February 17, 20179 yr Commercial Member Hi @ll, This thread has been created to collect suggestions for and configurations of suitable fire fighting aircraft. Please post good finds and configs here for all aerial fire fighters to enjoy. But please remember - FireFighter X can make use of every aircraft that you have in your hangar. No need to limit yourself to those that actually have a fire fighter livery or smoke effect - both are not required. Best regards and many thanks Freeware: Canadiar CL-215: FlyAwaySimulation https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/4886/fsx-canadair-cl215-v3/ Recommended settings: Tank capacity: 12000 lb Single drop 6000 lb & duration 3 seconds or 12000 lb & duration 6 seconds Scoop time over water: 12 seconds Fuel: 30% in left&right tank, external tanks empty DC10 "10 Tanker": FlyAwaySimulation & repaint https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1815/fsx-swissair-douglas-dc-10-30-er-pack/ http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/tanker-910-repaint.8143/ Recommended settings: Tank capacity: 48000 lb Single drop 12000 lb & duration 2 seconds or 24000 lb & duration 4 seconds or 48000 lb & duration 8 seconds Scoop time over water: 0 seconds Fuel: 100% in left&right tank, center tanks empty Conair Turbo Firecat: Simviation http://simviation.com/1/browse-Props-62-22 Grumman S2Turbo CDF Tanker FSX Package Recommended settings: Tank capacity: 10000 lb Single drop 5000 lb & duration 3 seconds or 10000 lb & duration 6 seconds Scoop time over water: 0 seconds Fuel: 100% in left&right tank, external tanks empty Payware Milviz/Nemeth S-64 You will have to add a payload station for the tank, use the FFX payload manager for this Recommended settings: Tank capacity: 20.000 lb Single drop size: same as the smallest unit size (150) Duration of drop: 0.1 - 0.5 (these two settings will make the water "spray" down as long as you press the trigger) Adjust for height: -20 Majestic Q400 Recommended settings: Tanksize: 19600 lbs drop size/timing: as convenient Be careful though, this thing is quite difficult to fly when loaded up like this. Due to the external FDE the loading sometimes results in somersaulting of the plane - just restart the sim if this happens. QualityWings RJ/146 collection Works right out of the box TankSize: 22.000 lbs This one is really nice to fly and quite the challenge due to the speed of the thing. Keep that FMC turned off :o) Virtavia Martin Mars Although it has a large carrying capacity, the distribution of the payload stations is less then ideal - if the FireFighter X loads it up, the aircraft falls on it's nose. Here is a suggested solution - change the payload stations in the aircraft.cfg / section "[weight_and_balance]" to look like this: max_number_of_stations = 3 station_load.0 = 200.000000, -17.740000, 2.000000, -2.020000, Crew station_load.1 = 200.000000, -17.740000, 2.000000, -2.020000, Crew station_load.2 = 5.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, Center Load //station_load.1 = 200.000000, 33.560000, -2.080000, -3.960000, Station 1 //station_load.2 = 200.000000, 29.360000, -0.820000, -4.430000, Station 2 //station_load.3 = 200.000000, 39.860000, -0.190000, -7.870000, Station 3 //station_load.4 = 200.000000, 33.520000, 1.900000, -4.030000, Station 4 //station_load.5 = 200.000000, 32.270000, 2.730000, -8.960000, Station 5 //station_load.6 = 200.000000, -17.740000, 2.000000, -2.020000, Crew //station_load.7 = 200.000000, 32.290000, 2.350000, -8.910000, Station 7 //station_load.8 = 200.000000, 29.360000, -2.770000, -1.750000, Station 8 LORBY-SI
February 19, 20179 yr Thanks for that! The hunt for the perfect airtanker for P3D begins. EDIT: The CL-215 doesn't work for me in P3D because the virtual cockpit windows are opaque. Pity.
February 19, 20179 yr Author Commercial Member EDIT: The CL-215 doesn't work for me in P3D because the virtual cockpit windows are opaque. Pity. On the Lorby-SI website you will find a texture fix for those windows (in the DOWNLOADS section). This should clear them up in P3D or FSX DX10. LORBY-SI
May 13, 20179 yr Aaron Ingebo has done five of the MAFFS C-130s for the Captain Sim C-130. (Search for "MAFFS" here at AVSIM.) The MAFFS carries 3,000 gallons, so you need to modify the aircraft.cfg weight and balance section to give yourself the right amount of water/retardant: Figuring that water runs 8.3 pounds/gallon, the cfg gets modified as follows: station_load.5="24900, 0, 0, -11, Cargo" For retardant, which seems to weigh about 10 pounds per gallon (correct me if I'm wrong), use this line: station_load.5="30000, 0, 0, -11, Cargo" Reload times for the MAFFS are about 15 minutes, so set the reload time to 900 seconds. Drop rate for the MAFFS is 700 gals/second, so for water, set the drop rate to 5800 pounds/second and the time to 1.1 (25%), 2.1 (50%), 3.2 (75%), and 4.3 (100%). May 13, 20179 yr Author Commercial Member Hello Kurt, many thanks for the find! For the record: instead of editing the aircraft.cfg you can use the Payload Manager dialog in FireFighter X. It does the same thing (=altering the aircraft.cfg), but handling it may be more convenient. Plus you can specify, which payload stations actually should carry retardant. Best regards LORBY-SI
August 18, 20178 yr Hello! Regarding the BAe146, there is Neptune Tanker 40 livery around, but it has not been published so far. I'm in touch with its creator in order to upload it on Flight1 file library.
November 1, 20178 yr Hi, I just bought Fifefighter X, this is very cool, thanks for your work ! I also bought the CL-215 from R. Laborie (payware), but I have some questions : - Is there a way to synchronize the CL-215 procedure and animation for water dropping with FFX ? For the moment I just found a self made solution with FSUIPC : when I press a button, the action is the SHIFT + D from FFX and when I release it does the drop from the CL-215. I don't think this is possible, but is there a solution to directly use the CL-215 dropping function work in FFX ? - Do you have teh configuration to use with this add on ? I think we can add 11 000 lbs, but I don't know how to place the station load - Maybe this is a question for R Laborie, but maybe you can help : when I take water in a lake, it is very difficult to take off after, I understand that the weight is heavier but I am in the limit (only 30% of fuel). Is there something I missed ? Maybe the load is counted 2 times because in the plane there is also a gauge for the water ?... - When I add a AI with the CL-215, is it with 11 000 lbs of water ? Because I found it is very difficult to stop the fire with the AI Thanks for your help !
November 2, 20178 yr Author Commercial Member Hi, I am sorry, but I did not use this particular addon aircraft yet, so I can only give you generalized advice: 1. Sync the drops: only if the addon is using the "smoke toggle" switch. You can tell FFX to use that instead of Shift+D on the drop control panel (set visual density to 0 if you do, so the FFX own drop effect will not show. 2. I would add 12000 lb at position 0,0,0 using FFXs payload manager dialog 3. I don't know if R.Laborie built his own weight gauge into the model - it is possible. You can check the load of the aircraft in the sim, with the fuel&payload dialog. It should be obvious if the plane is overweight. 4. It is difficult, almost impossible I think. AI is there to support you, not to be used on their own. AI don't have a tank, they never run out of retardant. Maybe someone who has this aircraft all set up will jump in? Best regards LORBY-SI
November 3, 20178 yr Just a quick heads up for anyone who is looking for a decent Firefighting aeroplane, the just-released Flight Replicas Douglas DC-4/C-54 Skymaster/ATL98 Carvair, has a firefighting variant of Aero Union's C-54G, N2742G. The VC in this variant has a firefighting panel which includes a system master switch plus numerous system status lights and the VC for this variant also gains a payload drop button on the yoke. There are two versions available, one for FSX/SE and one for P3D V4.1. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 21, 20187 yr Here is a beauty for you all, it is a S-70 Firehawk mod for the Payware Cerasim UH-60L. Naturally, being a Firehawk it comes with it's own tank and snorkel! Note: the interior is pretty much empty but there is a fix if you look through one of the discussions. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/110823-CeraSim-Firehawk-Mod-V1-zip
July 17, 20187 yr Thanks for the heads up ahunterG95! I wish I could save a bit of time to work on my Wildcat livery and FFX-compatible Simplex belly tank for Cerasim’s 412EP... Anyway, here is the Neptune Tanker 40 livery for QW Bae-146 I was seaking about earlier (provided to you through Simulated AirTankers Operations) : http://www.fsx-downloads.com/aircraft/tanker_40.htm
July 19, 20187 yr Sorry, I got carried away : the link above is for the PAD BAe-146 addon, not the QW one.

June 19, 20196 yr Hello my virtual aerial Firefighting brothers (sisters)... I'm stocking my hanger and was curious what YOU have in your firefighting arsenal with regards to A/C. If you can provide links, that would be GREAT! Thanks, Matt
June 20, 20196 yr As I continue my search for tanker A/C. I came across this one - a repaint of the Aerosoft Twin Otter DH-6, which is used as a jump plane and transport. http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/3306-aerosoft-twinotter-extended-us-forest-service-3b-c-3b-p/
