  1. The spoilers should be armed.... They retract when you stand the thrust levers up
  2. You will get the two low flaps warning unless the ground prox flap override is selected. Touch and go landings are normally flown with flap 25 or 30 and flap 20 is selected on the runway after touch down
  3. Hi, Some of the time when I use the HUD at night as I look at a runway light or aircraft whose Nav lights are on those lights disappear. In some cases they come on and off. This only happens when the lights are in the are occupied by the green symbology. Does this happen to anyone else or is there a fix maybe something in Nvidia inspector? All the best David
  4. Well firstly my PC although a home build was built for me by a friend and I have had numerous problems. The guys who have it now didn't do the over clocking however they have used the phrase wear more than damage and suspect that the over clocking wasn't done quite right hence my problems. Since I'd really like a PC that runs fault free I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new motherboard and processor so that my machine will match fairly closely your recommended specs for the NGX it's not costing too much since I still have all the other bits. Finally Ryan if you don't mind when I'm setting up I'll send you a PM to ask the exact update state of the NGX I have everything backed up but need to make sure I install in the right order. All the best David
  5. Hi Guys, Some of you may remember I was having problems with my PC. It was crashing out etc and generally fialing to run. Since I know nothing about the workings of a computer I took it into my tech support guys. The bad news is that my processor has been damaged by the overclock I had on it and needs to be replaced. So it looks like I'm getting almost a new machine and a wilting credit card. Thanks again for all your suggestions and help All the best David
  6. Hi Guys, I'm away from my PC at the moment working. When I get back I'll take a look at some of the suggestions you've made and let you know what happens. Since (as I said) I have very little skill in PC tech items I'll get my friend to look at it as well and see if he can find the issue. I'll keep you posted Thanks again David
  7. Guys, Thanks for all your ideas and help. The system is about 18 months old and has been overclocked. It has performed flawlessly apart from a bit of overheating which I cured by changing the case to a bigger one with better cooling. I'm ashamed to admit that when it comes to PC's my knowledge and confidence of rooting around inside them is sadly lacking (real aeroplanes are a different matter!!). I've contacted a friend of mine who knows all things IT he's going to have a look remotely but tells me its probably a hardware issue as you've all suggested. Before I hand it over to him though I could try re-installing my Nvidia drivers as suggested by Jude. Does anyone think its worth trying or should I leave it too the expert??? All the best David PS as well as the BSOD's its also started locking up mid operations completely freezes mouse and everything. Don't know if that helps
  8. Just further to my last post I've just tried to defrag my hard drive which normal takes 2 hours. The current estimate is 14 hrs I'm wondering if my hard drive is on its way out?
  9. Hi, Sorry to gate crash the forum with a non PMDG issue but I figured that there are so many knowledgable types here you might be able to help. My PC keeps bluescreening with the message: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. I'm running windows 7 and haven't updated any of the drivers recently. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. All the best David
  10. Hi All, I'm running windows 7 64 bit on and I7 920 processor which has been overclocked the 3.8ghz. So far my FSX experience has been really good as has all the other things I use the PC for (photo editing mainly). Suddenly I have started having blue screen crashes regardless of whether I'm using FSX or another programme or just surfing the internet. The message on the blue screen is: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. Before anyone asks to my knowledge the drivers haven't changed recently. Can anyone help All the best David
  11. Hi,ON my system every time I perform an RTO due to a V1 Cut the RTO autobrake disarms. Is this meant to happen (possibly power change over causing it).All the bestDavid
  12. Hi, I'm getting generally quite good performance from the NGX (I'm running and I7 930 O/C to 3.8GHZ). How ever as soon as I hit the Go-Around switch on an approach my frame rates drop dramatically. Just wondered what the reason for this is and if it's being looked at by the experts. David
  13. Thanks I'll try that
  14. If I update my Airac Data for the NGX which has expired will it also update my Jetstream FMS??? Also how easy is it to run the update as I don't want to mess anything on my sim up. David
  15. I'll try that. What do you reckon 8s or 8sQ for a GTX 460 1mb??
  16. Hi, For those of you who fancy a challenge try flying a 737-800 with the ETOPS version, HUD and Short Field Package into Dutch Harbor (PADU) just under 1200m long. Remember you need enough fuel to be able to divert to cold bay or back to Anchorage. There is some Dutch Harbor payware scenery and if you have it you can programme the GPS(E) procedure into the FMS and fly it in LNAV and VNAV before breaking off to land visually. Good Luck!!!
  17. Hi, I'm running FSX on and I7 930 overclocked to 3.8GHZ. I have 2 x GTX 460 cards (yes I know SLI does nothing for FSX but I have other games that use it). I also have 12 GB of RAM and a HD screen. I'm getting quite good performance even with the NGX (up to 50 FPS in the cruise with stock scenery, about 20 - 30 FPS around busy add on airports). I'm doing all of this by using the standard NVIDIA control panel and no other tweaks other than the ones done by *******'s FSX.cfg programme. I was wondering are there any other bits of software like NVIDIA inspector that I should use to get the best performance (I sometimes get flickering graphics). all the best David
  18. Okay when I get my PC back from being fixed I shall apply the Hotfix. Thanks for your helpDavid
  19. Is that just an uninstall in the livery manager. I don't need to delete the old aircraft.CRT files????
  20. Hi,Sorry I might be being silly. But do I need to uninstall all the liveries before applying the Hotfix????David
  21. Hi, Shortly after buying the NGX my computer suffered a mishap (unrelated to the NGX) where it's power supply appears to have burnt out. I've taken it in to be repaired and I have been told my I7 930 can be overclocked to 3.4 GHZ quite easily and maybe even 3.8GHZ. Has anyone had this done??? If so what kind of performace gain did you get??? David
  22. I normally don't post but.... I have to say I think the NGX is a very good piece of software. Not only does it do all the things that other PMDG add ons have done it also really "feels" like an airliner. All thats missing is the bland food!!! I am currently getting about 30 - 35 FPS at the default Shannon (system specs at the end of the post) this drops to about 15FPS at some of the more complex airports like Aerosofts Bremen. I have two questions firstly since the NGX runs outside of FSX are there any programmes I should set my antivirus to ignore in addition to FSX? Secondly I am running FSX without using nhancer or nvidia inspector is it worth me trying either of these programmes ( I ask this as there are so many conflicting opinions on other forums its very confusing). System:- I7 930 @2.93 GHZNvidia GTX 460 1mb6 GB RAMCreative sound cardVelociraptor HDWindows 7 64 bit PS I'm not using a registered version of FSUPIC Many thanks David
  23. Many thanks I figured that was the case as believe the NG 737 still retains a common type rating series with the 737-400 series. For interested parties I shall be putting any purchase off until after I have finished my course.David
  24. Hi,I am just about to start a 777 course and have been doing a bit of pre-course study. Does the 737 NG family have the same electronic checlist system that the 777 uses??? Just wondering if I need to invest in a QRH for the NGX.David
