  2. Jeff B. - I'm very interested in N888TY for the 700.Pete
  3. This is a pretty incredible repaint...nice work.
  4. On short final to Kai Tak. Thanks again Rich!
  5. Looks like you need shapes laid over the base pictured above with intense colors (black, blue reflected from the sky, and some of the warm gray from the runway, maybe a reflection of runway markings, a shape or two of a very pale yellow, etc) along with a much brighter white for the reflection or hotspot that Jason explains above. Here's an example of a silver paint job combined with chrome to show the difference between the two (with the Rocky Mountains in the background):
  6. Rich - the trick to painting chrome is to really push the contrast between reflected colors, from very warm or cool darks to pure white and to keep the edges of colors somewhat hard with only a small amount of blending between colors or a value of one particular color. The other trick to is to analyze pictures of chrome and understand the types of shapes made by the reflections in the chrome. Usually there will be very distinctive shapes of color. You may also want to play around with the intensity of the colors. Unless parts of the engine are in a shadow you should paint with some fairly intense colors, just lighten up on the intensity as the object goes into shadow. You may want to check out this artist's site, he has a few great examples of painting reflections in chrome: www.mschuh.com. Click on the gallery section to see the examples. Hope some of this helps. Pete
  7. Fictional repaint of a Sierra Pacific 737-800 NGX. Sierra Pacific operates 737-200 series based out of Tucson (KTUS).
  8. Hello PMDG,I've been following the many posts about the development and release of the NGX. I think your team has done a good job of explaining why the complexity of the NGX and the committment to turning out a quality product has required more than the anticipated time to get the sim on the market. Yesterday I listened to an interview on the radio with the owner of a Cadillac dealership in the metro area where I live. The interview focused on what made the dealership one of the most successful in the country. The owner of the dealership said that one thing his company started doing years ago was asking it's customers what they wanted. Their biggest reply: they wanted repairs done right the first time they brought their vehicle to the dealership. Its obvious PMDG is focusing on what customers want; a sim that is done as close as possible to right the first time. I think where PMDG could have done a little better with the NGX is in it's communications with customers during the development process. I've read numerous posts saying that updates were too infrequent. Maybe PMDG could have hired a PR person to assist with more frequent updates, and head off some of the negativity in the PMDG forum. I think with the popularity of PMDG products, a PR person might be worth it (and in the case of the NGX, I'm sure you could have found someone to do the job in exchange for a copy of the sim :) I look forward to all of PMDG's upcoming releases. Pete D.
  9. Very nice screenshot. I hope PMDG appreciates you canceling your vacation to deliver the dll's.
  10. Climbing out on a charter for the PMDG team to deliver a critical texture file for the 737NGX. Sorry gentlemen, Centurion wouldn't disclose where the flight was headed.
  11. Thanks for the info, I'll reexamine my set up.Pete
  12. I experienced the same performance issues on the ground and in the air as Mongo44 reports.
  13. Hugh,I noticed the same problem with my set up (Logitech joystick). I tried adjusting the throttle using the mouse in the VC and find that I can't get it in the correct position to taxi at an acceptable speed. The Caravan seems to jump a little when the throttle is applied and taxis too fast at idle.Pete
  14. I purchased the Sky Simulations DC-9 and I'm not impressed. If the price were around $20.00 it would match it's quality. Night lighting in the cockpit is too bright, three dimensional modeling of the panel isn't good, angle of the cockpit windows looking from inside out is incorrect (windows are too vertical). Flight model is below average, aircraft rolls on the ground at idle, aircraft rolls uncontrollably when FSX starts, engine sounds are there one time then gone the next when aircraft is shut down and user is cycling through the views, etc.
