I use it and love it.
What is different to it over Navigraph?

I am probably going to turn into the Luke Pabari of the V2 dev cycle unless I watch it!
If thats the case you might get to Beta test it
-
About a week before the release RSR posted a topic with the final price, and the day they expected to release it if no other problems came up. This was not long after the NDA was released on the Beta testers if my memory is correct.

Great Video! Loving the soundset

About two weeks ago in an E-190 (Sorry PMDG).
I was on approach to Runway 27 at YMML (Melbourne). I was following the STAR, and thought I was in a good position, however the result of not been particularly current on the plane, having never flown that STAR before and been my own ATC I turned onto final at about 210kts, and above profile. Continued on but could not slow down and go down. Decided to bin it when it was obvious my touchdown point was beyond the runway end. I would have still been at about 1000 agl by the threshold I think. As it was approaching 1AM, I quickly repositioned for a VOR 34 approach and brought her down beautifully. added barely 10 minutes to the flight.

I also get better FPS using windowed as opposed to full-screen as well (for some odd reason).Interesting. My fps srop by nearly half when in windowed mode. I use ALT ENTER to go windowed and then do what ever I need to do outside FSX then ALT ENTER again to return full screen when I'm done.
If I do happen to accidently leave FSX while in fullscreen I have to go to task manager and select "switch to" on FSX to not have a black screen. I do not run ENB or similar.
-
Bought this in the last hour or so. But have yet to be able to fly it.
When I go to select aircraft screen I cant load the plane. It will come back up on the free flight screen, but then in quick succession I get 106 identical errors of "Creation Failed, Check sound" (Not exactly that but I cant recall the exact wording and already shut down my FS pc)
After these all flash up the sim will then CTD.
Anyone else experienced this yet and know what the fix is? If no one does I will register for support on the Milviz forum.

It's a shame that this thread was not clear in the original post about the particular store in question.
It is Flightsim Pilot Shop which the OP is talking about. NOT the FlightSim Store, which does not charge to redownload purchases.
The original post should be edited to avoid this confusion as it is causing bad PR for FSS

WOW! Your username!

This man is sounding more desperate every day. Seems he cannot deal with his product having competition. I am no Orbx ######, I made the decision to buy FTX global because it looked good, which in 9/10 areas it does. Yes there is the issue of some areas been green that shouldn't, but I would rather that than norway been a desert for example. I have not seen one screenshot of GEX in all these years that has made me go "wow, I want to buy that"

I'm assuming this flies a-lot nicer than the CS 732?
This hobby is getting sooo expensive :S

OpenLC will be custom landclass packages for the whole world split up into 7 regions. Release of these regions should start latter this year and go into 2014. They include custom enhanced landclass to work along with FTX Global, which just replaces the default textures.
-
So its either FTX Global or GEX, right? You cannot use both at the same time as they are basically the same thing? Sorry for noob question.
Thanks,
Ivo
Yes, you are correct.
FScamp was quicker!

What are the basic central FSX files (besides textures and annotations) that Global edits or replaces?
You can back these up onto an external drive if you have one.
This product has made FSX feel like nearly a new sim. It's great.
USA looks good, Europe looks good, and the border of FTX England and Global Wales blends reasonably well. Slight colour difference and there were clear differences between the FTX landclass and default.
China Looks 100 times better, and Japan looked much more believable than default.
I thought I would go somewhere remote, so loaded up in iceland and at this moment was completely blown away and felt my $100 were well spent. It was amazing. the colours, autogen, everything made it look and feel like iceland. based only off seeing it in images and videos.
-
Ok, downloaded and installed. I thought I would first give it a spin at friday harbour in the trike just to get a good idea of the magnitude of difference over default.
And WOW. It looks great. the colours are so deep and rich, the autogen looks fantastic. The road textures appear to have been replaced as i'm getting actual roads with lines and not just the grey strips.
Its been less than 5 minutes but I am hooked, and my simming enjoyment outside my current full FTX regions will increase significantly. If you are still on the fence about FTX Global then I say go for it. It will only get better once the OpenLC and other add on packs are released.
Just changed it to night and i'm even more impressed. The lighting looks fantastic, and The ground and autogen are dark enough that you can only really make out shapes unless you are in the middle of town with lot's of lights. The worst thing about this is it makes the night colour of the water and sky way too bright, So I think we need some replacement textures for these so the overall picture blends better. But, halfway there to dark nights!
The best thing is knowing I never have to look at ugly default fsx again!
-
hmm Shame on the fps, I wouldn't expect it to change from changing textures. The night lighting I expect to give a small hit, but not half. I struggle enough with fps as is, and I just purchased. WORRIED.
-
These shot's are a great example of how it is just textures to dress up the landscape. It's basically just putting make up on default. When the OpenLC is released it will really change the look of the terrain and will be much more like giving it plastic surgery.

I don't think we are as far away as some in this thread are implying. I remember on the NGX that wide bete lasted a while. However I think that PMDG are doing it differently this time by not releasing the product to the wide beta team until they have a release candidate.
I think we will get a post from Robert saying they have got a release candidate, have released it to the beta team, and all going well release will be in a week.

Why was it going so fast for the section of track?
-
Use the Long Turn and Short turn panel states.
Normally at the start of the day, engineers will go in and power up the aircraft, the crew will then come along for the first flight of the day with the aircraft in a long turn state.
If you are starting the flight over a turn-around, use the short turn where all the initial set up has been completed.
-
Regarding the 250 <10,000 rule, It is also not universally applied, for example have a look at Dubai charts which clearly state 280 <10,000.
-
I thought the justflight one was the CLS one? Unless there is another I am unaware of.
-
That doesn't sound good. I spent 6 hours in that terminal in april last year and it's lovely.

You wont find what you're looking for freeware. POSKY is the best you got, but as you say it doesn't meet your needs.
The PMDG will be the best, most functional, visually pleasing, and performance optimised. But its also likely going to be the most expensive. There is a really old 777 from Wilco, but I haven't heard good things about it.

Nice Video. Was that tyre squeal I heard after touchdown? Is it common to hear this in big jets? I never have before.
