  1. To be frank, Vatsim controllers are often anal and up themselves, in real life, (i'm talking from experience not internet knowledge) there is far more give and take, common sense and appreciation for the fact that the guy flying the plane may have more important things to worry about than reciting CAP 413 verbatim Some of these kids reporting people on VATSIM would sh1te their pants if they had to handle bumpy, marginal VMC in a Cub in real life
  2. Not much Interest then, but Sierra, Q400, please drop me a PM if you ever fancy some VFR flying around the UK and anyone else too, but please not unless you are interested in UK flights, there are allready many groups flying GA in the rest of the world, (I enjoy that too, but there is a massive gap to fill re: UK general aviation) Cheers for now
  3. I dont think you need training to be a feckless control freak , just a badge
  4. Cheers for the reply Dave,Gamespy is abandoned, Direct connect is still VERY usable. When Flying in UK I use the horizon Scenery and UK 2000 airports too.
  5. Can anyone point me to an active UK based group flying Light GA Aircraft? (FSX Direct connect not VATSIM or IVAO)
  6. Many people fly fly for less than £30 an hour you said....... Sorry but you didnt quite reach that figure even with your Maverick @ 100hrs (this is at the top end for hours microlight class pilot in the UK has been able to fly per annum in the last few years, given the weather) and cheap hangarage edit P.S. You also didnt factor any maintenance costs into your £36 ph figure for your Maverick ............so definately not a figure attained by "Many People" I dont know anyone who keeps a Zenair outside, though Ive no experience of Savanahs Anyway, as I said, its not realistic, Ive not met anyone flying for that price (though its undoubtbly possible with SSDR if you dont factor in purchase price) no way are many people achieving this flying at £30 AN HOUR in the UK.
  7. I own a Skyranger Microlight which has to be near the cheapest way of flying..... it costs about £17 an hour on fuel, £140 a month Hangarage, about £300 a year to pay BMAA membership and get permitted £670 a year insurance and anything between £500-£2000 to maintain (varies year to year) based on 50 hrs a year flying That comes out to an average £59 an hour.......Ive probably forgotten some other costs so this is a minimum figure I would love to know what all these people flying in the UK for less than £30 an hour are flying Oh and of course I had to pay £20,000 to buy it in the first place (second hand), dont really know how much its depreciating year to year but its definately not a profitable investment:) )
  8. Got my PPL in 2009, Hard to get enough hours in as the weather here in the UK has been absolute garbage for the last few years, we havnt had a decent summer since 2007
