Bah, so how do I activate this thing if the support portal is down? Patience required I think.

I'm trying to activate my NGX after a reinstall but get a message that the activation server couldn't be reached. I tried support.precisionmanuals.com but this seems to be down. Is there a problem with activation server? Thanks Jon (Cadwell)

I will give the older drivers a try. See screenshot which better explains my issues. I am using nVidia Inspector which is configured as per Kostas guide. The a/c looks fine - ground textures look awful.

Hi, I have been running Windows 8 RTM since it was released to IT Pros but I am having serious issues with the blurries on FSX. I have an i5 @ 4Ghz, 4GB RAM, SSD, GTX560Ti but yet I can't get it running as well as I had it on Windows 7. Anyone else experiencing the same? I'm sure somebody somewhere is using Win 8 with FSX. I'm not sure if there is something restricting the loading of textures but they seem to pop into view blurred and then refocus very slowly into a sharper texture. Running the latest drivers from nvidia too. UAC and Smartscreen disabled, FSX at the root of C: Any help would be much appreciated.

For those who are having shimmering panels problems did you set texture_max_load=4096 in the fsx.cfg file? I had it set originally, set it back to 2048, lots of shimmers appeared and now it is great again. I think it maybe mentions to do this tweak in the introduction manual.

Holding the menu button again does not turn off the cdu for me.

I think it is more at the end of flight stage. If I switch everything off, then realise I want to go into my options and shut the cargo door which I forgot to close then the CDU will stay illuminated! Small issue I know but I'm just curious. Edit: beaten, but yes my thoughts exactly.

Yes I know that you cannot access FMC menu or anything but what I want to know is that is there a way to turn it OFF by holding down a key? I'm well aware that it is only a sim feature! Thanks

Hi guys, When in a cold/dark state you can press and hold the menu button to power up the cdu to get the menus for ground connections/fs actions etc. Is there a similar hidden command to turn off the CDU in similar fashion? Thanks

I have had an FMC freeze whilst in a hold at POL VOR near manchester. Once I hit exit hold then nothing happened in the FMC. Also the magenta line for heading select no longer appears on the ND. The simulation is still running but when I hit the menu button on CDU, there is no option for FMC. It has totally disappeared! Any ideas? Thanks Edit: actually the whole ND has frozen and will not update. Edit 2: I have installed the hotfix earlier today.

I'm seriously considering getting the hard copies but they are pretty expensive. The introductory tutorials is plenty of reading for the time being!

I'm guessing the manuals that ship with the NGX are exact copies of the Boeing FCOM and FCTM? The only thing changed is the PMDG logo added to them? If so that is a pretty amazing addition.

I'm not sure if this has been introduced since adding the shader mod or not - just wondered was there a fix for it but changing lodbias in the fxh files. I am not using the updated water constants file so maybe I need it.

Are there any similar tweaks I can use the code below in order to reduce autogen shimmering? I have added modified my terrain.fxh and water20.fhx with considerable improvements to my system running an ATI gfx card. Could I try something else for autogen?Another thing I notice are annoying reflections from buildings at the edge of the water. Also mountain outlines reflect in the water - these don't look pretty with smooth edges - very square and bouncy!ThanksCode I used:MipMapLodBias = (State_MipMapLodBias);

Is there anything I can do to the autogen to make it look better? Is there such a thing as replacement autogen? I run FS Genesis, UTX and REX so maybe I don't even need autogen?

Thanks guys. I have been improving performance with some of the tweaks but still have quite bad shimmering of the autogen trees. When I run REX my fps almost half although I can get a constant 30 in most cases. Maybe it will just take a little more fiddling around.

Thanks - will have a look into that. I would say that tweaking CCC settings would be good to fine tune gameplay but the shimmering issues seem a lot harder to get rid of. Definitely not. I tried adding one a while back and it make things x1000 times worse! Downloaded now. What exactly is it and what does it do?

I guess if I turned the autogen off completely then that would be one way to stop the shimmering!The only way I can get things to look good is to use supersampling AA but the performance then drops to unusable levels.I normally leave the FSX FPS setting to unlimited but have tried the FPS_Limiter tool too. Despite all the tweaks I couldn't really find anything that was perfectly smooth. Sometimes it is fine looking out the front but as soon as I look out the side windows everything seems pretty unsmooth.Will have a play with those fixes again and see what happens.Would there be any tweaks specific to my scenery addons that would help things or does the fsx.cfg settings not matter if running FS Genesis, UTX and REX?Thanks
