A question about Autostart
Hi, I just downloaded Linda yesterday to use with the A2A 172. Excellent software, but I had a question. I have checked the option to have Linda start when FSX does but I notice that when I shut FSX down Linda doesn't stop. Shouldn't it? Is there something I'm missing? Mark

Tundra tailwheel sinking
Hi, I'm having a problem with the tundra version. I have installed Bernt Stolle's excellent FDE and I'm still trying to land the tundra version without bouncing. On those very frequent occasions when I look like a pogo stick going down the runway after the first touch for some reason the tail will sink into the ground up to the elevator stabilizer. I end up seeing even more of the sky than usual but I don't get any crash sound or automatic resetting of the flight. While taxiing and setting still I've never had this to happen. I know there are some adjustments that can be made in the contact points section but I thought that was only for when the plane is setting still. Has anybody else had this to happen? Any ideas how to fix this? Mark

Loading and the CG
Hi, I haven't had this plane for very long but its absolutly one of my favorites, especially since as soon as I downloaded it I installed Bernt's modified FDE file. If that wasn't available I probably wouldn't have made the purchase. I was wondering about the CG though. In the tundra version I load the plane as follows Pilot seat 225 pounds Right front 200 pounds Middle row 150 pounds a piece Back row 175 pounds a piece baggage area 44 pounds I realize that this is a very full load, however, I don't have any trouble getting the plane off of the ground, but it does seem very tail heavy. With the trim set at neutral the plane almost immediately stalls. In this configuration the only way to stop this is to trim it to about 2/3 nose down trim and then it still wants to climb at 800 to 1000 fpm. When loading the silly little CG gauge in FSX shows really far forward CG. Does the way I'm loading the plane seem wrong or is the trim supposed to be like that in RL? Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

converting Textures
Hi, I downloaded a paint that I really like but it is for the standard wheel version only. I have converted it to the tundra tire version and it all looks great except that the paint was for one of the planes with the window in the lower door and the tundra version doesn't have that option. I now have a great paint job but I have a black square where the above mentioned window is supposed to be. I don't own the standard tire version only the bush version. Is there any way to fix this? Carb Heat?
Hi, this is just a question to satisify my curiosity. Is the carb heat part of the model? I was recently flying in the northwest US in the Carenado 172N and ran into some pretty bad carb icing. As soon as the rpm dropped I pulled the carb heat on and it took about 5 minutes before I started getting rpm back. That got me to wondering if there was a scalar to adjust the carb heat. I've messed around in the cfg file before and even did some adjusting in the air file (mainly because Carenado don't know didly about how a real plane flies, I can't wait for the A2A and Realair 172s to come out), but I've never seen any mention of the carb heat. Where is this modeled? Just curious. Mark

KTAS vs. KIAS
Hi, I've got a question and I thought this would be the place to ask it. Heres the setup. I've been flying the Carenado 172N using Airhauler. Airhauler uses the reference airspeeds in the aircraft.cfg file to trip an overspeed warning. While flying the 172 at an indicated airspeed of 110 with a 25kt tailwind I get the overspeed warning even though I'm not putting the airframe under stress above 110kts. In this situation I can be showing 110 indicated and 135 or so ground speed and get the warning. Heres the question. Is there anyway to list the reference airspeeds in the cfg file as indicated rather than true. It seems like the true is read off of ground speed which isn't correct at all. True airspeed takes indicated airspeed and adjusts it for tempature, it has nothing to do with ground speed. If this question would be better placed somewhere else please bump it over there. Thanks Mark

high_alpha_on_pitch?
Hi, I've got a question about something I've found in the Carenado 210 CFG file that I've never seen before and I can't find anything about it on the web. Below is a extract from the file. [flight_tuning] cruise_lift_scalar =1.00000 pitch_stability =1.00000 roll_stability =1.00000 yaw_stability =1.00000 parasite_drag_scalar =1.00000 induced_drag_scalar =1.00000 elevator_effectiveness =1.00000 aileron_effectiveness =1.00000 rudder_effectiveness =1.00000 elevator_trim_effectiveness =0.90000 //was1.40000 aileron_trim_effectiveness =1.00000 rudder_trim_effectiveness =1.00000 torque_on_roll =1.50000 p_factor_on_yaw =1.00000 hi_alpha_on_roll =1.00000 hi_alpha_on_yaw =1.00000 hi_alpha_on_pitch =2.0 gyro_precession_on_yaw =1.00000 gyro_precession_on_pitch =1.0 gyro_precession_on_roll =1.00000 My question is what is the high_alpha_on_pitch entry for? It isn't listed on this site http://msdn.microsof...y/cc526949.aspx. I was under the impression that the high_alpha entries were how a high AOA would affect the yaw or roll response of the plane. Does this entry affect the ability of the elevator when the Angle of Attack is high? Thanks Mark

C210 - Does a real 210 land like this?
Gregg, I believe it is degrees, I didn't get the term right in my earlier post, it is the "flaps pitch" setting but I'm not sure it may just be increments to + or - 100. I'm still playing around with it if I find a way to adjust it in the cfg file I'll certainly let you know. Mark

MTO?
Hi everyone, I just bought the 337 and I'm really enjoying it even though it does have some bugs, which brings me to my question. I use this plane and the 210 in Air Hauler, when I started a new company and bought both of these planes I noticed a funny thing. Air Hauler is showing that the 210 has more useful load than the 337. So I opened up the CFG file for the 337 and its only showing 3450 for max gross where the 210 shows 3800. Thats not right is it? I went online and checked some places, Wikipedia says that the max Takeoff weight for the 337 should be 4400 pounds which sounds far more reasonable. I saved a backup of the cfg file and did a little editing, raising the Max gross up to 4400 and then took a fully loaded flight. There for awhile I thought I was driving a car, the plane didn't break the ground until about 105 kts indicated. Would any RW 337 pilots comment please? What is below came out of my original cfg file [General] atc_type=Skymaster atc_model=C337 editable=0 performance="Maximum Speed\t\n196 kts 225 mph\t363 kmh\n\nCruise Speed\t\n172 kts 197 mph \t318 kmh\n\nEngine\t\n Teledyne Continental IO-520-BA 285 hp\n\nPropeller\t\nTwo-bladed McCauley\n\nMaximum Range\t\n1050 nm 1,208 sm \t1,944 km\n\nService Ceiling\t\n17,858 ft 5,443 m\n\nFuel Capacity\t\n80 U.S. gal 302 L \n\nEmpty Weight\t\n2,181 lb \t 989 kg\n\nMaximum Gross Weight\t\n3,400 lb \t 1,542kg\n\nUseful Load\t\n1,219 lb \t 553 kg\n\nLength\t\n26.66 ft\t 8.12 m\n\nWingspan\t\n33.5 ft\t 10.21 m\n\nHeight\t\n8.25 ft\t 2.51 m\n\nSeating\t\nUp to 4" Category = airplane [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] max_gross_weight = 4630 empty_weight = 2830 As you can see in the general section it shows a max gross weight of 3400 pounds but under the weight and balance section it shows a max gross weight of 4630. Which one is right and which one does the sim use for loading? Thanks Mark

C210 - Does a real 210 land like this?
Hi, Just to put my 2 cents worth in here, I have AirWrench, the paid version, and I noticed that the flap setting in the 210 was originally set at -52.4. That will give the plane alot of nose down force and cause the pilot to have to input alot more back pressure on the yoke. I haven't found out why with that setting the plane tries to stand on its tail when flaps are lowered but I raised that -52.4 to -40 and I have been getting pretty well perfect landings since I changed it (about 10 landings last night and another 5 or 6 tonight). I cross the fence at 85 and touch with the mains at eighty or less and a second later I hear the chirp of the nose gear. I've also noticed that the bucking (no thats not mispelled) isn't quite as bad either which is really strange since I thought that raising that setting would make it worse. Go Figure. I guess it may have something to do with the flaps drag setting which is set at 19.3, I haven't changed it only the setting called "flaps pitch". Mark PS AirWrench is well worth the $20 I spent on it even though there is virtually no documentation for the product.

Baron Turn & Bank
Hi, I just started flying the Baron again after several months of flying turboprops and I've noticed something that I'm not sure about, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has seen it. Whenever I enter a turn in the Twin Baron I apply enough rudder to keep the ball centered but then without me changing the rudder input the ball slowly rolls to the side of the turn. No matter how much rudder I input the ball will center for a second and then slowly uncenter. Has anyone else seen this? I don't believe the real plane would behave this way. I'm wondering if there is some setting in the cfg file that needs tweeking. Thanks Mark

setting v speeds
Hi, I've read the "overview" pdf for the PFD and it says "Vspeeds set to zero will not display". How do you set the vspeeds? Also, I would have sworn that right after purchasing this plane yesterday that I found a airspeed hold bug in the PFD. Was I just dreaming or did I just forget how to set it? Thanks Mark

opening panels with voice commands
Hi everyone, I had a question about voxatc. Can it be used to open the different gauge panels in the FSX VC? If not can somebody recommend a good program for doing this?

unknown aircraft type again
I figured it out. In the aircraft cfg file there were qoutation marks in the title line like this. title=Boeing B-17G "Texas Raiders 533rd BS 381st BG " I removed the qoutation marks like this title=Boeing B-17G Rhapsody in Red 91st BG and it works perfectly. The only thing was that I had a flight saved with that paint and after removing the qoutation marks it corrupted the saved flight file.

unknown aircraft type again
Hi, I'm getting a unknown aircraft type error when starting VOXATC after running the indexer several times. The aircraft in question is the A2A B-17G Accusimed version. The funny thing is that it list the specific repaint in the error, Rhapsody in Red. Does anyone know what could be causing this and if there is a fix? I have tried VOXATC in several of the other A2A planes that I own and it works great it is only in this particular paint that the problem occurs.
