  1. I find I cannot attach a file here. If I click on 'image' I get a url request I have none I try to close.... it won't go away. It was a screenshot of my attempt in command prompt, the old DOS screen. I get file errors yet I installed as per instructions. I have the Microsoft app in c:\checkfile\fciv.exe I have my zip file in C:\Portland-Hillsboro (KHIO).zip I tried this C:|checkfile\fciv.exe -shal c:\Portland-Hillsboro (KHIO).zip system cannot find the path specified. I typed it exactly. MD5 itself has no way to navigate to my zip file to check it. The link you provided was informative but still did not tell me HOW to use MD5. There was a link to hash tab.... which I get a 404 message.... site not found. so I can't add the hash tag to properties. Is it invalid to have - or spaces or ( ) in the filename of my zip? Maybe that is the problem. Bob

  4. uploaded my scenery. hasn't showed up for a couple of weeks now. got the e-mail that they received it and all is well. some options posted in this said if there were a problem to download the md5 utility and run it to see if it matches the number in the e-mail. If not, upload the file again. Well!!................... No instructions on how to use MD5. copy to clipboard doesn't work. No way to use md5 to navigate and open a file. Sent 3 e-mails back now..... no answer. (used the e-mail link in the e-mail I got). Would like to know- 1. anything wrong with my file. 2. How to properly (step by step) use md5.   5. I am rather curious. I read these reports as to the poor quality of this work. No one here stated any details. If you say something is bad or good.... back it up with facts and details. I am not at this point on any side, but I think it is not very good manners to say something is bad without saying WHY it is bad. Yo may have good reasons..... Please state those reasons! Bob
  6. do you know how to change the guid in instant scenery library maker? Doing this procedure you can keep the same guid of the old mdl and apply it to the new mdl. If not IS then this post does not apply. When converting fsx back to fs9 objects or models remember that FS9 will not see DXT5's or dds's textures. only dxt1 and 3.
  7. Thos look great! Use Model converter X to minimize draw cells, and try to put as meny textures onto one sheet as possible; but I think you have probably read that stuff already. Again, great ships! Bob
  8. Sid and I were on a beta team for instant Object Studio and Airport Design Studio. If there is a message to relay I can do so, unless you have a generic e-mail for him. J. Stinstrom and I have known each other for some time. His sailors are neat, and he also has a nice collection of vintage cars. I can do the same as above until permission is given to relay his e-mail as well. have you tried to get into photoreal scenery? Also- multi object placing (many objects in one mdl. such as - say...... 6 houses you made all in one mdl..... when you place them with ADE or Instant Scenery they are all together as one unit. When placed they all move or rotate as one.... and placed exactly where the photoreal shows them to be. Result- computer has to look for one item not 6. Bob
  9. sidh- Are you using FSX? If so this is going to be easy. You added me as friend- thanx. OK- I'm a retired school teacher. it took me months to figure out how to do this, reading others' help files. I wis people knew ow to teach.... they don't. After I learned I saw how easy this is. Step by step instructions... I did this with two other guys and they learned in minutes!!! Here goes- (btw find me on skype and I can make this easier yet. - Open Skype- add contact- type in jyarddog. If that doesn't do it- pm me here. bob ) 1. my FSX active scenery is open and running. 2. open SBX 3.get sat image 4. background shows up in SBX 5. add map from background 6. do not compile map yet. minimize SBX window 7. from work folder take bmp to paint program and do a blend mask 8. save this blend mask as same file name but with _B.tif 9. Back in SBX select all maps - compile 10. I get photo01.bgl rename as I wish. (I usually call it photo_sceneryariportname.bgl 11. Place this bgl in scenery, shut down FSX and restart and go see. Often this works. Sometimes it does not. Please help I go back to work folder and check inf file. All looks proper two sources, same file name tif is correct with _B.tif. This is of course called photo.inf
  10. Duckbilled- You have the tools I have. Scott is right- SbuilderX is very good. i would like to offer help if you wish to take me up on it. I've been a designer for many years. I've made some good stuff and I've made some real stinkers! hahaha! Point is- we're all having fun in this hobby. At Avsim and Flightsim.com you can see some of my older stuff and newer stuff. author name- Robert Lacy I use FSDS 3.5.1 for FSX. and FSDS 3 for FS9. I usually dabble in FSX these days. I can make some huts etc for you if you wish. No charge. I do this for fun, not money. BTW- I was on the beta team for Instant Object Studio. In SbuilderX I can show you in minutes.... how to make your own photo-real bgl. The trouble on line here is most people have good hearts to help but they do not know how to teach. I am a retired school teacher. I tried for months trying to understand the help I was given. I finally figured all this out. I then wrote my procedure down in SbuilderX forum. I got a reply from Tirado (I believe) that my procedure was absolutely perfect. I wrote a step by step procedure.... easy to follow. Usually what you get is some highly technical discussion using terms you never heard of and are never defined. These are greeat giants who want to help but can't teach. They are the brain surgeon trynig to teach me.... the regular guy how to do bran surgery! <G> Oh well. after I learned I taught two other guys how to do this in a matter of minutes.   11. FScamp - Invisible object........... When you chose your textures - did you click on an option called N ? This tells FSX to look for the night texture.If you did, and did not create the _LM for it, in FSX you will see nothing! In FS9 FS9 would just ingore this. In FSX FSX says, "Hey! where's the LM for this texutre? Can't find it! Well I give up and I ain't gonna display nuttin! So there!" And you end up seeing nothing.You have to manually make your own _LMs.The other Problem - send me the fsc file and let me look at it. I use FSDS 3.5.1 My addres is jyarddog@potc.netThis is what you want to do...... Bring up your project in FSDS, Now- go to file and choose 'package project' , navigate to a temp folder or just to desktop if you wish. Hit ok. Now go to where you navigated to in the last step hilite all (the fsc file and the texture files, right click and zip them up. Send the whole thing to me by e-mail. I'll see what I can do.Remember that when comiling you will always get the message crash tree, no granularity specified, yadda yadda yadda. That 's normal. Hope to hear from you. Other try- compile as a mdl does that work? For bgl are you preferences set right?
  12. You want this object to be totally invisible? Can you find it with ADE (if it a library object- it might show up)? Do you have Instant scenery 2? it now has exclude box capability. Can you find the library this object is in? Use ModelconverterX to copy all mdl in the library, delete that mdl in the library with library maker, same name. Same library will be there still but with out that model. Object is gone.Best most likely is to use ADE and see if a small, yellow box shows up (library object), right click on it and hit delete, save airport, shut down FSX and recompile airport. restart. But then sometimes some library objects don't show up even in ADE. odd!
  13. Mine looks like that also. but I have the same problem. I also see a zip file of a huge sdk. Is this my old one?   14. Meshman is right, but I might suggest in your sliders- global textures? Run that slider all the way to the right. Remember where is was in case you want to run it back. Next Try to make sure your textures are not on ly dxt1,3, or 5 but also mip mapped.That slider all the way to the right tells FS( or FSX to use the mipmaps. If the slider is not all the way to the right FS9 or FSX will try to render the most detailed example of the texture which tends to drag down frame rates and sometimes the blurries. But usually the blurries can be caused by a texture not in DXT form. Sometimes it's because the texture does not include mipmapping.And sometimes it is caused by not holding your tongue right when you turned off that last taxiway... Right?! hehehehe Bob
  15. I use a new folder name with scenery and texture subs. I might use addon scenery\scenery and texture as a temp for something until I decide where I want to put the item, such as a new library. That causes no problem. Perhaps it is the number of textures it has to find. Mine load a bit slow. I've seen others' whose FSX is much slower to load than mine. The default black- I do realize this means a missing texture; but these are from what I assumed are default libraries. I did a standard install for FSX, letting it "do its thing". Bob
  16. Two point here. 1. I have noticed two or three libraries which look like they are default libs. FSX!, I think, airport objects, and another one. I might have these library names a bit wrong. There are many objects with no textures. Why? Are these extra textures I have to go find?2. Does the load time of FSX get longer and longer as you add more sceneries or is a known issue when someone tries to load old FS9 sceneries and try to make them work? Bob
  17. Alex- Are you using Xbuilder? If so, how might I get the edges of a flatten file to mesh nicely with surrounding terrain without ending up with cliffs here and there? In the set altitude window I see where I might enter heading and slope for whatever point I might type in, but it is very confusing. Is slope degrees? It talks about the number per 1000 meters. I don't know what that number is. If it's degrees then say, 6 degrees for every 1000 meters might be a lot. Or maybe not. Anyway - quite confusing. Bob
