3. ahhhh im stuck on the registering as a new customer page......damn you chinese hacks....you good for nothing so and sos
4. guys this is great, it just adds to the drama of the event. I love it. We have waited years for this little baby and I for one am loving every minute of it. Status update: I had added the plane to my cart and im trying to checkout but its just a white screen.......its the happiest ive ever been....staring at a white screen lolMike Kendall
5. Hi Ryan,I remember you mentioned months ago that you would list a recommended system spec prior to release to allow people to prepare for the plane. Is this still the case? If so do you know how far away any recommendation would be? I think my new rig being built as we speak should be close to the best but I wonder if something new and better will come out prior to the release. Ivy bridge CPU I think that's what it's called is due out next year or late this year. Will that change anything I wonder?Mike Kendall
6. Steve you beat me to it. Well I think that's a very good indication that the hardware industry will back the NGX by PMDG 100% with driver software as it's in their best interests and bottom-line to make sure hardware works with the plane. If go flight is doing it for ifly then they will definetly do it for PMDG as will open cockpits, vrinsight, flight deck solutions, etc etc. It's exciting times for fsx as up til now alot of hardcore sim pilots with massive amounts of hardware have not had any incentive to switch to fsx because of no decent NGX. Ian Sissons springs to mind straight away. Heaps of people will change to fsx because of it. Some may even wait til msflight comes out and skip fsx altogether but why wait? Msflight might take years to get the kind of addon software and hardware that now works with fsx. Hopefully most are compatible with both fsx and msflight but I don't think so as msflight will be a build from the ground up and completely different architecture so why wait for something that could take years to be right?Mike Kendall
7. Yeah sorry about the headline...it was meant to be attention grabbing to enable me to get a quick answers just in case i was wrong about what i had just ordered and i did think some people might read into it the wrong way. Please accept my apologies. Mike Kendall
8. 1000 thank yous Ryan, I really cant wait to get it. I just hope having the 4 windows i need open to run 180 degree external views out of the cockpit doesnt kill the fps too much. Im currently running a q6600 at 3.6ghz and at ybbn (orbx) in the default 737 i get 4 - 8 frames so is no point even trying to take off or land.Mike Kendall
9. Just couldnt wait any longer, i was hoping the beta guys wouldve had the chance to talk about performance on their setups by now but it wasnt to be so i bought the following setup in readiness for the NGX. Any comments are appreciated, I included costs as well (this is in Australian dollars):Coolmaster HAF932 ATX Gaming Case 192.83ASUS Deluxe p67 285Intel Core i5-2500K 3.4GHz, Quad-Core, 6MB Smart Cache, Socket LGA1155 Processor 2198GB GSKILL RIPJAWS X DDR3-1600MHZ 8-8-8-24 Low Latency Memory in dual channel configuration 99ASUS GTX580 1536mb 532X-FI TITANIUM SOUND CARD 1062 X 2TB Western Digital Black Caviar 32mb Cache SATA III 6GB/s 342OCZ VERTEX2 240GB SATA II 3.5 SSD 425LG Blu Ray SATA Drive 99Custom Setup Corsair Hydro H70 Closed Loop Liquid Cooling Solution 149Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit 189Antec Quatro 1000W 225Labor 100 Total2962.83Hopefully after overclocking (im hoping for at least 4.8ghz) it should run orbx, pmdg ngx and a few other programs nicely. This computer will be connected to 3 projectors for side and front views of my home cockpit (via a triplehead2go). Let me know what you think.Mike Kendall
10.

Funny but not surprising, I hope this doesn't start a frenzy of the wrong kind of comments but I don't understand why PMDG staff remain adamant that they don't set deadlines and then go and say stuff like beta should start this week or next. Why say anything about it till it's actually reached that point. It's happened on a couple occasions regarding release dates, updates etc and I just think it serves no purpose to say anything about it if those deadlines aren't met. Talk about creating a rod for your own back. I appreciate the information provided etc but I only when its accurateMike kendall
11.

And of course the other problem with them putting up recommened specs is that it could be obsolete or inaccurate tomorrow. I'm one of the guys looking to spend a fair bit of money getting the right setup for when ngx is released. I'm not buying anything until it's released because i want the absolute best I can get. The other consideration is MSFlight. Very little information is available right now but hopefully we will start to get some idea of whether it's going to be more balanced between CPU and gpu power. Right now it seems like i7 2500k is the best but what if MSFlight can use 6 cores effectively? All of the sudden those who chose to save some money are not seeing the full potential of this next edition in flight simulator. It's very hard to future proof technology for more than a year or so and that's why I'm waiting til I know what's available and what's required to make the experience as good as possible.Cheersmike Kendall
12.

I think the key to it is inaccurate information is worse than no information at all. People have placed their expectations and anticipation on internal dates which were inaccurate. Maybe people are finding it frustrating because they thought pmdg's accuracy in the creation of aircraft would also be reflected in their expectation of deadlines and release dates. At the end of the day the staff of pmdg don't owe us anything and do provide what info they can to keep the peace and to tide us over till it's released. They too want to release this baby asap but on their own terms and to their own satisfaction. Pmdg is not famous for meeting deadlines nor are they famous for making bucket loads of money. They are famous for three things....quality, detail and accuracy all of which are qualitative factors and hard to quantify both in time and in cost. If they are taking longer than expected it's only for the benefit of the consumer (you and me). I admit I use to be frustrated but I have grown to understastand that they are not your normal software producer........they do it for something greater than profit and deadlines......they do it for the love of the hobby, for the recognition of their consumers and peers and they do it to uphold their legacy. Greatness is not measured in dollars and cents nor hours or minutes......it's measured by how it changes you and the experience you have. So to all those who are frustrated remember why you are buying a Pmdg plane, not because it was cheap and not because it came out quickly. You will buy it because it's the best and gets you just that little bit closer to feeling like your flying the real thing and escaping reality for a few hours a day.Mike Kendall
13. dazzHow does your system run with fsx maxed and heaps of add ons as you have the system I'm planning on building specifically for the ngx? I assume you are getting some very good results at 4.8ghz. What kinda frame rates you getting in highly dense areas?Mike Kendall
14.

I think wide view requires identical software on each computer to allow multiple views. If you didn't have the same software on each computer then you are going to see differences. Eg. Ftx ybbn on main forward view but default ybbn on left and right view.Mike Kendall
15.

What about those that want to use wideview to get panoramic views? http://www.wideview.it/wideview.htm Maybe im wrong but I thought most if not all fsx software could be placed on multiple computers due to the need to use multiple networked computers to cope with the demand of fsx and add ons particularly for home cockpit builders using up to 10 monitors for external views and intrumentsMike Kendall
16. okay the closer this thing gets to complete the more im freaking out. I have a feeling im going to find out that the more i get to know this bird the less i realise i knew about this bird before its release. The reason that scares me is because its been about 3 years of blood sweat and tears to build my full scale 737-800 cockpit and its getting closer to finished and im worried i may not be able to ever learn what i need to, to fly it properly. The manuals are the obvious key to it but talk about informaiton overload and we are only seeing the candy, not the intricate systems that play behind the scenes. I do in all honesty look forward to the challenge and suspect that learning to fly this baby like the pros is like going for black belt in martial arts. You start basic and work your way to the top. Here's some pics of my plane in action. Hope you like. oh and PMDG.........truly amazing work.....you are true artists. Mike Kendall
17. Hey guys forget a release this year. The NGX page has had the 'coming in 2010' changed to 'coming soon'. Apologies if this was already mentioned in this or another thread.Mike Kendall
18. Shirley you cant be serious......rip Leslie Neilson......Flying High (as it's called in Australia) was and still is a classic with some of the best lines in cinema history. Mike Kendall
19. Hi RyanCan you tell me if there will be an option to create a separate window for the HUD like the eicas pfd and mfd as I would love to place it on my iPad in my home cockpit attached in the correct position in front of me hanging from above.Mike Kendall
20. As a cockpit builder using a projector for front views and LCD 22inch monitors for side views I really struggle to align horizons and get scales correct so I was wondering does the NGX provide more sophisticated window view adjustments Ryan? Or is there a program that would assist with this that doesn't take up fps?RegardsMike kendall
21. I hope it's low fat popcorn as you could have serious health issues if you keep eating it all the way up to release. Mike Kendall
22. I'm pretty sure there is medication for that....lol.You know for such a complicated plane they could probably talk about and show a different part of the plane or its systems everyday leading up to release and still not cover everything. Arrgh I hate waiting in between updates.....I'm not suggesting they rush the release but I'm suggesting they show more of what they have accomplished so far more often. One screen shot a day would be awesome.Mike Kendall
23. There is at least two more updates (IMHO) one for the HUD in action and one for the exterior but possibly another for the fmc. Based on one update every two weeks that's 6 weeks of updates. This will put us at the end of December. It's going to be close real close. Considering that its a ground up build you can't criticize them for being late as they are creating a program to create the plane not just the plane itself. More frequent updates and/or pics leading up to release would be good to prevent this forum becoming stale and irrelevant (beyond what some people already consider it to be)Mike Kendall
24. Just imagine the quality of posts if we are still waiting in 2014! LolMike Kendall
25. I agree this post was necessary to mange peoples expectations. Not all forum goers have purchased from PMDG in the past and therefore dont understand the process towards release. Great post Mr R and I would definetly pin it so that anyone not reading the hundreds of pages of comments in the three or four topics related to the NGX can quickly get updated without the need to asked repeatedly in here.Mike Kendall
