  1. Thanks for the reply Dazz. Well I thought about it and read some more and finally decided on the 570. I tried FSX and Arma II and noticed a very positive increase in image quality and smoothness. With FSX I was able to pretty much put everything to the right and run higher AA and other settings with my PMDG 747 over Orbx KSEA in bad weather I held around 20 to 25 fps and it was very smooth. After that all my other aircraft were just a walk in the park and flying around all my Orbx scenery with these settings is just amazing. In Arma II which is a very demanding game also I noticed I no longer have issues anymore with looking around and waiting for things to load. What suprised me was that I was able to absolutely max that game out and it is freaking awesome.Overall I am very pleased with the 570 and it was worth the upgrade from the 460 I had. I am currently reinstalling windows and everything right now as they had a sale going on harddrives so I ended up buying a new one.
  2. Hi all,Well I am looking to upgrade my video card and really up in the air on what I should get. Would really appreciate advice from those of you that might have some of the newer cards. First of all here are my specs:i7 950 OC'd @ 4.16 gigs of RAMSoundblaster Fatality Edition SoundcardCorssair 650w 12v rail at 52ampsEvga GTX460LG 22in monitor 1680x1050Windows 7 64bitNow I do play alot of other games such as Arma 2, Crysis 2, BFBC2 and many others so FSX is just one of the bunch.I don't plan on upgrading my monitor so this is the resolution I will be running. My budget does afford for anything from the 580 down but I want to make sure I get what will work best with my setup. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
  3. I completely agree with you, til it comes out its anyones guess. Sorry if it sounded like it but I in no way meant any disrespect towards Jim. He personally has helped me in the past as I am a very satisfied customer of HiFi. I just was arguing the point of what has been published as opposed to what I felt like was telling someone they are wrong but then following that with but I can't show you my proof. It just seems like more times than not now in the forum people hop on the negative bandwagon. I was happy to see some of the RealAir post lately as their products warrent the praise, as do HiFi's. With the announcement of Flight as was the case with FSX and FS9 before that, people like to proclaim the end of the world of FS. Anyways again sorry if I came off in a disrespectful way earlier, I'll blame it on Houston rush hour traffic
  4. When have they taken features away? Since I have been simming (FS95) the only thing they have taken away has been some of the aircraft they had previously included. Features on the other hand have always been added too. Better weather, vc, overall graphics. So after reading this article they specificly state that they are not taking away any of the simulation but adding too it. That is unless your just going to tell me I'm wrong and that its nothing that you can point a link to. I don't really mean to be disrespectful but just getting old with the "lets find something negative and start from there" replies and post. We should be happy that they are proceeding with a new sim. Instead it seems like so many are just happy being able to claim how bad things are going to be and that Microsoft is just after money. God forbid they get paid for making a product. I remember this before FSX when people found out there was going to be missions. "Oh my god they made it a stupid arcade game for kids" was all you heard. Now we have addons that add more missions and one of the groups I fly with does monthly missions.
  5. Hmm from what I read in the PC Pilot interview they did make it sound like some new code was on the way. One of the things I liked was the statement that they want Flight to be able to run on current pc's. This is a nice change from the "Here is FS, if you want to have a smooth flight you'll need a pc that is coming out in 2 years from now" Atleast thats what it always felt like to me.I'm looking forward to the next interview after reading this one.
  6. I can personally attest to HIFI's customer support. I had an issue with my installer after my pc crashed. Jim was very helpful in trying to resolve the problem. He always answered each e-mail and provided great customer support. Just e-mail him and give him a chance to resolve the problem for you.
  7. There is one important diffrence that I found between these two that isn't obvious til after purchase.Simflyer's GPS uses your airport database from FSX. So if you have any airport addons that aren't real life airports ex. Andras Field by Aerosoft, then the RealityXP GPS will not show it. This is due to RealityXP's GPS usining real world Garmin database. Either way both products are great.
  8. 1. This is off of a dvd and I used the FSX install option.2. It has never asked me to approve the gauges.3. Yep aircraft powered up (I'm a former ERJ pilot in the real world.)4. FSX is on its own harddrive.5. UAC was turned off prior to install6. Looking through there now.
  9. I installed the ERJ Legacy into FSX and I am having a problem with the panel. This is also happening with my 737 PIC. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? Thanks in advance.Windows 7 64bitAMD 965 OC'd to 3.8Nvidia 2604 gigs of ramI have AA set in Nhancer to 8Q
  10. Well I have an AMD 965 Black Edition overclocked to around 3.8 ghzI hope to upgrade my vid card to a GTX 460 soon.Well it seems that its not a sound flie but and FX file that it is having problems with on touchdown. Going to try and run a couple of defrags.
  11. Thanks guys for the responses. Well I have a Soundblaster sound card and double checked that the sim is using it. I have all my ai sliders at 0 cause I had thought that maybe that was it also. I had thought it might be FS trying to load either the sound file or fx file on touchdown. I went into one of the aircraft cfg files and disabled the [EFFECTS] part and that might have solved the problem. With that aircraft it no longer stutters on landing. So now my question is:1. Anyone know of a way to fix this so I can use the effects?2. Anyone know of a way to disable the effects for all aircraft without having to go into each aircraft config file. Maybe move the actual smoke_fx file or something.
  12. Hi all,I have a fresh install of Windows 7 and FSX. My flights in FSX are nice and smooth with exception of the landing. Right at touchdown the sim freezes just for a split second then goes back to running smooth. Doesn't matter how long or how short of a time I am in the air when I come into land it happens each time right at the touchdown. System Specs:Windows 7 64bitNvidia GTX 260 (Nhancer used only for setting Anisotropic to 16x)6 Gigs of ramFSX.cfg has only had the widescreen option set to TRUE, no other tweaks done. Thanks in advance for any help you all provide. Really pleased with FSX performance but the landings are getting annoying with the momentary stutter.
