December 19, 201015 yr Evening evryone,The question is quite a simple one...I am looking into buying a GPS (GNS530) to integrate into my panels.Which company delivers the goods?Overall, since it's mainly for light GA in FSX, impact on framerate is important. But also realisme in operating the gps...Which can you recommend?Luc Brusselmans

December 20, 201015 yr Author Just a note:Simflyers is a closed airport scenery developerSimflyer is a gauge developerscott s..Sorry Scott, ofcourse you're right.Typo from me but I guess you understand the question.... And to Bert,Thanks for the advice.I saw that realityXP is indeed the way to go.The reason I still was considering the gauges from Simflyer is that it is a 'suite' of gauges for a very reasonable prive.I'll look into it.Luc Brusselmans
December 20, 201015 yr There is one important diffrence that I found between these two that isn't obvious til after purchase.Simflyer's GPS uses your airport database from FSX. So if you have any airport addons that aren't real life airports ex. Andras Field by Aerosoft, then the RealityXP GPS will not show it. This is due to RealityXP's GPS usining real world Garmin database. Either way both products are great.

Either way both products are great. But as with the real unit you can enter the coördinates of those fields, so you can use them as a departure, waypoint or destination in a flight plan. If you want an accurate representation of the Garmin 430 or 530 the Reality XP versions are indeed the only way to go. December 21, 201015 yr The big thing here is that you will get what you pay for.If you want the no-crap Garmin Trainer version of the GNS 430 then go with the Reality-XP.If you want an improved FSX limited GPS then go with the SimFlyer.I own both and use the Reality-XP exclusively because it is an almost exact replica of the GNS 430. Furthermore, to create a flightplan with the RXP Garmins you have to go through a rather tedious character by character procedure - something that you get used to but a pain never-the-less. Of course these quirks are a consequence of the RXP Garmins being based on the Garmin trainer and if you must have something that works pretty much as the real world Garmin then RXP is the way to go. If there was another product that had the same or very similar functionality as the RXP Garmins but with flexibility of being able to use FSX and 3rd party flight plans I would go for that.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." December 21, 201015 yr Author Pffff....Not the easiest of choices when I read the comments here.Fiddling with knobs with the mouse is not my favourite way to pass the timebut I do that anyway when programming the FMC's of the big ones. And realism is the thing I am looking for... so RealityXP seems to me the way to go...but ease of use is also tempting.... :( Maybe, just maybe I can convince the wife to grant me permission to buy both.... anyway, thanks for the infoand I'll go for the realityXP version.Luc BrusselmansBelgium

This is indeed the way the real unit works - but you can also store and recall flightplansin the GNS530 and this can come in quite handy if you have favorite routes you fly. Bert
