Aircraft configurations and suggestions for FireFighter X
Hello, For the Tracker lovers saddened by the end of the career of the French TurboFirecats, I have just released an upgrade package for Milton Shupe's S2T Civilian Tracker that fixes a few discrepencies and includes the interface with both FFX and Pelicandrome4FFX. Check it out! http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=34&id=27671

Sorry, I got carried away : the link above is for the PAD BAe-146 addon, not the QW one.

Aircraft configurations and suggestions for FireFighter X
Thanks for the heads up ahunterG95! I wish I could save a bit of time to work on my Wildcat livery and FFX-compatible Simplex belly tank for Cerasim’s 412EP... Anyway, here is the Neptune Tanker 40 livery for QW Bae-146 I was seaking about earlier (provided to you through Simulated AirTankers Operations) : http://www.fsx-downloads.com/aircraft/tanker_40.htm

Hello! Regarding the BAe146, there is Neptune Tanker 40 livery around, but it has not been published so far. I'm in touch with its creator in order to upload it on Flight1 file library.

Performance issue with FS9 port-overs to FSX
Hello ! I have just purchased FireFighterX, for which I have installed Milton Shupe’s TurboFirecat. Surprisingly I am getting below-par FPS compared to the planes I usually fly (30 fps with my beloved Virtavia BN-2 above OrbX PNW). This add-on is a FS9 port-over, and now I remember I had the same issue with his Dash7. So I’d like to ask if such performance drops are usual with port-overs? Is there a trick to prevent them? Any help will be appreciated!

[Archeology] Benefits of quad core over dual core
kekelekou replied to kekelekou's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHello Djang0! I set my Q9550S yesterday at 3,4GHz which yields quite high temperatures (stable at 72/73°C, peaks to 75°C with room temperature of 30°C). The aircooling is the generic Intel one. I know I could buy a better one along a larger PSU to achieve higher freqs, but the challenge was to get the best of what I have now. I want to fly now, I am tired of waiting for a part, or tweaking all night long.

[Archeology] Benefits of quad core over dual core
kekelekou replied to kekelekou's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcWell, Quad received and installed. First tests show no FPS improvements, but a rather smoother sim. The load sharing among the cores seems to do the trick! I'm writing this down so that it might helpful to anyone in the same situation...

[Archeology] Benefits of quad core over dual core
Hello everyone! I'm considering updating the CPU on my good ol'computer (see prehistorical specs below), which mobo features a LGA775 socket. Please bear in mind that I DO NOT want to buy a new, more up-to-date rig. It seems that the best I can do is changing the E6550 dual core (OCed at 3Hz) for a Q9650 quad core at 3GHz too. I'm wondering what kind of benefits I could expect from the 2 additional cores : - Windows sent to core 0 through AffinityMask=14, 3 free cores for FSX, hence a smoother sim? - Same freq = same amount of calculations per second, so no change in FPS? Thanks a lot for your help and advise! TwinOtter Ext vs BN-2, FPS-wise
Thanks to all of you for your kind feedback. Then there's no much of an fps improvement to be expected from switching from the Islander to the Twotter, so I guess I'll stick to my good ol'BN-2 for a while, and slide down the sliders a bit. Even if the TwinOtter's VC seems to look gorgeous. So little time, so little money ^_^ Thank you again.

TwinOtter Ext vs BN-2, FPS-wise
Hello everyone ! Due to an aging PC, I am a late convert to slow GA VFR and bush-flying. Now my flight speed is on par my chipset! I have fun with both the Cessna 150 Ti’Bush freeware and Flight1 BN-2 Islander. I can get a steady 24fps with reasonable autogen and textures quality. I am considering buying OrbX’s PNW scenery (any bush pilot would), so I have installed the demo which is gorgeous. But with a fps hit while flying the BN-2, what's a tad annoying... The TwinOtter Extended from Aerosoft ranked second after the Islander in my short-list, so now I am wondering if this add-on is lighter on FPS than its British counterpart. Has any of you any idea about compared performance of these models? Thanks! Aliasing issue in VC
Hmm, that's possible, I'll have to check when back home. Thanks for the tip spirit!

Aliasing issue in VC
Hello! I have just moved from FSX to P3Dv2.3 in order to get a smoother sim. My PC is way below the state of the art, but I have found settings to get 35fps min. Of course the result would be unacceptable for many in terms of autogen and textures, but it's OK for me. But I still have an aliasing problem with VC and instruments. The "outer" world is fine, but the needles and the instruments' textures in most planes' VC are a jaggies fest! This happens with both native (Carenado Bonanza, Extra 300S) or add-ons (QualityWIngs Avro RJ or Area51 U-2S). Quite surprisingly, the native Maule is perfectly fine! Does anyone have an idea about what could cause such issue? Here are my settings : E6550 CORE 2 [email protected], MSI P35 NEO2-FR, GTX650 1GB DDR5, TWINX CORSAIR DDR2 4X1024MO, SAMSUNG T133 300GB 7200RPM 8MB, LG L1954TQ-PF 19” 1280x1024x32, GREEN POWER 400W OS : Windows 7 64 bit + P3Dv2.3 Graphics settings in game : FXAA off, MSAA 8 samples, Anisotropic 8x, Textures resolution : 1024x1024, no tessellation, native resolution in full screen, No vsync, unlimited frame rate. Nvidia inspector : All application-controlled. Lod bias clamped. No Vsync. (I'm not home, but I'll post screenshots as soon as possible)
