Switch off CDU when no power

Featured Replies

Hi guys, When in a cold/dark state you can press and hold the menu button to power up the cdu to get the menus for ground connections/fs actions etc. Is there a similar hidden command to turn off the CDU in similar fashion? Thanks

Jon Caldwell

That's just a way to access the sim options. The cdu would normally be dead. In the real thing holding menu shouldn't do anything since it isn't getting any power.

Confirmed, without power the only options available are the PMDG menu and the FS Menu. Took me a while to understand why i could get into the FMC... The Aux power switch was off! LOL.gif

Yes I know that you cannot access FMC menu or anything but what I want to know is that is there a way to turn it OFF by holding down a key? I'm well aware that it is only a sim feature! Thanks

I have absolutely no idea how to do that because I've never had a reason to find out. When in a C&D cockpit, wouldn't you want to start powering things up?

I think its more usefull when you want to shut the aircraft down after you landed into a c&d cockpit ...I haven't found a way to turn the fmc off after I shut down the aircraft if the fmc was turned on again because I forgot to close the door

I think it is more at the end of flight stage. If I switch everything off, then realise I want to go into my options and shut the cargo door which I forgot to close then the CDU will stay illuminated! Small issue I know but I'm just curious. Edit: beaten, but yes my thoughts exactly.

Jon Caldwell

I think you have to switch the battery back on, then off again. That should then power off the CDU, but it has been a while since I had to do this, so I'm not certain if other conditions need to be met.

Holding the menu button again does not turn off the cdu for me.

Jon Caldwell
