  1. I have tried to get the update but the site does not recognize my email address even though I received an email from carenado saying I should get the update. This is my first Carenado plane, so far not so good.
  2. I wonder why no one ever does the east coast from the Carolinas up through New England, lots of Class B and C airports. Also Long Island from the city out to Block, the Vinyard and Nantucket?
  3. This is a rant about customer access. Many customers, myself included, are not computer experts but do enjoy the flight simulation.I fly my own private plane and also enjoy flight-simming in the fictional world. I have purchased a lot of sim software and hardware. It is annoying to me how the honest, money up front customers are being made to jump through hoops for access to products and support for products that they have purchased all in the interest of trying to defeat software pirates (an exercise that even Apple has not mastered). I accept the fact that companies must protect their products but at what cost to customers?I used to download products from Flight 1 but stopped when all of the frequent reloads and finding keys, etc, became too much of a chore. My interest is in flying the sim not in having a computer workout. With earlier versions of MSFlight I struggled with downloads. Now I only buy boxed software.I used to visit the Flight 1 forum for Mustang (my favorite sim) but lately it has been making me login on every visit. Of course the logins often don't work. After the necessary trip to their support page, the email comes back with my information and that usually does not work either, a complete waste of time. The forum won’t accept there own information that they send to me. They must think I am going to steal forum notes. The object of this rant is that all of this is turning off a lot of people who are not guilty of doing anything to hurt these software companies. There must be a less obtrusive way to protect company products than aggravating the customers.
  4. Hi, I apologize if this question is off topic but I wasn't sure where to look for information about Vatsim.I have never flown the heavies, is Vatsim basically an Airline operation and the training is for Airliner pilots?I read a little about it in the current (Jan.2011) Computer Pilot magazine but couldn't quite understand the range of flights operations.
  5. "Thanks. This problem is now in the hands of the Australian importer who I hope will refer back to the manufacturer. "If the Australian importer is who I think it is, lots of luck.I fly the Citation Mustang ( IMHO the best add-on plane in FSX ).After each flight in the Mustang I have to restart my computer in order for the complex Mustang to initialize correctly.
  6. Hi, I was thinking of buying the 48 module for Heading, Cursor, Altitude, VS, etc. for the Citation Mustang. You say it takes many turns, how would you compare it to turning the knob using the Mouse Wheel on the screen?
  7. Hi, I fly both Flight1’s Cessna Citation Mustang and Cessna 172 on my computer using a CH Yoke and Pedals, keyboard and mouse.I would like to expand the flight experience with some desk top controls and stop using the keyboard and mouse for everything.I am very low tech so I think I should stay with plug and play.Question: GoFlight has a Private Pilot stack with 6 modules. 1 GF-T8, 2 GF-166, 2 GF-P8, 1 GF-46.It has no throttle module but there is a very basic single throttle on the CH Yoke.Would the GF Private Pilot stack be a good package for the Mustang or would other hardware be a better idea?I have read a number of posts on the subject and come away confused by the choices. Thanks for any and all suggestions.Jack N115YR
  8. Your nephews are your problem, I don't see how they have anything to do with this. When I was there age our problem was that letter from Uncle that gave us a ticket to "see the world".And we never had a rant, we just said yes sir, ah the good old days, like trying to start a C54 skymaster on a cold morning.I have been on the trackir forums with quite a few messages. Both vincent and seth from natural point have each recommended settings which are different from the settings I have had suggested from folks here.To date I have 5 different recommended settings from both forums and none of them seem to be able to control how quickly the screen flashes side to side, up and down.I tried returning the package but the sim vendor won't exchange it because "it is an opened item". This is the only add-on that I have ever had a real problem with,I have been using the MS sim since about 1988, mostly for pre-flight planning, I think it was the version 3.0.Trackir sounded like a good idea but
  9. I have made all of the recommended settings that I have read on the tutorials and on the trackir site.A number of forum participants have offered their help; why do I have to spend so much time on this add-on?Don't the programers and the creators expect us to use this out of the box? Or is this raw software with a buyer beware? It works sometimes a little; I have never spent so much time getting some add-on to work.Yesterday it seemed to be ok if I didn't move my head, just the slightest movement made it go crazy.Today nothing could stop the gyrations, thankfully I had brought a puke-bag on the flight. I think this gadget (and it appears to be a gadget) is hopeless, a waste of $150.00, don't tell the wife, goodbye, back in the box.

    Making the Leap

My OMG was many years ago (in a Cessna taildragger) when I first realized I was up there all alone and I was going to have to land that beast. The sim does help us to spec out a flight before we go and before we file, especially cross countries, like fuel hops from PA to AK.enjoy
  11. I made a number of upgrades and decided that win7-64 would be a good idea, too.IMO upgrading from XP-FS9 to WIN7-64 FSX has made my flight sim so much better, at least for me.
  12. Hi, thank you MAD DOG, Thank you for your time explaining how to setup the Trackir 5 for FSX. I just returned from a turn-around flight in my real time job and gave it a go.IMO the real world is not as difficult as the trackir sim hardware but maybe that is just me.I added your settings for FSX-Trackir and darkened the room even more. Wife wonders "what's going on in there?".The screen is still jumpy but at least I can look side to side, impossible to use the panels.I will use it on occasion and work with tweaks when I have time. Thanks again.I had no idea when I purchased this add-on that it required tweaking a complex set-up for using it in FSX.
