  1. Basically it separates and sequences all traffic as a IRL controller would do. By vectors and speed commands. And you can hear and see all that around you. The user is just one aircraft of many and handled in the same way as AI traffic (there is an option to be prioritized though). As many as your system can handle, default is 50 parked and 20 active and that's all my old system can handle but I've seen others report they use a lot more. I will be sequenced properly behind him by vectors and speed commands so that there won't be a conflict. Same, he will be sequenced properly behind me. One of us will be told to hold position, normally long before such a head to head encounter would occur. All aircraft get taxi clearances for appropriate taxi routes or hold instructions with regard to other traffic. All in all it works very good already. I never had such an immersive ATC experience in a sim. Some little quirks need to be ironed out, I am looking forward to their next update. FSHud is in public Beta.
  2. Actually FSHud already does it. Still needs some finetuning but they already achieved it. And it is already available since some time.
  3. ASFS does not set the time in the sim. It is vice versa. You set the time in the sim you want. Then you have the option in ASFS to get the historical weather for that time with the "Force Historical Time to Sim Time" - option. But you don't need to. You can use live weather or any historical weather in ASFS and set any date and time in the sim you want. But don't change the weather settings in MSFS while ASFS is running, that messes up ASFS.
  4. Start with the default settings (they are just fine) and make adjustments if you see the need.
  5. I manually downloaded the file for Active Sky P3DV6 from the Navigraph website and then moved the AS-folder into the ASFS installation, default location for me is C:\Program Files\HiFi\AS_FS\NavigraphData Maybe make a backup of the originial AS-folder before in case anything goes wrong.
  6. And like Pilot2ATC, FSHud and Simbrief already do in MSFS. Hopefully some more developers including Fenix will implement an option to use the ASFS weather in their products soon. Regarding the winds aloft afaik the Fenix already reads them from SimBrief so these should match the ASFS weather as Simbrief already supports ASFS. I haven't noticed any issues with the Fenix after dozens of flights with ASFS.
  7. No matter how good the new weather system of MSFS20924 will be, there will always be aspects that could be added, improved or enhanced by third party developers. I hope MS/Asobo will do themselves and all users the favor to allow third party addons to do that.
  8. Add PF3 to the list. But they also needed years until the vectoring was in the perfect state it is now. Both Radar Contact and PF3 do not control AI traffic of course. This. These newcomers might have bitten off more than they can chew at the moment. You might be positively surprised soon. They have been working on it for a while and they are almost there. Let's wait and see what their next update will bring.
  9. Data every minute sounds a bit extreme. They don't even do that with live weather, do they? And this is where plausability vs accuracy comes into play. Having plausible historic weather for up to one year in the past would be good enough for me. They could only take and archive 4 worldwide snapshots per day (so every six hours) and interpolate between them. That would already provide plausible weather for the date and time and would be a lot better than being limited to just one day.
  10. I am using both. They work fine together.
  11. Well, we already know now that it will only provide "historical" weather for just 24 hours, so it will still be deficient in that regard. Exactly. And the same goes for the date. They tie the position of the sun, time of sunrise and sunset to the date set in the sim, but still not the weather. So we will still for example encounter blizzards (as per the IRL winter weather of the current day) even if we set the date in the sim to summer, etc. So after all this announcement - though better than nothing - is quite disappointing to me. I just hope that third party weather addons like ASFS will still be possible in MSFS2024, otherwise it would even be a step back in this regard, now that we have historical weather for several years in the past with ASFS in MSFS.
  12. Yes, hopefully it will still work in MSFS2024. With this announcement that they will only provide historical weather for just 24h it is already clear now that we will need third party weather addons in MSFS2024 as well. I just hope MS/Asobo will allow that to a wider extent than they did in MSFS2020.
  13. Simbrief gives you a STAR and arrival runway, doesn't it? So use that for your calculations. Most of the time FSHud will keep the filed runway and STAR, unless weather or traffic dictate otherwise. Apart from that FSHud assigns the STAR and arrival runway well before the TOD, so normally you have enough time to feed your FMC.
  14. Yes, when it comes to the development of AI traffic control BATC seem to be rather years than months behind the already available FSHud, which has made some significant progress in the recent weeks. SayIntentions seems to make some nice progress as well and hopefully soon will get to developing AI traffic control too (they have to find a solution for their pricing issue of course...) Hopefully BATC has enough resources to keep going until they can come up with something competitive and won't be forced to release something half-baked to generate some cash-flow.
  15. Nobody has ever claimed ASFS could show weather fronts in "Preset Mode". It can't. What people try to point out though is that weather presets in MSFS not necessarily have to look uniform from horizon to horizon. Presets can look immersive, and they do with ASFS.
  16. Are you aware you can use both FSLTL and AIG at the same time with FSHud? That ensures you will always have enough adequate traffic. And starting FSLTL is really not cumbersome. Actually it is three mouse clicks and one press of return. 😉
  17. It's working fine. I've already made a few flights with FSHud and historical weather in ASFS and FSHud reads the weather correctly. ATIS by FSHud matches the ASFS weather and runway assignments are appropriate. Btw I assume the lack of ASFS support wasn't the only reason for you to quit the other product?
  18. There was a time when users who found a possible issue with a flightsim addon went to the appropriate support forum to either get help there or even help the developer fix the possible issue. Nowadays everybody seems to create a video, not to get support by the developer, but instead to give it a ridiculous, hyperbolic clickbait title and load it up to youtube to get clicks for his channel. That is what is totally useless.
  19. The in-sim turbulence setting still has an effect. Set it to your liking. ASFS was developed with the setting to low. But you can set it higher if you like.
  20. Actually that's just a workaround as long as the "Update - Upload a new weather snapshot" option in Simbrief does not work due to some time-out issue. Will hopefully get fixed soon on their side.
  21. 1. Set the date and time in the ASFS historical weather menu and let it complete the download. 2. Open the system-tray and right click the Simbrief-Downloader icon (needs to be installed of course) 3. Select "Upload Active Sky Weather" 4. When completed open Simbrief and select "Historical Weather: Enabled - Use your uploaded snapshot". 5. Select "Change Date" and continue as usual
  22. Your explanation makes totally sense and this is not directed against your argument, but eventually I don't believe that they are just not able to. Where there's a will there's a way, in particular when you are Microsoft...
