  1. Alright, sorry I posted. Im just about ready to quit flight sim now that I have been told my system is worthless.
  2. Im not so sure about that. Its an Asus X83V. I do not believe Best buy would be selling me a 5 year old laptop, not to mention that it would not sell anyimte bbefore then.
  3. What part does not? I have the OS, it is a dual core processor, just not specifically a core 2 duo, I have the 4gb RAM, and 1 GB video memory. What do I not have?
  4. I was simply looking for help, other than getting a new system AS I STATED or being beaten down. I acknowledged it is old and outdated. Some people need to read.
  5. Actually, they do meet the minimum requirements.MinimumOS: Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 (latest service packs), Flight Simulator X with SP2 or Acceleration installed. Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD equivalentRAM: 2GB if only running the NGX, 4GB if running other addons (scenery, traffic etc)Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible with 512MB of video memory (examples: Nvidia 8800GT, AMD/ATI Radeon 4870)
  6. I wonder if it would be possible to take it to a PC shop and have them upgrade the processor to something better.....
  7. I agree, but I do take very good care of it. I have only a small fraction of memory being used, I defrag regularly, run disk cleanups, CC Cleaner, and the works. I get 30-35 in the 747-400.
  8. Hi all, I just wanted to say that I love the NGX; only have a few hours on it but it is really something. Everything works great, but performance could be improved. My system is a couple years old now, and not high performance by today's standards at all. Centrino 2.13Ghz with NVIDIA 9600MGS 1MB and 4GB RAM. Any sugguestions for how I can squeeze more performance out of the plane, not including getting a new system? I have made the tweaks PMDG sugguested in the introduction manual. Cruising, I get 30-35, but not consistently. They drop down to 15 or even 7 sometimes, creating an annoying lag. I do not have FPS limiter, and am running REX 2.0 Overdrive with HD clouds. Also, will the next update possibly help with the overall performance of the plane? (NOTE: I do realize due to the complex nature of the aircraft that performance issues are to be expected) Any help is appreciated, Morgan W
  9. Wow, how stupid am I today. Thanks, the one place I didn't look at closely.....
  10. Guys, I know that there are hundreds of pages about normal PROCEDURES that come with the NGX. After about an hour of filtering through them, which is not a lot considering their size, I have not found the checklist. I am sure different airlines have different checklists, but I thought PMDG would release one like they did for the 747. Thanks. Morgan W
  11. I am not an ATP Certified pilot, or even a Private Pilot. I am however a Student Pilot with 20 hours of flight time under my belt. I fly the C152 and C172. FSX is good replication of what goes on in the airplane. The systems and procedures match real life quite well. That being said, the real world is just not the same compared to flight simulator. For one, you didn't get the yoke pressure that thermals and other turbulent phenomenon generate. You also don't get the bounce and bump that small planes do, especially during the summer. It is different flying an aircraft in smooth air compared to flying an aircraft in very turbulent weather, which is common for small aircraft. If you want to complement your lessons, flight simulator is a definite bonus. My CFI encourages me to use it because it noticeably helps compared to the progress of other pilots. If you just use flight simulator and expect to jump into a C172 and fly a private pilot quality approach, you are sadly mistaken. Flight simulator and the real world are two different things. There is nothing like actually "being there" in a C152 as you cut the power and use the ground effect to touch the aircraft down on the runway, hearing the unique stall horn slightly blowing from the leading edge of the left wing. -Morgan W
  12. I would have to agree with you, that is one of the best NGX shots I have seen. The only thing to bite our nails over now is the price. Hopefully it is competitive like they have been claiming.
  13. Sigh! Maybe you will tell us in your next update in the future! I wonder when that update is coming out?
  14. Thanks Ryan, I thought it probably would be. If PMDG had the ability to do it, they would. However, just like weather radar, FSX has its downfalls.
  15. Yeah, I thought about that myself. I was just wondering because it just adds a little more realism to the taxi phase of flight.
  16. Can the tiller be used only in the NGX instead of the rudder, or is it another FSX limitation?
  17. Captains,As always I apologize ahead of time if this has already been discussed; I have yet to see anything like what I am getting at. Anyways, I know that the 747 has a tiller that is used for taxi operations. Just to make sure, the 737 NG does not have a tiller, right? I was also wondering, is there any way to just use the tiller for taxi in the 747 in FSX? Another thing, during 737 NG taxi, does the rudder move? If there is no tiller, the rudder pedals must be manipulated, which also control the rudder of the airplane. The reason I ask is that on a recent trip to Newark, I noticed how some aircraft were turning during ground operations with no rudder movement. Any elaborations, comments, or corrections are appreciated below, as always.-Captain Morgan
  18. I agree with most people above. The rule I go by is a 767 and up has the title "Heavy" appended to the call sign. However, all aircraft that I know of create wakes that should be taken seriously, whether flying a Cessna 152 or a Boeing 747.
  19. LOL. I imagine the website doing a lot of work on release day. Sorry I posted, never heard them say anything about it yet. Ive only been following the project closely for six months, so I may have missed it.
  20. Fantastic, thanks for the reply. PMDG decided to overhaul the system just in time, I suspect many people will be purchasing the NGX in a short amount of time.
  21. CaptainsI am not sure if this has been covered yet, which is why I apologize in advance if it has already been discussed in the forums. We all know that the NGX is coming, and soon. So when it does, what can we expect with the download service? I have not yet purchased a PMDG on release day, but I plan to, along with thousands if not more other people. Will the servers, website, and checkout process be able to handle all of the ramped up traffic? I would be disappointed if the NGX came out and I was not able to purchase it on the first day due to the servers or purchasing process being maxed out. Knowing PMDG and their high standards they hold for their customers, I do not tihnk there will be any problems. However, there has to be a limit to the maximum number of people who can purchase the aircraft at one time. Others thoughts are welcome, and as a disclaimer I mean no ignorance or disrespect to PMDG or anyone.Have a good night,Morgan
  22. Surely you can't be serious. Some people, I just don't get it.
