  1. I flew Mt. McKinley last night. The mountains look pretty bland from a distance, but you can see them suddenly develop more detail as you approach. They're pretty good from up close. The filling in effect is a little distracting from reality. I must say that being able to change from my RV6A to the Red Tail P-51 mid flight is a nice "non-reality" feature. P-51 climbs a bit better :-)
  2. I think this is an Airtech DHC-3-1000, based on the Otter with a 1000 HP Polish made PZL ASz-62 9 Cylinder radial engine. http://en.wikipedia....PolishOtter.jpg Hard to find a picture from the right angle, but the engine is also used in the Antonov AN-2, which has a better picture available on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia....led_in_An-2.jpgJust my totally uneducated guess....
  3. Seems to me I ran into this as well until I hunted down the beta uninstall instructions. Here are the instructions....Before you install the final version of Microsoft Flight, however, please make sure that you uninstall the beta by following the instructions below:· Uninstall Microsoft Flight from the Add/Remove Programs screen· Delete the following directories (if they exist). Navigate to them by pasting the paths given below in the address bar of Windows Explorer:· %UserProfile%My DocumentsFlight· %LocalAppData%MicrosoftFlight· %LocalAppData%MicrosoftXLiveDLC4d5308d3· %AppData%MicrosoftFlight
  4. Since the RV6A doesn't come with reference speeds and the airspeed indicator doesn't show the white band for flap speed range, i went searching for V speed values from real life. Here is what I found at http://www.vansairforce.org/POH/RV-6_2/RV-6_2.pdf. This is specific to a particular aircraft, but I hope it is close enough to be helpful, it's certainly closer that the nothing that MS gives us.Vs0 (stall speed in landing configuration) 42 ktsVs1 (stall speed, no flaps) 47 ktsVref (approach) 60-65 ktsTouchdown 55 kts Vr (rotation) 55 ktsVfe (max full flap speed) 87 ktsVmax (max cruise) 175 ktsVne (never exceed) 183 ktsVx (best climb angle) 65 ktsVy (best climb rate) 75 kts
  5. I just got my Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X on Friday. Fantastic joystick. I tweaked the default mappings some, assigned extend/retract flaps to the two bottom buttons on the right of the throttle. I don't find the slider on the back of the throttle all that usable as a rudder, too sensitive, but rudder on the joystick twist works great. Definitely a major upgrade from the Logitech Attack 3 that I had before.
