  1. Ian, I'm chucking this into the ring re video drivers e.g. nVidia drivers. Have you updated the (e.g. nVidia game ready) driver recently? It's just that in the past I've had blips which then disappeared once a particular video driver version was updated or when I rolled back the driver! My suggestion doesn't sound relevant to you but I thought it would be negligent to keep quiet. PS I've got x-56 hotas. Stiff twist action on joystick but effective. (Joystick pan button for looking around cockpit on P3D. But for MSFS I have to use thumb-controlled small wabbly thing half way up stick to look around.) Stiff action on the thrust (and mixture) levers but effective and sort of satisfying. Thrust unit has lots of buttons to adapt to change according to your preferences e.g. park, gear, flaps, various lights. Spoil yourself! Get high(-est) quality (as long as you don't need PhD to understand it!). You'll be using the unit for years to come
  2. Hi CO2Neutral bloomin' well said, sir! I concur, and I bet so do a good chunk of the 34,000 viewers of this thread. With simming, looks ain't everything. It's got to fly good! Flying P3D v6 (and v5) is stable, controllable and immersive. You nearly always get to your destination, without drama. P3D v6 default scenery is hugely improved. MSFS feels, TO ME, like cycling to the shops on a narrow, winding and busy pavement ON A PENNY-FARTHING! (careful with the spelling). Precarious but I will continue to give a go, too.(MSFS is extremely visually appealing). I definitely agree, CO2Neutral, Lockheed Martin P3D v6 (and v5) is not dead. Very much alive, so please don't bin it or put into deep freeze. Most importantly, we all need detailed and realistic airports, please dear Anna Cicognani at ORBX etc. And much better quality aircraft compared to the defaults. Though copying over A2A's fleet is a great start (needing a tweak, please star Scott Gentile and team. And Carenado/Alabeo Golden Eagle C421 and Diamond DA-62 work very well (after their patch/fix is applied) Q. To cut to the chase, I would very much like to know if anyone has actually tried installing/running Vertx DA-62 (for P3D v4) into P3D v6? I know it doesn't work, without dark-arts and trickery, in P3D v5. I'll wait for replies to this question, and then I'll swig some ale for Dutch courage, and have a go myself (assuming I cannot damage my sim (?). Sean Maloney's version was ace (just like his RealAir Beechcraft Turbo Duke which works fantastically in P3D v6, though just for those who originally bought it many moons ago. Rod EGBB hot, too hot, beer in fridge for later or sooner)
  3. Hi dbw1 I think you can get the Real Air Duke (from the Real Air site) only if you originally bought it, several years ago The site asked for my first name, second name and email address. (It did not ask me for a longer key number; just as well cos I've shredded that many moons ago). In the installation process you see a column of options; FSX and then a series of early P3D versions. Don't be put off by FSX being a fixed and unchangeable selection. When it asks you where you want it installed, I recall (not so good these days near-on 70) that you browse and select C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\P3Dv5 (or ....P3Dv6 ......as appropriate) (For P3Dv6, it might then mysteriously find itself put (by LM's programming, I guess) in C:\Users\UserDocuments\Prepare3D v6 Add-ons\Sim Objects Airplanes\Real Air Duke....) Don't be put off by seeing an error phrase about not finding FSX root folder/file, I just ignored it. Also you may see a series of 4 or 5 error messages; just go ahead and ignore 'em. My confession, dbw1, is that I'm not tech savvy, so i hope you will get confirmation on correct process (maybe workarounds) from other experts on this site. You might even start a completely new thread to get them to see your request. Good luck, because it really is worth it! This is an astonishing achievement by the 2 guys at Real Air. Rod EGBB off to watch Man City v Arsenal
  4. Real Air Turbine Duke My appreciation DavidP for reminding me about this fiery beauty. For some reason, I remember not, I'd dumped it years ago. Maybe I'd found it buggy. Just been to Real Air site, which recognised me and no mention of a serial number, long lost, re-installed it successfully to P3D v5.4 and test flight EGBB - EGBJ. Excellent performance, distinctive sound effect, and what a looker! So, thanks to you, now I'm gonna install it to P3D v6. Badly needed cos the LM smaller planes are so crudely modelled. I sure I'll enjoy really this. 'Ere goes Rod EGBB weather's OK if yer a duck!
  5. Many thanks 787flyer, Rob and Bob Your collective advice is absolutely correct. It worked! MSFS (Deluxe) coexists with, and runs independently of P3D (which I still really enjoy P3Dv5 and I'm interested in P3Dv6's potential). Many thanks for giving your own time to help me. Now to find out if I leave MSFS in its default installation OR to open a new, distinct folder (i guess, in C :\program files) Then I really need to work out how to use my X52 joystick to view around the whole cockpit control panel (to work the various aircraft controls) Privileged Rod EGBB
  6. Hi RobPol471 how kind of you to take time and give me such definite evidence. So now I've already started this process to increase FREE SPACE on C :drive. Since your post, I went ahead and moved my all my Orbx Scenery (175GB!! how did that happen? ha!) to a new location that is D : drive. And you're among the first to convince me about the coexistence of P3D PLUS MSFS on the C :DRIVE (SSD, in my case). You've been a huge help I raise my glass of ale to you, Rob Rod EGBB thankfully cooler
  7. Up to now on recent posts, I've been waffling (sorry) about P3D and MSFS as if they are mutually exclusive. Maybe they are not. I honestly don't know! So I bet you folks will have experience to answer this: QUESTION: Is it feasible/possible to run MSFS from the same C : Drive, if that same C : Drive also has P3D (V5 &/or V6) installed (but not actively running); and vice versa? Treating like they are 2 completely different "games", obviously I'm not thinking of running then simultaneously nor linking/bridging them in any way. My SSD C : Drive has the two P3Ds installed and yet still has over 1TB FREE. Please take it that I have a very good medium-to-high end set up (Win 11, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090, i7-12700) BUT please assume I'm low tech in me noddle Rod EGBB
  8. Hi UrgentSiesta and you glorious daredevils What a great idea to start this listing. A good way to motivate the thumbs downers is to appreciate and congratulate the thumbs uppers Alabeo's Golden Eagle C421 works PERFECTLY and of course its always a pleasure in looks and performance to fly this bird. (Surely Orbx can be given the nudge to tweak all their stuff (global, regional, airports and other) Rod
  9. Hi DreamDriver having done battle with this a few times over the years, AND SUCCEEDED! AND IT'S WORTH THE SWEAT!, GTN750 can seem like a hike round the foothills, but I thought it better to write something for your quest, rather than nought; even though I still feel like I'm "winging it" a little. Maybe it's a good idea to uninstall your current version of Garmin Trainer (just in case it's the wrong one) (I admit I'm not sure about uninstalling your GTN750 (I think versions just install OK "on top" of one another, but I could be wrong) It could be a good idea to disable yer Antivirus (Malwarebytes in my case) because of false positives being quarantined/rejected From your start menu, click on Flight 1 Purchase Agent (or download it if you haven't got it) and it'll open a catalogue page and so select Utilities and then 'GTN Complete' and then download. Mine is version 2.20'. During download, It'll ask you to download Garmin Trainer (mine is v2.71). Go back to Start Menu/Flight One Software/Update tool and check you've got the most recent; mine is v1.2. /Open the Config Tool, select P3Dv5 & exit Go to 😄 program files/Lockheed Martin/P3Dv5/Sim Objects/Airplanes/Alabeo C421/ scroll down and double click F1GTN750 C421C. And remember to re-enable the Antivirus. PHEW!! Keep at it! Then there's also the relevant Flight 1 support forums; who are excellent (if busy and delayed) Rod EGBB
  10. Hi Ben and Neil Me too; engine sound drops away when ATC talks and returns loud several seconds after ATC is silent ..........GrrRR! In football terms, I've just awarded you Goal-Of-The-Month!! From Neil's links, I simply tried: Control Panel/Sounds/Communication/change selection from a reduction to "do nothing" Result = IT WORKS; no engine noise reduction; YOU'VE SOLVED IT Actually, this 'sound issue' felt even more of a problem as I took it to be a symptom that my system couldn't handle my newly installed P3DV5.1; and I was that close to hitting it with sledge hammer and reinstalling v4.5 hf3. (Though I suppose that could still be true). Many thanks, Rod EGBB
  11. Yes Bill That's exactly how I see it! You've stolen my words for this stunning and increasingly satisfying plane. Rod EGBB (a bit on the nippy side)
  12. Many thanks for this info. It could've been several days till I came across this tip! Vertx DA62, what a fantastic, stimulating product; last night short run EGFF TO EGBB; cruise (power 75%) at 155kts. 1.053 here I come (I guess I'll follow Sean's advice and uninstall 1.052 first and then install the update. I WISH YOU SUCCESS IN 2019! Rod EGBB
  13. ...… and thanks to your strategy and encouragement in January, Bert, I can enjoy Golden Eagle 100% without BSOD/CTD (and LM for v4.3 fixing the ATC 'no electric' bug) easily >60 fps, despite: 4xSSAA , texture resolution 4096x4096, water=ultra, (though road vehicles low at 16%). It's pilots and experts like you, Jesse, Venema's Orbx, and several other enthusiasts that make this such a brilliant hobby. Rod EGBB (off to roar across south Wales to Swansea in A2A Spitfire)
  14. Many thanks Jesse for your thoughtful message. I wouldn't have known about the update. v1.3 installed, GTN 750 integrated, and a classy, part autopilot, cruise from Guernsey, Channel Islands to Newquay, Cornwall; Orbx cloudy weather theme. Rod EGBB
  15. Hi Pivot, "Gloster Tower, Piper N6229P IFR to Birmingham, ready to copy" You're a star; YOU'VE SOLVED IT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH PIVOT, Why did the problem happen? If it's a P3DV4.2 bug, maybe it'll show itself again. But then I'm ready with the fix you've taught me. Have fun! Rod
