July 29, 201411 yr Commercial Member Most of us know that real world pilots and controllers can get a little snuffy from time to time... and everyone who flys on a realism based flight sim network can certainly attest to this. The link below is a real world Delta pilot who had a little more than usual to say to an Atlanta controller. Good reminder for those of us who often seek (or demand) perfection from controllers and pilots on VATSIM. We should all strive for that, but falling short shouldn't be a death sentence, though emulating Hogan's Goat is another story... http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2014/07/28/captain-happy-snappy-air-traffic-controller/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058 Fly Happy! July 30, 201411 yr Hey Dave, I believe we have crossed paths over on Sunskyjet/KPHL for FSX forum some time back, hello! I've been on flightsim burnout this year, but I still like to check in now and then here on the ole AVSIM forums. I saw this story on CNN recently. Reminds me of some of the odd and funny exchanges between ATC and pilots I've heard over the years, including a real grouch who didn't take too kindly to a particularly light hearted, yet very competent, tower controller at KBOS, "Boston John". There is a reason for the KATL controller to take this situation seriously, I do remember hearing of some Delta 767 landing on a taxiway instead of the assigned runway (27r) around 2009 or so at KATL. So more power to the controller for doing his job. Hasta LaVista! A.J. Domingo
July 30, 201411 yr I like how the Delta flight was taxing however the title at the top says "Delta pilot lands on the wrong runway". Samuel Scully

Yeah, I saw that too, and figured, typical mistake from one of the millions of news outlets out there feeding us "news". But to be fair, the website notes their mistake at the bottom of the page. July 30, 201411 yr So...captain happy is a thing in aviation? The pilot should probably get reprimanded for that. You CAN NOT distract the ATC for one second. Distraction of the ATC has caused a lot of deaths. I'm basing this on what I heard. They obviously didn't show the whole conversation. August 4, 201411 yr To be frank, Vatsim controllers are often anal and up themselves, in real life, (i'm talking from experience not internet knowledge) there is far more give and take, common sense and appreciation for the fact that the guy flying the plane may have more important things to worry about than reciting CAP 413 verbatim Some of these kids reporting people on VATSIM would sh1te their pants if they had to handle bumpy, marginal VMC in a Cub in real life
