VC Shadows - Aerosoft Airbus A318-321
Hi Steve, thanks for the quick answer. And I have to apologize for bothering you. Something must have happened with my DX10SF-Installation. After a complete de- and re-installation everything works fine e. g. I have no more problems with VC shadows in the Aerosoft Airbus A318 to A321. Sorry...... Regards, Rolf

VC Shadows - Aerosoft Airbus A318-321
Hi, up to version 2.3 I had no problems with VC shadows in the Aerosoft Airbusses. Updating to version 2.4 and now to 2.5 there are still problems: Since version 2.4 I had to change in the DEBUG section to "Shadows Version 4" to get VC shadows in the Aerosoft A318 to A321. When do think this will be fixed? Since version 2.4 and using "Shadows Version 4" I think the shadows are not so clear like in the previous versions. The border between shadow and sun is much more blurry. Regards, Rolf

Taxiway boundary blue lights at LOWW
First I tried installing the light field at LOWW - but no change....... The same with disabling the General Shader in the DX10 Controller - no change..... Yes I am using Sweet FX So, maybe I have to live with it....... Regards, Hanse

Taxiway boundary blue lights at LOWW
Steve, yes I did ........I really do not know what do e.g. I am able to taxi at night only with "Landing Lights" on otherwise I do not see anything. But what I recognized is that if the airplane lights directly "shine" on the blue taxiway lights they are "blooming" e. g. are exactly what is required and then they look like the ones at LOWI. Taxiway boundary blue lights at LOWW
I do compare the ones at LOWW with the lights at LOWI..... The difference you can see in the pictures below: LOWW - https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=FF01B36902F93518!304&authkey=!ALt3WljTNH-E3W8&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg LOWI - https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=FF01B36902F93518!305&authkey=!AO-eVFoV-RkilxU&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg So may question stays: Is there any way to "improve" those taxiway lights at LOWW? Regards, Hanse

Taxiway boundary blue lights at LOWW
Hi, I do not see any "blue" lights on your screenshot at all....... but how do you manage to integrate screenshots into your message? In other forums I just can attach jpg-files and then those are displayed as part of the message. I tested Steve's new file and my problems at LOWI are now solved with that new file...... Taxiway boundary blue lights at LOWW
Using DX10 SF I have nearly no more (or not visible) blue lights at the taxiway boundaries (left and right) at FlyTampa's Vienna = LOWW, I tried it also setting the Legacy Shader completely to the left, but with no change. In DX9 the lights are to be seen. Is there anyway how to "improve" those lights in DX10 - because on other airports like LOWI they look great in DX10. Regards, Hanse

Cockpit shadows in the AXE
Hi Carsten, I finally found the solution and added the VC shadows to the AXE. Please see Steves DX10 SF Manual on page 71 where it is explained how to do it. But please remember that in addition to this fix the respective option in FSX / Settings / Aircraft and "Aircraft casts shadows on itself" as well as in the DX10 SF Controller / General Shader "HD Jet Shadows" must be enabled. still problems with runway and papilights
Steve, maybe we have a misunderstanding about the type of lights we are talking about. I was always talking about the 4 white or red lights left and right of the runway which should be on during a day approach and to be seen app. 10 NM before the runway. For LOWI on my system this is not the case. I only see those 8 lights during a day approach after reloading the scenery library. I never had any problems with these or the other LOWI runway lights during a night approach....... Regards, Hanse

VC shadows in the NGX
Rob, I am really sorry because I mixed up something. Because in this thread "DX ToolBox" was mentioned I googled it and found a software with this name...... But then I carefully read all comments on this thread again and recognized that I made big mistake. In the meantime I used Steves DX10ToolBox to enable the VC shadows in the AXE and the VC looks great. The only thing what disturbs me alittle bit is that it interfers with the aircraft lights e.g. having the lights on the "sunny" areas are "blinking"..... Regards, Hanse

VC shadows in the NGX
Rob, this is quite interesting e. g. that DX ToolBar make VC shadows work in the AXE. But could you please tell us from where to download the software and instructions you mentioned? I downloaded the software but I do not know how to handle it...... sorry. Regards, Hanse

still problems with runway and papilights
Quote: C). Attach invisible lights to the plane visible from the cockpit - such a light is included fx_dx10shield.fx - but it's very tricky to align and has to be done per aircraft. 1. As this is the case only at a few airports (and you do not know which ones when starting a flight) I think it would be much easier to "adopt" the plane than always to go to the destination airport first. In my case (e. g. LOWI) also this proposal did not work ....... 2. If setting the AI-Traffic to 100% is not suitable for a user (doing so I had no problems to see the lights at LOWI during a day approach) then I believe the only solution is to attach the lights to the plane. Could you please give us a short instruction where to save the fx_dx10shield.fx file in the aircraft folder and how to "align" it to the aircraft? Thanks.

AMD HD7900 and DX10 SF -Experience-
I bought the DX10 SF several weeks ago and since then I tried to get my FSX running without "artifacts" and " spikes" because I liked the program and it results. I read and followed all the availlable advices / documents. But it took me more than 50 flights and a lot of time to find the right settings for my system with a HD7900. Pauls guide "DX10 Notes" is an excellent document but for me as a normal user to much technical and leaving too many options e. g. for my problem / hardware it is not specific enough. . I tried to summarize my experience and the results in the following document. This may help any new user of DX10 SF with a HD7900 graphic card to start with. Maybe other users with other AMD cards will follow and so some time a table of recommendation can be created e.g. which settings work flawlessness with which card. The document can be downloaded using the following link: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=FF01B36902F93518!301&authkey=!AJc3ALO-PyQjIFY&ithint=folder%2c.ZIP But I was not satisfied with the result of the "possible" settings and therefore in the mean time I changed to a NVidia GTX780 which I should have done much earlier. No problems to install and make the necessary settings.which took me less than one hour. I could "increase" most of the FSX settings without getting artifacts and spikes and a big drop on FPS. Now I am completely satisfied with DX10 SF.

AA Setting in DX10 Controller V 2.0
After installing V 2.0 I recognized that the "DX10 AA Setting" do not work properly anymore e.g. after setting the value to 4x and then exiting the controller and opening it again the value is changed e.g. displaying instead of 4x = 8x. Because I thought that I made an installation mistake I deinstalled the version (after uninstalling the libraries first and then using MS Windows program functionality). Also I deleted the two lines "MultiSamplesPerPixel" and "MultiSampleQuality" in the fsx.cfg. The I reinstalled V 2.0 again. Setting again the AA value to 4x and then looking into the fsx.cfg I recognized that there was only one line added e.g. "MultiSamplesPerPixel" = 8. But the other value "MultiSampleQuality" was missing even that Paul wrote in his "DX10 Notes" that both values automatically would be added using the program. And the behaviour of the controller was the same as mentioned before. How I can set the value to 4x and to be sure that this value is used? Regards, Hanse

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi, I just want to let you know that the RadeonPro Support confirmed (on my additional request) that the problem with FSX (RadeonPro does not start automatically with opening FSX) is not based on Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) or on the setup of OS and FSX on different drives but really on FSX. This means if RadeonPro is used with FSX it has be started manually. So Paul should add this to his instructions for the use of DX10 Scenery Fixer with AMD Radeon cards..... Rolf

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi, in the meantime I got the answer from the "RadeonPro Support" as follows: "Sorry, it's not possible that PadeonPro starts automatically with FSX. You must have RadeonPro running previously in order to detect your game". I do not know if this answer is based on Windows 7 64-bit or on my set up with Windows running on C:\ and FSX on D:\. But to be sure that RadeonPro is really running I suggest to enable some OSD values (because then you are sure). I found out that even then sometimes RadeonPro did not start automatically with FSX. But if it is running I do have no more problems with DX10 e.g. no more spikes or artefacts. I even use the latest driver but maybe this is related to my settings used in fsx.cfg. Regards, Rolf

FlyTampa Vienna X and Landing Lights
Hi Marek, Do you use FSX or Prepar3D V2? Sorry for FSX but please see the link below: http://www.flytampa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6483&start=14. The solution at least works with DX10...... even that you cannot switch it on during daylight like the original version (NAV 2 = 113.00). So if you have a better solution then please tell me where I can get this update. I bought it from Aerosoft and the actual version 2,5 I already installed. Regards, Rolf

FlyTampa Vienna X and Landing Lights
Hi, one of my favorite airports is FlyTampa's Vienna X. But using DX10 Scenery Fixer I do have no landing lights (white/red three lights left of each runway). Looking into the FlyTampa Forum other users also mentioned this and got the answer: Vienna X is not compatible to DX10 and we do not intend to fix this problem as we see no future for FSX with DX10. But until now this is the only real problem I have with DX10 and Vienna X. Is there any way to fix this problem in DX10 Scenery Fixer because there is the option for "compatible lights"? Can't you include those lights into the feature. Or is there a way to replace those lights in Vienna X with the FSX standard lights? Thanks. Regards, Rolf

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi Paul, RadeonPro really does not start automatically when starting FSX even that both programs are set to "Open as Administrator". Maybe it is a setup problem of my Windows 7 64-bit system because RadeonPro runs on C:\drive whereas FSX is installed on D:\. I already contacted RadeonPro support and as soon as I get an answer I will let you know. Regards, Rolf

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi Paul, first I would like to thank you for your help and the new fxs.cfg. I installed it and nothing changed e. g. still the same behaviour (spikes, artefacts and FSX crahes). Looking through the documentation you mentioned there are some small differences in the settings (VISUAL - AA etc.) you and Charles are proposing. Maybe those documents should be aligned. But those are not the solution to my problem - were just a little bit confusing. But what is mssing in those papers is a statement that RadeonPro should always run if you start FSX (can be ticked in the basic program settings). My problem was that I thought after making those proposed settings they were saved somewhere and automatically used if I start FSX. So I still had the same problems like mentioned above. When I recognized this (unfortunately very late) and started RadeonPro before starting FSX all my problems were gone - with DX10 8xAA and all shaders ticked as well as enhanced FSX settings. Now I am happy and more than satisfied with the result. Thanks again...... I hope this small tip will help other not so experienced users like me. Regards, Rolf

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi Paul, more and more I believe that my problems with DX10 have something to do with my graphic card or the system setup. I installed DX10 Scenery Fixer today on my old laptop and everything worked well (without modifying the graphic card setup e. g. just installed the program). Then I copied the fsx.cfg to my current system (with some minor adaptations) and had the same effect like previously. Also using another e. g. lower display resolution changed anything........ DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi Paul, I forgot to mention because maybe it is relevant: Because I have three disks Windows 7 is running from C.\ and FSX from D:\ drive ....... I also recognized that if starting DX10 without AA the problems start much later whereas with 8xx the FSX crashes already during the initial loading...... Regards, Rolf

DX10 Scenery Fixer and AMD Radeon HD7900
Hi, I bought the commercial version and I like the DX10 Scenery Fixer e. g. the graphical improvements as well as the additional FPS I get. But I have a big problem: Even after doing everything what is mentioned in this forum (following the advices how to set up the AMD Radeon HD7900 using RadeionPro and configure the FSX as well as the fsx.cfg) I am getting spikes, artefacts and complete FSX crashes using DX10. I tried every possible for the last couple of days but only with minor change. Those problems occur after a certain period of time if no AA is used and if AA is set to on sometimes the FSX already crashes after the initial loading of a flight. I am completely frustrated with DX10 because with DX9 my FSX works perfect. Is there somebody who can help me respectively solved similar problems already? Otherwise I am giving up, switch back to DX9 and delete the DX10 Scenery Fixer - then wasted money. Attached please find my fsx.cfg...... Maybe the problem lays there? Thanks Rolf FSX.pdf
