  1. So what should I buy? Actually I thought my system would be quite good already, but that's not true apparently. I wouldn't mind not getting 40+ frames like some do, especially since I'm running the full FTX stack. But 8-15FPS is awful.
  2. I think so, yes. Whatever I do these are the max GPU stats reported by NVInspector over a few hours: GPU Load 23% Fan 41% Temp 47°C looks all very cool and without much load for me. All 3 CPU cores are on 100% though, so I think I'm CPU limited.
  3. No Aero does work always, no need to change anything about it. That's not the problem either. And updateing Intel graphic drivers shouldn't do anything while the integrated GPU is deactivated, maybe you updated the chipset drivers and fixed something else. Yeah, that's my problem. I know it's hard to grasp but I have a reversed effect where full screen is much slower than windowed which is illogical. And I'd like to fix that. Sorry for "shouting" but I feel that I'm not really getting through
  4. Tried it and it didn't help. Still max 15FPS as if Vsync 1/2 would be magically active although it isn't
  5. Thanks for the hint. Actually I'm running 8.1 and aero (or the remains of it aka the taskbar) stays on all the time. But I'll try to kill the window manager and see if it helps once I get home.
  6. PMDG clearly needs a donate button so that we can throw some extra money on them to hire more devs to get updates ready earlier to reduce the occurrences of these threads. Right? Seriously speaking: when I think about it I would actually be ready to pay a small amount (say 5-10$) if they actually port (all) the T7 features (WX, comp link, better performance (for me)) back to the NGX. You know bug fixes are (have to be imho) obligatory but they really put a lot of effort into those feature updates… Maybe I’m starting something we don’t really won’t though
  7. Well my point is that I get a 50% FPS drop when using full screen while everyone else seems to be experiencing the exact opposite. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it doesn't feel right. Anyway, as long as I get my quite stable 30FPS in windowed mode I'll pass on WideFS. Adding more networking usually creates more trouble in my experience. But if I'm losing FPS in full screen because I screwed up something I'd like to know and fix it ^_^
  8. Sorry to revive this, but I have a strange problem: Going to full screen costs me 50% of my FPS. In windowed mode I get the ~30FPS I’m locked into in Nvidia Inspector (with FlyTampa Vienna, 737NGX, on the ground, ASN, full FTX package incl. openLC and REX clouds). Once I hit Alt+Return it drops to ~15FPS. Call me crazy but I would actually prefer fullscreen mode… Tweaks I applied: I followed Kostas guide and applied the setting in Nvidia Inspector Ryan (from PMDG) suggested. Only difference: I have to run DX10 because DX9 simply does not work at all for me and never has (it always falls back to 1024x768 resolution whatever I do). VSync is off. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! EDIT: I think because of Performance mode my system doesn't show up so I'll post it here: i5-3570k@4,4, GTX780, 16GB RAM, everything FSX related on SSDs, 2560x1600 native res.
  9. It's not on sale currently. Steve made a fix for the FTX lights available for free (somewhere in the AVSIM archive) afaik.
  10. I got it in the meantime and beside of a few annoying problems with FSUIPC & EZDOK I'm loving my new setting Only thing that disturbs me a little is the desk mounting since I always crash my knee against it, will have to build something myself.
  11. Yes, basically I fully agree. But I wanted to try only one first (nr 1, nr 2, both cond levers on the third axis; flaps by keyboard) so that I only waste 53€ instead of 106€ if I'm not happy.
  12. Sorry, I was busy the last days. Since the CH quadrant is currently sold out at every shop which delivers to my city I ordered one Saitek quadrant now. If I'm happy with it I'll get a second one, if not I'll switch to CH once it becomes available again. Thanks for your input!
  13. I agree that I don't want another joystick since I have only aircrafts with yokes. So that's another another +1 for CH... It would be nice to have a poll for the Saitek/CH question since everything else I've seen so far is in the 500$+ == insanity range. Can I add a poll somehow or is that a moderator job here (have signed up only a few days ago, sorry if obvious)?
  14. Yes, throttle is first because the Q400 is unflyable with the mouse for me, pedals and yoke are next but will have to wait a few months
  15. Thanks for your input! Leaning toward one or two Saitek at the moment. I thought about pedals and yoke too, but since I have to buy a gtx780 now my budget is non existend already. Maybe I will complete the setup for Christmas (in case PMDG won't release for P3D until then which would cause heavy money drain)
  16. Since the CH Throttle Quadrant and two Saiteks are about the same price I’d like to know more about the differences ^_^ I now know that the CH product will work under Win8, so if anyone who reads this successfully operates the Saitek please tell me. What bothers me a little bit about the CH Throttle Quadrant is that the movement range of the throttles look much smaller, about 1/4 or so of the Saitek. Pictures may lie of course.
  17. Do they work under Win 8.1? I have to use it and can't downgrade to W7 (job related).
  18. It may surprise many of you, but I managed to fly with a single stone-old (10+ years) Sidewinder joystick until now ^_^ Anyway, I got myself the Majestic Q400 and while the small side throttle on my joystick was enough for the little bit of manual jet engine throttling I did it is simply not enough for the Dash. And whenever I try to move them with my mouse I regularly go from off to max and back again unable to hit a spot in between. So, I have to get a throttle. Since it seems I also have to replace my AMD with a NVIDIA please do not suggest me the most expensive and exclusive thing out there. I need a solid throttle that just works for the Dash and my 738 & T7  Thanks in advance!
  19. Steve asked them to remove it. It's not on sale currently, which is terrible because I would need it now to fix FTX. Just hoping that it will be back soon...
  20. Glad to hear I chose the right stuff so far  So I should ignore the “AVG WIND CMP” value PFPX gives me completely? In the meanwhile I accidentally ran into a video where Froogle works around an unplanned missing transition, understood what to do in such a case… I think  Will have a look at Ultimate Traffic and thank you very much for your response! Best, Markus
  21. Hello everyone! I am so glad that my five day wait period is finally over  I had a lot of fun with FSX a few years ago, even got myself the NGX when it released. However, soon after I had a lot of work to do, started studies etc. and flying slowly drifted out of my attention. Now I’m back and decided to go really serious this time. So starting with nothing but the fine NGX this is the selection of add-ons I gifted to myself so fair (I had some reason to celebrate, so yes it is a bit much at once): PMDG 737 NGX base pack PMDG 777 200LR/F Majestic Dash 8 Active Sky Next REX Direct FS Global FTX Edition FTX Global FTX Vector PFPX (without TOPCAT) EFB EZDok FS2Crew 737 NGX Pack I tried my very best to work through reviews, forum posts and manuals to find a good combination of add-ons which are able to work together. I hope I did somehow well so far since my (imho enthusiastic) starter budget is veeery stretched already as you might imagine ^_^ Well, I ran into some problems I wasn’t able to figure out myself. If it has been answered already and my search didn’t turn up the answer I do apologize in advance. What is the reason for entering a flight plan in Active Sky Next? I thought it would simply spit out the real weather around the globe anyway? Should I hook up PFPX with ASN or its default weather service? Is it somehow possible to see weather beside the winds on the PFPX map (like storms I’d like to put an offset around or something like that)? I tried to add a STAR to EFB en route, but it never picked up the aircraft when it entered the STAR (yes I activated the route). What did I do wrong? PFPX often crashes randomly without an error message (“… has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution…”). Tried Win7 comp mode and ran as admin, no help. Ideas? I don’t really understand how to feed the wind estimates PFPX spits out into the NGX FMC. Example: what does FL150 290/018 -7 mean (the “-7” part)? And how do I convert something like this: “TL005 KT” into an avg wind I can feed into the FMC (I saw a thread about different notations and templates but with no definite solution and I got a bit lost tbh)? Sometimes a transition is not available in the FMC, what can I do? Use a direct? Can I enter navpoints manually? How do I do that without overriding something else, like how do I insert a new “empty” leg? What do you suggest to create some AI traffic? I don’t care too much about real world flight plans, so that would be just a bonus. What I want to see are flights of real world airlines all around the globe. And not a too heavy cps impact of course ;) The last add-on I consider is some ATC since I’m far off flying online, that will take some months of training at least. I read a lot about this topic already, but found many different opinions, sometimes inconsistent feature descriptions etc. Whatever gets recommended it has to handle: AI traffic (see previous question), SIDs and STARs, update the weather data constantly and react appropriately. If I can’t talk to it that’s ok, though voice recognition is preferred to help me train myself. I don’t care too much about robotic sound if it works decently. If what I described is not available please tell me and I’ll simply continue without ATC for the foreseeable future. I would be really, really grateful if someone could help me out with these problems! Since I suppose it’s important here is my system: FSX only i5-3570k @ 4.2GHz 16GB RAM ASUS HD7950-DC2T-3GD5-V2 3GB Everything I mentioned is on on SSDs Resolution is 2560x1600 EFB Display Unit on my tablet, everything else is running on the FSX machine Updates everything to Navigraph airac 1407 Remark: I don’t use additional add-on scenery because I prefer a much inferior but mostly consistent appearance. Remark2: currently only using the 737 to fresh up my very rusty skills in a not fully unknown territory Thanks in advance for your help to get me on track! Best, Markus
