  1. Thanks for that. Yes sorry, it was the Blackbox video. He was very positive about the add-on but did mention the 'synthetic' female voice at the end. Happy to read that you will be aiming to add a female voice added by a voice artist. Speaking of Youtubers, the avatar that Blackbox was using looks a little bit like youtuber Captain Joe I think 🙂 (maybe only in that the avatar is a white male with dark hair, but still...) Thanks.
  2. It was a stream I was watching last night showing off the Fenix animated copilot. Maybe it was a joke and it went over my head 🙂 edit: The stream was very positive about the Fs2crew Fenix animated copilot and showed it off in a good light. But at the end he showed the red headed female avatar and seemed to say that there were no female voices for it. edit again: Ah, he said that "at the moment they don't have a female human voice (for the copilot) only a synthetic voice". Does that make sense? I assume by synthetic he means text-to-speech? Thanks.
  3. Hi again Bryan. I was watching a video on the animated copilot for the Fenix earlier, and I think they said there aren't any female voices for the copilot (despite the avatar). Did I misunderstand? Thanks 🙂
  4. Regarding the co-pilot model I'd been thinking that you could add a 'Random' option. But then arguably you'd need to associate each character model with their own voice, so maybe it wouldn't be as easy as I first thought. I have a suspicion that web pages exist where results can be filtered, but tbf if I bought the Animated Copilot then the selection that I wanted would probably be near the top of the list anyway.
  5. I do quite like the look of this. Flying an virtual airliner single-pilot is fine, but one of the issues I never really got used to with fs2crew is that once you have a simulated copilot, it is weird not being able to see what they do. I'm trying to learn the 737 SOP2 at the moment but this is on my mental wishlist (as would be the PMDG 738 version). Quick question: Is there an option to set it to choose a animated copilot for each flight? (So that you don't always have "Hispanic Man" or "Redhead woman" for example). Also quick complaint/request so that I don't come across as too much of a word not allowed: In FS2Crew Command Centre, could we have an option to hide the products that we don't have please? Thanks.
  6. Hi. I'm trying to understand all of the SOP2 flows and checklists. In the Before Start Checklist (to the line), the 2nd item is "Gear Pins" and the response is "1, 2, 3, removed." The 3 gear pins are stored at the back of the centre console so I can imagine the Captain reaching back, and touching each in turn as they say it (otherwise why not just say '3 removed'). Given that, are the probe covers in the cockpit as well? (the response being "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, REMOVED") It seemed like the Captain was counting as he said it and I couldn't see how. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for that byork. I'd done a couple of flights after reading the manual and watching a couple of youtube videos. Just wondered what that one was 🙂 Thanks.
  8. Hi I recently bought this product for the Fenix, and it seems like a lot of fun but I'm flying to understand the process. There is a flow named 'Main Cockpit Preparation' but I don't see it in the manual and it doesn't seem to do much when I trigger it with a button. Does it happen automatically with a certain trigger, and if not, how do I ask for it with voice? Also, what does it do? Thanks, I don't think I missed a manual with the answer in, but if so, sorry 🙂
  9. What the heck? 😃 I'm definitely, 200% sure that I tried that when it first happened. 🤔 But it worked this time so I probably pressed the wrong button previously. Thanks for the very fast response Dave.
  10. Hi. I get an error with activating Pilot2ATC. I've only ever used it on this PC I think. It is possible to disable the license on the "other PC"? I hope that this is the right place to ask. Thanks.
  11. Thanks Bryan. I think its fine if I start the APU before the Before Start Checklist, which probably makes sense. (i.e. if I want to delay starting the APU until needed, it still makes sense to have it up and running before running that checklist). Thanks.
  12. Hi. I tried searching for this but didn't find anything similar, so sorry if I missed it. I'd been trying to delay starting the APU until I needed it. I was running on External Power up until then. Then, I pressed the APU power and the FO seemed to turn the External Power off at that point (which made everything go blank until the APU had started). Is there a way to fit starting-the-APU-10minutes-before-pushback into the flows successfully? Thanks very much.
  13. Thanks for the reply Bryan. I did search youtube, I tried phrases like "msfs pushback express distance mode" or "pushback express msfs beta". I'd seen the comments in the release notes about how scenery and aircraft are encrypted and how simconnect has limitations. That does answer the question I'd always wondered about "why doesn't someone just make a copy of xplane's Better Pushback?". I was just hoping to see someone using PBE. So, in the above example, Distance moves the marshaller and represents the total distance of the pushback. Offset is how far from marshaller the aircraft will start turning and final heading's meaning is obvious. It does look like a pretty good solution within the limitations, thanks. One small suggestion, it might be worth adding the aircraft's starting heading for information on that screen. Obviously you can see it in the cockpit but it might be handy. Thanks.
  14. Hi. I'd ignored PBE because I wanted a pushback solution that would let you define the pushback before it starts and then not need to worry whilst the pushback is happening. Distance mode looks interesting. Anyone know of any youtube videos of someone using distance mode? Thanks.
  15. Hi. Thanks for ChasePlane. I looked on the P3D forums and Prepar3d doesn't require you to run as an administrator. Could you please add an option when installing to not run as administrator? Also, please allow a custom Documents/AppData location (so that Chaseplane doesn't add settings to the administrator's documents and appdata folders, and then that folder not be used when running it from within P3D as a non-admin user. I saw it mentioned that Chaseplane requires admin rights in order to work, but if Prepar3d can run as a normal user then I would suspect that it would be possible for CP to do this as well. I have Prepar3d v4 and Chaseplane but I never fly with them (instead using a different simulator). This is a major reason for that. It is a shame because ChasePlane is a very nice product other than this. Thanks very much.
  16. Thanks Dave. So you can request flight following whilst in flight using Pilot2ATC? That's good to know. I'm still on the trial license but it does seem very impressive. I was on a flight the other day, ATC assigned me a STAR. I messed it up and ATC gave me vectors to get me back on track again (several times). Nice.
  17. Jumping on this old thread as it is related and has some overlap. I want to fly a Baron 58 from London City airport (Category A) which will then change to VFR when clear of relevant airspace. What is the best way of doing this? I could, I think, file an IFR flight plan leaving EGLC in the right direction and then cancel IFR at the appropriate time. I could I think then fly un-ATC'd until approaching the airfield I was going to, where I could talk to Approach. My first question was, can I request flight following whilst in the air? (after cancelling IFR?) Secondly, can I use VFR flight following as a valid way of leaving EGLC rather than filing an IFR flight plan, instead going the whole way VFR with flight following? Thanks.
  18. Hi Dave. Bumping an old thread but I had a similar problem. I had no text shown in the grammar help. Seeing your response here I went and checked and because I'm not running as administrator, the file GrmrHelperData.xml had gone into the administrator's appdata rather than mine. Copying it over seemed to resolve the problem. (OT, I had another issue earlier where no response came from controllers over the radio; turned out that I had Ext Pwr and Avionics on but not the battery so it was ignoring me, so my fault on that one 😀). It is still my first say with P2A but it seems really good, thanks.
  19. Thanks very much for the reply Pete. I don't have the trial yet as I wanted to check a few things first. Previously I've had trial versions of very good products but half used them for a day or 2 and then because they didn't quite do what I expected and/or I hadn't done the correct configuration, I put them to 1 side of a week, then panic with a couple of days of license left. Good to know there's that option there.
  20. Hi. Is there an option to tell controllers to speak more slowly? Ideally I guess you could say that verbally but is there a speed choice either within the interface or perhaps by changing the Windows text-to-speech settings? I ask because although Pilot2ATC looks very good, the controllers seem to speak very quickly. I know that you can either read the text as it appears on screen, and/or click the button to get the 'copilot' to read back for you. Just wondered if it was possible to slow down the audio a bit for us noobs? Thanks. (Sorry, I did try searching the forums but couldn't find any relevant results)
  21. Also that running FSX was involving more and more workarounds. These aren't needed with FSX-SE it just installs. Dovetail updated FSX enough to get it to be easy to install and to run at a basic level. Then they worked on updating it to 64 bit and hopefully a few other updates. I haven't played Flight School as much as I'd have hoped, but that was due to the lessons and tests not being as good as I'd hoped (sorry DTG). Assuming that DTG continue allowing 3rd parties to make addons as they have with FSX and Train Simulator, and work with those 3rd parties, it should be well worth buying imo. Its likely that not every issue on everyone's wishlist will be covered on release date (or at all in some cases) and it probably won't be as optimised as it could be (nor is xplane).
  22. Looks good. Although I initially thought they'd got their priorities wrong with the UI (Dovetail similarly did this with Flightschool), I like the look of the new interface. I really like that it will be possible to chose a ramp start from the quick flight screen and that you're shown a map of the airport to select locations from. Its surprised me in the past how often the default FSX C172 is used for basic checkrides and online flight training, but on that basis I'm happy to see the XP 172 getting some attention. I also think that decent 3D cockpits are more than 'eye-candy' and hope that the improvements to the default aircraft encourage 3rd party developers to make further improvements. My graphics card has 3gb memory and I think I might need to upgrade soon. edit: Also, is XP11 likely to be released on Steam on launch day? And although supporting the developers is a good thing, is there any other benefit to buying it now over waiting for release? Thanks.
  23. So as I understand it, the basis of the theory is that PMDG used a workaround for xplane whereby they found out how to make xplane's flight model behave like FSX's. Then they could just do what they'd do for FSX. That would be a bit rubbish, but as I understand it PMDG have said that this isn't the case. Great.
  24. Hi Kyle. 368.22 released 23/5/2016 I had a message in Event Viewer yesterday that "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" But I've also had xplane crash with the nvidia module shown as the fauling application. Thanks.
  25. Thanks for the answer Kyle. I'm using HD Mesh v3 and the airport from the download link in the tutorial. My simulator crashed on the flight where I'd entered the flight plan so that might be it. (Seem to be having difficulties related to nvidia causing xplane to crash. I've backed my rendering settings off slightly after setting them to mirror yours when we were talking about lighting, and also made sure my graphics driver was up to date. Hopefully that'll fix it) Thanks for the quick reply above.
