higher settings tho.

SLI discussion - High Resolution + High AA
Bread Hammer replied to a post in a topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcSome quick and dirty tests comparing different AA levels with a 980x at 4.4 comparing one gtx480 vs sli, bp=0 with frames locked at 30 internally, 1920x1080 Terrain: ORBX PNW, Clouds REX at 2046 Aerosoft Beaver at Darrington with heavy clouds/rain, 8xs, 2sgss single card: 30fps, smooth SLI: 30fps, smooth Aerosoft Beaver at Darrington with heavy clouds/rain, 16xs, 4sgss single card: 15fps, stuttery SLI: 17fps, slight stuttery PMDG 737, KSEA moderate clouds 8xs, 2sgss single: 18fps, slight stutter SLI: 20fps, slightly less stutter (seemed fairly smooth but its subjective) My brief tests tonight comfirm my previous tests. SLI offers very little benefit with higher AA settings. I would like to note that I too observed Dazz's observation that outside views yielding significant improvement and only cockpit views show reduced fps. It will be interesting to see what, if any, benefit SLI brings to super high resolutions. I've not had a higher res monitor personally but have seem numerous posts where people say you don't need as high AA with the mega high resolutions. I've tested Alain's DX10 AA settings and get favorable results but the addons without support and the flashing runways it gets old and I always default back to DX9.

Do you run FSX in fullscreen mode?
Full screen. I had issues with alt tab and the windows key to minimize but found that alt-enter works without any problems... as long as I'm not running enbseries :Hypnotized:
