  1. I thought i'd post my question on this thread what with it being called "PMDG installers for SE" rather than make a new thread with the same name so if anyone can help me please, how are the guys getting on with the installers as i can't see anything on the forum news wise that really stands out so far? Please forgive me for asking but i've not been keeping up with the forum news recently and i'm not entirely sure where to look for any installer news.
  2. Talking of Captain Randazzo hanging out of things, did Robert have his latest Avatar picture taken while flying in one of these? Just joking Robert and thank you for being kind to me in an earlier thread. And a very Merry Christmas to you and everyone who has been influenced by PMDG over the years.
  3. I thought i would leave the second sentence from your quoted post intact here Robert as i feel like a child on Christmas day to hear that news. I can't wait to fly my FSX PMDG 747 version for the first time without damaging my delicate under carriage and causing a crash without even setting off on the old FSX platform. Ok i know it's probably an elevation issue regarding the runway in question but it still put me off. I don't understand what you mean when you say skimming and getting confused on the issues, i would love to explain what experience i have regarding Railworks, third party developers, DTG and Steam if that's what you mean. By the way can i just say i feel truly honored that you've called me by my first name here after reading your posts many times over the years, i quite like the forum signature rules here as it does feel more homely and friendly after all.
  4. They don't, a third party developer just adds to the FSX-SE platform, Steam has no involvement at all in that process.
  5. I thought i would post on some things you may expect from DTG and FSX-SE in the future judging on my experience with DTG with the Railworks (Now TS2015) platform. FSX-SE will probably from now on get periodic upgrades such as this information given to Railworks users before the TS2014 to TS2015 upgrade which can break third party products but hopefully they soon issue a fix to get back on track but In general third party products normally stay intact. You will be able to Verify your games files now, which means if you mess up while trying to alter files within FSX-SE, you can get the product back to its original state rather than Uninstalling/Reinstalling which is handy. However if you have modified third party sound files for the original DTG products they will need to be reinstalled. (i'm thinking of the current Railworks situation here) Third party developers can charge what they want for their products, Armstrong Powerhouse and Just Trains for instance do for the TS2015 platform and on the whole their products are far more lovingly developed, they also issue upgrades from time to time to keep up to date and sometimes like Just Trains, they can charge you for an updated version. I might say at this point that DTG wil offer no support for third party products as they're not their own products. Just Trains once asked their customers if they wanted their products to be available by the Steam distribution method but to this date JT have kept their products in-house and once you buy a product from JT you can re-download you purchased product from their website forever. (that's also the case with Armstrong Powerhouse) I have a few products from JT and AP to date. Looking to the future i can only see FSX-SE being upgraded to a more managable state than it is now and third party developers hopefully thriving with however much love and dedication they want to put into their products. PMDG, to me you can stay with the myriad of settings within the current broken FSX or work out a fix so your products will run ok on the new future FSX-SE platform, i do sincerely hope you guys can work something out for the future flight simmers that come along and indeed your current customers. By the way, i'm not tyrying to knock you guys in anyway shape or form here, i will probably get back into playing FSX-SE when i can fly my PMDG 737 NGX and 747 again which for the latter, i've not even flown yet due to the current FSX problems, it just jumped on the runway and i decided to just give up from then on. By the way i loved your Flight Simulator 2004 737 and 747 products which are just gathering dust now due to FS2004 not being installed. :(
  6. Not quite Simple As, I got confused, i was and have signed my posts "Si" and some of my posts are still here, my full name is Simon Palmer but i would like to sign as Si if possible. Also are links ok such as Just Trains as that may have also caused an issue i'm not sure. Please advise me if possible as i don't want to be seen as disruptive. Edit: actually i've just read the rules and it doesn't mention links so i'm pleased i can post those oh and i've sussed out the signature now.
  7. My posts took ages to compile, they were heartfelt for PMDG and constuctive, iv'e never been censored before now,. Simon Palmer. Just check my Topics. Si.
  8. To be fair the Railworks developer community is up and running even with DTG in charge of the current platform, for instance there's Armstrong Powerhouse, Just Trains, Digital Traction, Creative Rail, to name but a few who are far more respected than anything DTG has to offer to date. PMDG i'm pretty sure will be a major developer in the new dedicated FSX=SE community if you guys allow but i know it's very early days and quite a change for us all. Si.
  9. I must admit i stopped playing FSX in the discarded Microsoft version one day when my PMDG 747 version was just jumping on the runway with all the addons i had installed from various developers plus fixes which were passionately put together by the community and it really put me off trying to get FSX working again until now. DTG have said as quoted from the New Steam FSX Forum. Originally posted by DTG_Admin: "The issue is largely down to the age of FSX. Since official development on the simulator stopped quite a few years ago it has been adopted by the community with dedicated groups and individuals keeping it somehow moving forwards. Effectively FSX has evolved down many paths from its last official update. In FSX: Steam Edition we've gone back to that last update point and used that as the starting point, since it's the only common ancestor every current FSX owner has. The upshot is that some add-ons will have inevitably used workarounds or methods that are incompatible with the reworked core, hence their no working correctly with FSX: Steam Edition. We gain nothing from this turn of events; it is our hope that as many add-on teams as possible can modify some of the great work they've done in order for it to work with FSX: Steam Edition, but when it comes down to it that's their decision to make. - Sam" To me DTG have taken a broken flight sim and tried to start from the last update provided by Microsoft and attempted to take the sim a step further in development. I am truly hoping PMDG will be able to work a compromise with DTG to making FSX worth playing for me as without PMDG, FSX is not worth the aggravation. Full respect intended. Si.
  10. Ahh i see, thanks for the heads up Kyle, actually i've just noticed a mistake on my part with spelling on my previous post. (I will edit Managed to Manages. ) Si. Actually i don't have permission to edit my previous post, oh well never mind.
  11. I just looked at P3D as i've been away from FSX for a while and wondered what it was, it seems a bit pricey to me. It must be a mistake but i can say i'm looking forward to resurecting my old 747 and 737 for the Steam updated version when PMDG manages to suss out what's going on. Si.
  12. Thankyou for posting this thread Tamer008, i didn't realise there were some videos like this, i'll look forward to using them as a guide for when i start flying my PMDG 737's.
  13. I have submitted a support ticket to see if the PMDG guys can figure this one out. Thankyou for taking the time out to read my problem guys, it's certainly got me stumped for an answer.
  14. I decided after my FSX kept crashing to do a fresh install of all my products but run a test after each installation. After installing FSX & the Aceleration pack restarting my PC each time, i then used CCleaner to clean files & scan the registry for issues. Once done i ran the default 737 for one hour on the tarmac at Gatwick runway 8R with no problems, closed FSX then ran CCleaner to clean files & scan for reg issues & there were no issues. I then restarted my PC for the next installation being the NGX 8/900. I ran the NGX 800 WL using the same routine as the previous test with no problems with FSX or the cleaning process after closing FSX, i then restarted my PC & installed the NGX 6/700. As before, same conditions i ran the NGX 800 WL again which ran fine then when i clicked end flight the options screen was placed at the bottom right of my PC & i had to CTL/ALT/Delete to end FSX. I checked online for a similar problem with other users & realised i needed to install the FSUIPC4 program so i did & that fixed the closing down of FSX problem. After closing down FSX from now on & using CCleaner for the cleanup & registry i get a ActiveX/Com AcroExch issue or an ActiveX/Com AcroBrokers issue, the report can change each time to some other ActiveX issue but i only get the issue when i load up an NGX plane. I can load a default plane & i dont get an ActiveX issue anymore. So i can run the NGX just fine but it's the ActiveX issue that has got me thinking before i install any other products i have & get an FSX crash again. I would have used a support ticket with PMDG but i could'nt figure out what kind of report to ask about. By the way i have the updated NGX products that don't need the service packs & i restarted my PC after each instalation of the NGX 8/900 & 6/700. Any ideas guys? Si.
  15. Thankyou for your input guys i really do appreciate it. Before i go any further with changing stuff would any of these suggestions change the Default Air Traffic Control Voice to saying the correct runways for EGCC? Si.
