  1. An old you but a goodie for sure. As a developer myself, I stand strongly behind copyrights. That said, I was recently asking myself the same question for an entirely different reason. I was working on sets oh joystick profiles…tying aircraft functions to joystick buttons. The issue is with helicopters, specifically things like working landing and search lights, hoist and sling ops, etc. The ide is that if I had a dime for every time I had to take my hands off the cyclic or collective to hit a button tha is ON the cyclic or collective…and in doing so put the bird into the dirt…id have enough $ for a Starbucks Grande Americano with an extra shot. The hoist/sling stuff is pretty straight forward. The landing/search lights not so much. Sure the Landing Light Toggle works and sometimes the Parking Light toggle works for the search lights. However, it is anybody's guess (and I've made many) with regard to Landing Light Extend/retract and searchlight extend, retract and swivel left/right. (No, the Landing Lights up/down/left/right don't work, neither does things like tailhook, wing fold, water rudder, etc.) My thought was to decompile the MDL just to identify what animations were being substituted for various functions so I could tie in the joystick profile. While I think such an effort would be well on the right side of the ethics boundary…it sound from these posts that it still be in the land of too hard. Thoughts? I should probably just reach out to the developers and ask them strait up shouldn't I? Problem is there as several different developers. Happy Holidays!
  2. An old topic to be sure. I experience the same thing recently on a flight over the Canadian Rockies - using regular FSX Downloaded WX. Got a wind off the left nose of 67-74 kts. LNAV and HDG both doing S-Turns…and over banking the aircraft even though I had set the max angle of bank to 10º. Good to know that this is a known issues with solutions (for me it looks like I'll be playing wit FSUIPC) That said, my solution was to turn off all lateral AP functions (left VNAV alone) and hand flew it. Kind of fun actually. With the HSI dialed down to 5 Nm you can use it to help you "set the crab" - not perfect but I got to the waypoints. The one thing I noticed is that 60 kts seems to be the "magic number" - when the wind speed went to less than 60 (57 kts) everything went back to normal…I switched back to LNAV …the fun hand flying stopped and I was back to sipping my coffee and monitoring the instruments. OK so it says I need to put my name in my signature or this will get delete–fair enough. Not sure which will match PMDG's records (I think I may have used my wife's credit card) We'll go with: William Kotheimer…I can't imagine there are any other with that last name
  3. Thanks Jim, A very helpful and timely response - much appreciated. Based in the links you provided and the gentle suggestion that I get smarter on codecs  (which I have done) - I think I have narrowed it down to the actual helicopter. No other aircraft are so affected at all. All my drivers are up to date (plus the PC is just a few weeks old) - everything on the hardware and hardware-to-OS integration seems good. My train of thought right now is that the helo in question starts up in an improper state with regard to the radios. Other Nemeth helos start with the radios visibly off. Radios off=no transmission/reception. Turn them on - no problems. This one starts with them visibly on. However, if there is a mismatch between in the code--part of it thinks the radio is on, only to be overridden by the part that thinks its off--this may start "cycles" between on-off - which may explain the symptoms. I can think off a couple of corrective measure to try - starting off with a default C172 and then switch usually cures ailments such as this. Bottom Line, thanks to your help, I'll be bugging Nemeth support from here on in. Cheers!
  4. Hi Jim, Didn't mean to drag up "accent" posts however, this one fit my difficulty pretty close. Regret if I broke a forum protocol. My sincere apologies. Yes, I did a "Matt Fox" search and came up with many, many tweaks as you mentioned. Unfortunately none of them were the one I was looking for, so this was my last resort. I have a brand new factory install of FSX Golden Edition which to my knowledge includes both SP's, Acceleration, etc. My problem is with a Nementh MD-900. The symptoms are practically the same as what was described in the original post with one exception, I cannot hear ATC while it is doing its "repeating thing". Essentially I get the ATC line - both my transmission and the ATC reply - repeated for each word in the transmission. My purpose was to follow two troubleshooting paths. Obviously a study of this MD900 install is called for an is first on my agenda today. At the same time I was hoping to learn more of the is "Matt Fox" fix as this is not the first time I have had this issue with other aircraft. On those occasions I simply shut down/restarted FSX and it went away - chalked it up to gremlins. This was the first time I could consistently reproduce the problem. All that said, I will certainly follow your sage advice and start a new thread if my work on the MD900 doesn't fix it. Thanks for your response and guidance! Cheers, Will "Hangar 14"
  5. OK I know this an old thread (2006! When ACES still lived) - however, it is a problem I have - albeit with only one helicopter. Still, I pace good $ for that helicopter and would like to flit it. I noticed JJCarter (listed as an inactive member) stated: "Cheers to Matt Fox!Winner of finding the most hidden solution of all the weird and wonderful things that challenge us in FSX!" Great - except I cannot find any post or another thread where Matt Fox's fix is listed. . and I did a big search. I realize that the thread was probably before the terrible hack attack against Avsim , so I'm hoping that this solution wasn't part of what was lost. Any thoughts? R/ Hangar 14
  6. Well, since the doors swing up, it would be easier to read when the door is open...but if the door was open, why would you need to smash the window...hmmmm. Maybe it's for the people inside to read--they would be looking down and thus it would be right side up for them...but one would think they'd be able to figure out to break the glass all on their own...they wouldn't need to read instructions... Nope I've got to agree with the whole airplane upside down premiss put forward above. Hangar 14 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. Wow, you are good. On this plane I can barely "fly the numbers" plus or minus 10 % in the pattern. Any more concentration on the engine gauges an I'm sure to "plant it" ... if I had a nickel for every go around.... Part of the problem is I'm right handed trying to use a left side stick. My new goal isn't to be able to fly it as well as you can. Warm Regards, Hangar 14 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. Can I safely assume that since I bought this plane after the SP date, all changes were incorporated in the down load...even it I purchased it from a different retailer? R/ Hangar14 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  9. Hi, I didn't see this in the spread sheet of bugs/fixes - I'm having the same problems. Is there a fix I missed? R/ Hangar 14
