  1. For those asking about what is modeled and what is not, you simply look at the Honeywell page for the real-world RAAS. Every feature listed that the real thing has is modeled, and some extra features as well.

I bought the FS2Crew RAAS and think it's totally worth it because I will use it on EVERY flight that I do from now on. It's something that I've always wanted for my sim, and something the free version never did for me. (Especially since I had to re-record the free versions sounds because they sounded awful, and even then I just wasn't feeling it lol)

  2. No, Anders was right about the timeline, but I the NGX timeline will correlate to the 777 one, since printing some manuals has nothing to do with the actual development of the plane. I suppose releasing the manuals early gives us time to learn but gives them a way to make a little bit off the plane during the long development cycle.

I think you misunderstood what Luke said. Rob said that they have released the 777 manuals quite a bit closer to release than what they did for the NGX. (Which could be a good sign :P)

  3.

Next logical question then ... for short runways, can you select RTO as the autobrake setting for a landing ?

Best to do would be select max auto to ensure the brakes apply right away and then you can use max manual after you've touched down.

  4. Gentlemen

The B777 with the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)option has the Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) application which enables you to calculate the takeoff/landing performance data.

If this is not included, I am confident TOPCAT will have the data avaiable shortly after the release.

    Best regards

    Palle

The EFB won't be with the initial release, but should be released shortly thereafter once it's completed.

I highly doubt TOPCAT will get an update any time soon... Even for the 777.

  5. No no no, left on Bravo, Link 21, Link 22 hold Alpha 1!

This drives me insane over in Europe. I never think to print off the zoomed in charts and always go crazy trying to find the signs on the airport that say link 22 etc.

  6. Can we get peanuts on all the tray tables too? :LMAO:

But in all honesty, I don't see PMDG going any further with the interior than they did with the NGX. (Which was more than they had done before) PMDG is the company (at least how I see them) that models systems and accurate details in the cockpit with as much eye candy as possible. Beyond the cockpit (i.e- cabin) it stops. Probably 90% of the people couldn't care less about what it looked like behind the cockpit door. After all, the cockpit will be where most of the time is spent.

  7. Thanks Zach,

I know FSX has limitations , but if it's very close to the real 737 numbers, then that shouldn't be a problem.

    Evan Banalian.

Descent idle works as it should and slowly decreases as you descend. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug with the idle when you pass ~30,000ft where your engine idle stops decreasing even though the idle limit still continues to decrease. I always have to hit F1 when I get to 29,000ft to prevent this and start it following the idle limit again.

  8. It's been released as of today. It's on their site now.

Yea, we all just saw it. Now I'm waiting to find out if you can manually enter a flightplan without using the FSX menu. If you can't, I probably won't be buying it. Waste of the G1000 in my opinion if you can't.

  9. but their customer support is no good; shame really.

Haha, you're funny. PMDG has one of the best customer support I've seen for an FSX developer. Many times my support tickets get responded to within a few hours. They don't give canned responses, so I'm not sure where you got that notion from. Plus, they are very active on this forum with many people, whether customers or not. Every person that I have talked to who has sent a support ticket into PMDG have gotten it resolved.

The re-download service is no different than if you bought a boxed product and lost it. Actually, it is much better seeing how if you lost a boxed product and lost it, you would have to buy another one at full price. As Pete said, if you don't backup your installers in different locations, then it's your fault if you have to pay to use PMDG's bandwith to get them back.

Oh, and a heads up that you are required to post your full name on this forum or risk having your posts deleted.

  10. Hey Guys-

I didn't know where to post this so I'll drop it here and you can feel free to move it elsewhere.

I have a bookmark for the PMDG forums on my iPhone and when I open it, I get the forum app popup giving info for said forum app. I click cancel... Then when I go to any other area of the forum, it continues to tell me at every page switch and is exremely anoying. For example, I got it 4 times before even making this post.

Just an FYI about the malfunctioning feature.

  11. How many months passed between the 737 manual release and the actual release? Might be a good gauge for the 777's timeline.

Or not. Completely different products. Completely different working bases (the background code is already written). Hence we should not gauge how the NGX went with the 777. They've already said the development time has been dramatically decreased since they have the codebase already.

  12. You know, someone months ago did a performance excel sheet that was extremely detailed for the 737-800 NGX. Maybe someone could do that for the 777? I'll try and find his post here shortly. It really is a great tool.

    ***EDIT***

    Found it: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/357790-take-off-landing-performance-tool-sheet-b737-800-cfm56-7b26-v103/

Somethig like that for the 777-200LR would be awesome and should be simple to convert to the other variants. FYI- if you're going to check that sheet out, go to one of the last pages because there have been a few updates to it.
