  1. +1 I think part of Win7 success was a long beta.
  2. Real time reflections in the cockpit would be a cool touch. :(
  3. This would be a great poll about a week after it is released :(
  4. What resolution monitor are you using Alain? A high res monitor will help with lower AA. DX10 on my old 22" 1650x1050 was way worse compared to 1920x1080.
  5. Just for fun I tried out DX10 again. Still no AA. :( Suprisingly it didn't look too bad at 1980x1080 in the GA planes, but when I loaded up PMDG MD11, the glass cockpit was bad. The GA planes were doable with stock AA in my opinon. Next I turned it all the settings up. I think it was running better with water maxed than one notch back. Missed teh FS Water Config tho. And then there was the flashing runway intersections and wierd fences. But with all scenery sliders maxed, cars at 40, clouds radius maxed, bloom, and ground shadows checked I was able to get between 10-15 fps over big citis/airports with UT2 @ 100, which is obviously slow but was suprisingly fairly smooth. In light to moderate areas with those settings the fps was 60-100 but stayed smooth. Didn't have to mess with frame limiters etc. Thats about when I noticed vsync didn't seem to be working and I got tired of messing with it again so reverted back to the old .cfg :(
  6. Does anyone know of any Tweaks that will make T run better?
  7. The water in a computer cooling loop will only get to be 3-4c degrees difference between all the parts so order isn't critical. Still, I'd put the cpu first. :)BTW, I noticed in the spec's for the Thermaltake 760is doesn't list the 2600k as a supported socket. Are you sure this kit will work for you? And, the cpu block and radiator are different metals so definitely use antifreeze to prevent galvanic corrosion. Also, if it really only comes with a 120mm rad, that probably isn't enough to cool your cpu and vid cards. If you can afford it you should get your own parts.
  8. Ahh, oops. ment the 570 anyways. The 560Ti is not bad tho. I suffer from "MOAR POWER!!" disease so its all relative. :Just Kidding:
  9. When your building your first computer it will cost a lot more because you have to buy everything. In a couple-ish years, upgrading just the mobo/ram/vid card will be tons cheaper than buying everything again.1) Either would be fine with your current parts list. If you want to future proof to say a vid card upgrade to a gtx570 or 580 then the 850 is the better choice.2) What resolution monitor are you going to use? Personally I'd upgrade that to the gtx470 to keep up with the oc'd 2500K.3) I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
  10. AHHHH the "choose more than one" was my original idea as I was reading the posts in the Flight Forum. I realised I was repeating the same with slight variences so I consolodated but forgot to change that part. oops Still, I think it will be interesting what people would choose if they had to choose only one of those.
  11. We all want certain improvements in MS Flight like improved performance or better terrain but I was curious if you had to choose one of these, what would it be? :(
  12. BIOS would most likely not pick it up. I'm just giving a guess/idea for you to try. :DAnd thats why I like home builds.
  13. On your current rig, you could try and reinstall your cpu heatsink. Is it a pre-built computer or could you use the case, etc. in a new build?
  14. I would agree that a couple of fps doesn't sound like much but 20fps and smooth vs 15 fps and stutters is a big difference.
  15. You should up your cpu voltage a tad. Every cpu is going to have slightly different potential so don't push it too far, 1.35-1.37 volts should be safe. There is generally going to be a point of diminishing return, where as the next step up will require a lot more voltage. You should record your highest cpu temp when running occt for 1 hour without getting any errors. 70c max cpu temp or under would be a good, safe overclock.
  16. I don't have one, but I've heard that ATI cards don't play well with FSX clouds.
  17. It depends on your budget, of course. A mid-tower will work as long as it has good air flow. A full tower is nice for the room, but still needs good airflow. It's really up to you. Do some research, see what option seperate the different cases. Read reviews on newegg.I pulled these from neweggs "featured items" page for some examples for you.http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811129064http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119225http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811112249http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119233I'm using a Coolermaster Cosmos 1000. Its a nice full tower with cool features. It is very quiet which is why I bought it and I think it looks sexy. It does not have the best airflow tho. Its air flow is adequate and it is quiet, until you put an overclocked 980x and two gtx480's in it. Then it was way too loud for my tastes! So I went with a water cooling solution for the quiteness > temps. But that required modding the case to suit my water cooling setup... I can't decide if my hobby is flight sims or building/modding computers.
  18. Sure, my reply was limited because you didn't specify what parts you would need. For example, do you need a monitor? operating system? can you use your old case? power supply etc.So anyways, here's a few options based around an i7 build: (I like newegg but shop around)MOTHERBOARD:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128423 $199http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131641 $219CPU:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115211 $294Not to many i7 choices from newegg when I looked todayRAM:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226121 $179You'll find a lot of debate on these forums on the benefit of faster ram. This is my recommendation. :) Great speed at low price point.VIDEO CARD: (definitely stick with Nvidia for FSX)http://www.newegg.co...0-549-_-Product $269POWER SUPPLY:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139006 $109I am going by the reviews for this psu. Whatever you do, don't skimp on the PSU.Thats about 1k for those. A case, harddrive(s), operating system, and aftermarket heatsink for the cpu were not included. $100ish for win7 home, $100ish for case, $80ish for cpu heatsink.Good luck with your build!
  19. In my opinion you should sell what you have and put it towards a new i7 based system. Its a pretty big leap from the specs you have now. -_-
  20. I believe Ultimate Terrain USA should be installed first, then updated. Then the order of the rest doesn't matter too much as far as I can tell.
  21. I don't know anything about modern AMD chips, but I noticed your ram timings are 5 5 5 15 and 2T.I've found 1T to be noticably faster but not all ram can run at 1T. Worth trying at least.
