  1. SteveW, Wobbie and Sascha, Many thanks for your replies. As soon as I can get to a place with a good connection I will try these things. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness in responding to me. Olbalbal
  2. I use FSXse with Win7 and DirectX 9 For some months I have been using Meigs, Lukla, Friday Harbor and Kilimanjaro Airport. I bought these from Steam and they all were working fine. Then, all of a sudden, I am getting error messages for each of the four (2 error messages for each of the two parts of Lukla). The one for Meigs KCGX reads: Scenery. CFG File error. Local Scenery directory (KCGX\Scenery). In Scenery area 142 not found. The error messages for the two Lukla files, Friday Harbor and Kilimanjaro are similar. Please help me. Olbalbal
  3. turboken, Thank you for your solution. It worked and now Friday Harbor is displaying as it should. Many thanks. Tuke
  4. Thank you turboken. I will try to do that and let you know if it makes a difference. Tuke
  5. I installed the Friday Harbor FSXse add-on, but the airport runway and other things don't show up correctly. Please help.
  6. Thank you all....problem solved. I did have "Pause on Task" checked. Unchecking it solved the problem. Many thanks for your help. Tuke
  7. Thank you for those suggestions. I will work on that and post if it helps. Tuke
  8. Flying the A2A Comanche, the Quest Kodiak or the default aircraft, FSXse paused itself frequently. If I am in full screen mode, It take me to the Windows screen. Although,Task Manager has the sim still running. If I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del a second time, I go back to the sim. Running FSX in a window just pauses the sim and hitting "P" gets it going again. I have been using FSXse for half a year and never had this problem till this week. Paul Thorpe thought it would be caused by another application running in the background. I did go to W7 help and they said that I could see any applications running in the background by going to Task Manager and clicking the applications tab. There is nothing listed there except FSX, so my uncommanded pauses must me due to something else. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
  9. louisdecoolste, Thank you for your response. I didn't realize that a turboprop does not have a mixture control. The information that the lever that is normally the "mixture control" in piston aircraft is actually the condition lever in the turboprops solves my problem. Thank you for your help.
  10. Thank you for your reactions. Can't find anything relevant in the manual. Automixture is not checked. The Ctrl+Shift+F2 (increase slowly), Ctrl+Shift+F3 (decrease slowly) operate the mixture control not the condition lever. The mouse does not move the condition control. Any more ideas?
  11. I just bought the Quest Kodiak and find that the red knobbed “Condition Lever” does not work. Neither does it work in the default Cessna Caravan. Aside from the “condition lever,” everything else seems to work normally in both aircraft. I have only the steam edition of FSX.
  12. Craig, thank you for that clear answer. I will go ahead and get that. Uncle_adolph, thank you for your encouragement. Uncle_adolph, thank you also for pointing me to a discount.
  13. I want to install ORBX Global on my new lap top. I have installed FSX steam edition and it is working well. I have no other version of FSX installed. I am pushing 80 and am computer challenged. My question is: How strait-forward is the installation going to be. If it is complicated, I won't install ORBX fearing that I will mess up and screw up my system. Thank you in advance for any help that I can get.
  14. Thank you all for your help. I followed your suggestions and everything is working fine now.
  15. Something went wrong when I installed 10.35. Most of the default aircraft won't load and I get the error message that there is an "airfoil file" missing. What is the best way to un-install 10.35 and start over? Thank you for your help.
  16. I have the same problem. I can't turn the GPS on in the Caravan. How do I push the upper left knob. Clicking on it does not seem to work. I can turn the knob to increase or decrease the volume though.
  17. William & Rob, Thank you for pointing me to the avionics switches. I will look for them. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question. Tuke
  18. I bought the Grand Caravan from Carenado last week and it works well except for the GPS. I can't turn it on. When I hover the curser over the various buttons the curser does change to the appropriate form for manipulation the controls, but nothing happens. The GPS seems to be turned off. What am I missing.
  19. Many thanks to you all for your replies. I will work through your suggestions. Tuke
  20. I am new to X-Plane and am enjoying the experience. Would anyone have a suggestion for a modest scenery package that would enhance flights in a particular area? I would prefer somewhere in the US. It doesn’t need to be a big area, just somewhere with a few airports that I can fly to. I am using a Mac for x-plane that runs it very well, although my computer is three and a half years old. I have 115 gig of free space on my hard disk. I am not very computer competent, so will need pretty detailed directions on where to find such a scenery enhancement and how to get it downloaded and working in x-plane. It can be either free-ware or paid. Either would be fine. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me. Tuke
