  1. Thx for answer. But with my P8P67 mobo, i dont think I have room for two "big" GPUs with own cooler etc. - I have to check that (in that case I guess I can just use my old GTX280). I was thinking more of a very cheap basic GPU. Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  2. Dear Rendi. I need a third monitor, which is why I need a second GPU. I have heard of others using a high-end GPU together with a low-cost GPU for showing 2D panels etc, so I really do not hope I need to buy 2xGTX580  Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  3. Hi all. I have an ASUS P8P67-M motherboard and are probably about to buy a GTX580 GPU. Now I also need another GPU for 2D panels. Anyone have a setup like this and can recommend what 2nd GPU to buy that in your experience works flawless? Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  4. Hi all. Im having a problem with the RWY lights only lighting up in a certian distance from the aircraft. This means that when I do an approach the lights starts to come on when I am relatively close to the runway and then turns on one by one in front. Anyone have a solution to this problem? I haven´t noticed it before now, and I am quite sure its a new problem, but I have not made any changes to the sim for a very long time. Thank you in advance for your help. Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  5. Hi Guys. Sorry for the late answer. This still puzzles me. I do set the MCP to MDA + 50 ft, and when well established on VNAV PTH after passing FAF, I try to set the MCP to MAA of 5000". Just wanted to know if I did something wrong, but it seems as the procedures are correct. If anyone had succes with this procedure, then please let me know - in that case I will know that it is not a bug in the NGX. Thanks for help! Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  6. Hi all. I was trying to fly an RNAV approach into EDDK 32R. The FCTM says that you should put the MDA +50 in the MCP, and when established on VNAV PTH in the final sector (after passing FAF) and 300" below the missed approach altitude ((MAA) 5000" for EDDK 32R)), you can set the MAA in the MCP window. At FAF 32R you start the descend at 3000", so I should be able to set the MAA once descending on VNAV PTH right after the FAF. But this did not happend. When I set the MAA in the MCP the AP just went into ALT ACQ. I cant figure out what I am during wrong here...Any suggestions? Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  7. Hi Guys - thanks for your replys.I just helped my friend building his new rig, and I saw the cooler he bought, which is half the price of the H100 and should be able to cool everything on the market today, so I think I will try to buy a similar cooler (mine stock cooler are just phafetic compared to his), and as he by accident bought double the RAM needed, I helped him get rid of half, so I will try some overclocking, and at a later time borrow his GTX580 to see how much more performance that will give me.Im still thinking that the 560TI would be a better buy as some "wise" people state that the 580 will only give me in the vincinity of 5% more performance - which is not alot when comparing the prices!I will probable return with some questions about overclocking, as I am extremely new to this (FS9 pilot so far, and never had the need for all that power).Again, thx for your inputs!!!Bjarne Sorensen
  8. Hi guys.I am thinking of making some kind of upgrade to my FSX rig, but need some advise. My specs:ASUS P8P67-MI7 2600K (running 103x39 - 41 resulting in max performance just below 4.2 ghz)Nvidia GTX280 1GB GPU4gb (2x2) Hynix RAM @ 1333HDD 750GN SATA 3G @7200 RPMI am using the ASUS AI software to overclock, but have started to investigate on how to OC CPU, as other people seems to get way more out of their CPUs than I do. I found out that I need to set the Dram timing, but unfortunately there are not stated on my RAM, so in order to OC, I will need new RAM and also a better cooler is definately needed, when running Prime95 I quickly get temperatures in excess of 85 degrees (then I turn it off to avoid damage to CPU). I thinking of a Corsair H100 watercooling system. But my GPU is very old, and for "nearly" the same price of a Corsair H100 + new 2x4 GB G-skill RAM I can get a GTX560ti GPU, which is said to be 95% as good as a GTX580, so I am thinking if it would be a better upgrade, and then concentrate on the OC later.I have rather good performance in FSX I think. With PMDG B737NGX I get around 16 - 22 in taxi in at Aerosoft EHAM (bad product FPS wise!!), and 25+ FPS in climb with lots of clouds (REX 2.0 + AS2012). At FlyTampa LOWW I get 25 - 30 in taxi. In cruise I have...plenty :-) Slider are all maxed out, except for autogen (normal) and water effect (high x1 - low x2 takes alot of frames). No aviation traffic, and only limited road and water traffic. What is the advise from the gurus in here OC CPU or better GPU ... or maybe something totally different? :-)Looking forward to your inputsBest RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  9. Hi Karim.Well, cant say anything else than buy the product! I also had at least 30% FPS increase from stock, and appx 4 - 6 fps more than if only using bojotes tweaks. But I guess it is different from rig to rig, but alot of people are getting good results with it.....Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  10. Thx for reply. I agree with Kyle that it probably is the change to smoke use that created the problem - you cant have smoke without engines :-) Ok, maybe I can tweak the settings myself, o just use the emergency exit lights .Brgds Bjarne Sorensen
  11. Hi there.Happy newyear :-)Just bought/installed MD11 on FSX. I noticed that the domelight is out when the engines are off. As soon as the engines comes alives, the cockpit lights up fine. Tried to do some searching on the problem, only to find that other have experienced the same, but all thread ends blind. Can anyone either confirm that this is a bug, or can anyone confirm that they do not have this light behavior?Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  12. Hi Ron.It seems that USB display adapters are handled differently in WIN7, as everyone is having the same issues only in WIN7, and not in XP - but the problem seems to be restriced to USB videocards or USB monitors. I think the best way to add more monitors is to do like you and add a second videocard. What kind of card to you use as secondary cards - I guess it does not have to bee a top notch card.Best RegardsBjarne
  13. HI All.Is anyone using an USB display adapter, with FSX and WIN7, for a second or maybe third monitor? I have a kensington but unfortunately it looks as it is not compatible with FSX and WIN/. So if anyone found such an adapter that is confirmed compatible, please give me a hint :-)I need to have a third monitor for FSX.Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  14. Hi RonThank you for your inputs. I tried them all, but unfortunately it did not solve the problem. But im quite sure the problem lies in the video acceleration, as the monitor cannot play videos. Somtimes it can show the video for a few seconds, but then it freeezes. Im quite sure it is a WIN7 problem. I have not tried with the old drivers yet, but I doubt it will have any effect. If anyone found an USB display adapter that works with FSX and WIN7 I would like to know so I can replace my kensington.Best RegardsBjarne SorensenBest RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  15. HI all.I have the same problem as you guys. "upgraded" to WIN7, and on the monitor I have connected to my Kensington USB display adapter connected to, the undocked panels will no longer make updates. But I also noticed that I can not play videofiles on the "usb-monitor" as I have no problems doing in XP. So either it is a WIN7 thing, or a display driver issue. I have another computer with old drivers for my GTX280, and I will try to install it on that to see if that gives any change. But if it is a WIN7 thing, and as XP 32 bit is no longer possible due to constant OOM, how about an XP with 64 bit? Could that be a solution?Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  16. Hi all.I have a OOM problem that I would like to have fixed. I seem that when I fire up the sim with NGX I use appx 85% of my video memory (55 - 60 % with the default BE58). When I undock windows on 2nd monitor and look around etc. the memory builds up, and I get around 99%. My RAM memory are around 50% (4GB on WinXP 32bit system). My though was to change the old "GTX280" with a new 2GB "GTX-somthing smart", but I read somewhere that if I did so, I was really if for a rough ride, as FSX is a 32bit software and cannot handle more than a combined 4 gb memory. I think Ryan from PMDG Support was supposed to write an article about this, but I have not been able to find it.Can anyone help me with this issue?Another thing that I do not understand is that my FPS is almost allways the same - not really good, not really bad (around 15 - 25) But it is hard to either improve it or even trying to get lower FPS. If I use REX HD clouds or 512x512 - no difference. Thunderstorm clouds in multiple layers or no clouds - same, same..This makes me believe that my performance problems is not in my videocard, but more a CPU problem, but I can see that almost no CPU resources are used by FSX, and having a i7-2600K CPU (not overclocked) with an old GTX280 videocard I would think the bottleneck would be the videocard. I do not know much about computerhardware, and just asked my fried to put together a computer that kicked &@($* together with my old GTX280 card....but I really did expect more :-)But LOVE the NGX, only problem is that its not for FS9 Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen/Denmark
  17. Well, my days in heaven is over! Panel freezes again... Today I did a flight from EDDF-EGLL, and just after departure I had small freezes, but only for a second or so. In cruise I have a large freeze, but this time it was the entire screen that froze, but the sim was still running i the background, and I could control the aircraft (tried banking hard, and the "BANK ANGLE" warning came up. I also had undocked the MCP and FMS to another screen, and those I would operate. Suddently it "unfroze" and I got the aircraft under control - continuing towards EGLL. Suddently I got some very strange gaphics, which is produced by missing videomemory. When descending inbound EGLL, the I go another total freeze and I closed the sim. I checked my videomemory, and could see a peak of 3 gb - which is quite alot for a 1gb card :-) Later this evening I tried reproducing the same flight, and this time I constantly checked the videomemory, and could see that when aircraft was loaded on V152 at EDDF, it used 92% of my total videomemory. This time I got as far as to the runway before the freeze came :-( Tried the EDDS-EDDT flight (see first post) again, and also had problems there again.... So, darn it! I think I have to roll the NGX in the hangar until the PMDG guys figure something out...which I sooo much hope they do fast, cause I already LOOOVE the NGX :-) But for now - back to theMD11. Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  18. Leffe - taken from the NGX manual:"There is a common misconception that when loading a complexsimulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load thedefault Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX.This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommendthe practice at all."...I have always loaded complex aircrafts directly from saved flights, and never had any problems - well until now :-)Best RegardsBjarne Sorensen
  19. If anyone can reproduce a freeze, try noticing when the freeze kicks in...is it just before a waypoint, or when the A/P changes speed setting, or it is just out of the blue? But as mentioned, no freezes when running Hotfix2, but I still have problems loading the aircraft, and sometimes I need to load the cessna, and then change....Hope PMDG gets these bugs killed, because it is a truly magnificient piece of software! :-) Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  20. Hi all. Just a quick note on my further testing. I tried uninstalling the NGX and reinstalling, without any hotfixes. I then tried setting up the same situation, whcih gave me the same result - freeze! I then applied, what I think must be hotfix 2, and tried the situation again with good results. I have not had any freeze since then and have even done two entire flights, (one off- and one IVAO online) without anything but pure admiration for this aircraft - love it, love it and love it! Best Regards Bjarne Sorensen
  21. Hi all. Did my first flight with externally IVAP and NGX today - no problems! I use the NGX with the 2nd hotfix. If I use Hotfix 3, I suffer from the well known panelfreezes. Brgds Bjarne Sorensen
  22. Hi all. I just killed some hours trying to find a pattern on the freeze issue, and I found a way to reproduce a freeze. Setup: Hardware: Intel I7-2600 CPU @ 3.4 ghz - 4 gb ram, Geforce GTX280 and WinXP 32 bit, SP3. Aircraft: B737NGX WL, Housecolors. No modifications in setup (A/P panel, HGS etc...) Weather: Std atmosphere: no wind, no clouds Q1013. FMC setup:Dep: EDDS - Dest: EDDTDep rwy: 07Route: OKIBA2H OKIBA N851 RIMKI Z99 LOHRE UN746 ROBEL T200 RUDAK RUDAK5V ZFW 57.0 kgsFuel: 6.0 tonsReserve: 1.5Cost Index: 80Trans Alt: 5000SEL/OAT: +36Derate: TO-2 / CLB 1Flaps: 5CG: 24.6V speeds: 139,139,143 Situation: Lined up RWY 07, EDDS. On the first few flights I got the freeze the excact same spot every time. Just before the first waypoint DS035 at around 7700 - 8000 ft. The departure was conducted as normal operation engaging A/P CMD1 at around 1700 ft. I then tried doing the same things, but this time I used A/P CMD 2. At that point I did not get a freeze at the beforementioned point and I tried numorous times with A/P CMD2, and it seemed like it was delaying the freeze, but eventually it would come. I did have one flight using A/P CMD2 where I actually made it all the way to FL390 but the freeze came 7nm before waypoint "SOPLA" (I thik it came the same time as the FMC stated "Descent path unachieveable" Back with A/P CMD1 the freeze came again just before DS032. I also made a flight without A/P CMD and handflew till around Fl110 - Then there were no freezes, until FL180. One thing that I reproduced twice, was conducting normal takeoff, selecting LNAV/VNAV at 1700 ft but still handflying. When the aircraft reached 2780 ft, and VNAV was just about to change fra 163 kts to 230 climb speed, the freeze came. I then tried doing excactly the same thing but kicking in the A/P CMD (LNAV+VNAV) at 1800 ft , and then there were no freeze .... well until later of course I also managed to reproduce a freeze twice, at the excact time I pressed "STD" baro knob, just after the yellow square on the PFD had appeared (around 5400 ft). It seems to me as the freeze comes at a point where the LNAV/VNAV logic is making a change - either when changing enroute fix or changing VNAV SPEED setting. The last thing I tried was setting up a -800 w/o winglets, with completely different data in the FMC, but with the same departure but different routing and destination. Same, same! I think I will try to uninstall the aircraft, and reinstall it woith out HotFix3 and see if I can get the same results. I will keep you all posted... Brgds Bjarne Sorensen / Denmark
  23. Same problem here....Using WinXP SP2. Brgds SorensenDK
