You know, I read thru all this and there is a lot of good points that I agree with. I compliment JV a lot for his communication over there and the constant updates they provide. NOBODY does that like they do. If you have tech issues, they get you fixed right up. And yet I do get a little, i don't know, disappointed I guess, when JV himself says he just does not care what we think of this style. Maybe that is a me problem -- because damn I want to like the guy. Most the time I do like him, in fact. And in fact I have seen him admit to being a bit hotheaded (he even apologized once). And yes folks, you CAN post some criticism as long as you do it positively -- I've done it -- so let's not go overboard on the censure thing (though I am sure some of that goes on). He's human, and that is something I appreciate over there is that, hey we get to interract with a real person. Sure I wish he would lose the arrogrant indifference act, but I'll live with it. I just take the good with the not-so-good. There is helluva lot more good coming out of that guy. But at the end of the day, you aren't paying $100 to go a freaking date with John Venema, you are buying his product. And they make damn good products. So for those that seem to think it is somehow noble to just chuck all your FSX addons out of the window because JV was arrogrant or rude or told some troll to pack sand, well -- that's just pointless and juvenile. You paid for the product, and the product is good. Now you think you need to punish yourself? Because you cannot be so stupid as to think that you are really causing some kind of economic penalty to guy's company. JV I love ya buddy. Tell Mathijs we said hi. Now get back to work.

I think if your post had been the first on that subject, it might have resulted in reasonable discourse. But it came about 3 minutes after Noels, and my gut feeling is that JV just thought you were piling on. Wow, just read the other thread by deerhunter guy. That guy is just precious. I think John is now maybe regretting in some small way that he even released FTX Global textures without the full Open LC coverage. He probably figured that most semi-serious flight simmers would graps the meaning and get it. Most did, I suspect, but this thing got really big really fast, and the hype probably attracted some of the less avid simmers that did read it thru, and more than a couple redneck idiots that just got excited to see all the pretty colors and nifty screenshots.

Well he closed your thread as well. He should not have done so, you went out of your way to be objective and even postive about it. There is a problem, and the best way to deal with that is to engage it head on and find a solution -- even if that is a patch or a fix or whatever. Now that does not mean he has to put up with garbage like the OP came with -- come on. Noel went nuts, and he was wrong. But also, read down the thread and see that other 'fellow' from Tasmania (I have other names for him) that decides it would be wise to make generalizations about Americans based on this one guys' post. 2 days later and I'd still like to bust him in the mouth for that. JV is quite capable of admitting at times that he is wrong, that he has overreacted to some inane knucklehead. He's a big boy, give him some credit. I don't think I'd have locked those 2 threads, but geez, how much sleep you think those guys have gotten this week? We can cut him some slack I think.
