Is it possible that the MD is suffering from a memory leak in some scenarios? Ref the post Out of Memory that just got posted.

This is an old FSX trick was what I meant to say.

Not sure loading default aircraft first and then MD is a very good idea in P3D. This is annols FSX trick. It will for sure cause problems with some other add on aircraft in P3D.

I disabled SLI and tried again. Same problem with 8 FPS with RL and TG. Restart PC. FPS 30-40 GPU at 80-90 %. No flickering lights. Even if my FPS are not too bad, the picture (trackIr and Ezdoc) is not smooth. Not smooth as in not really playable. I can’t disable TG and RL with the load manager «on the go». I have to reastart P3D before it changes. Normal? Set everything back to SLI, but the PC was saying not connected. Tried everything, but could not connect SLI. Suspected a faulty bridge. I checked and found a new graphics driver. Installed and SLI OK. Tried the sim again. RL and TG medium, cockpit high. FPS 55-60 nice and smooth. Lights flicker, but I can stop this by rotating the switches up and down a few times until the flickering stops. TG looks really nice in the rain! I have a dual screen setup, but nothing fancy. An old Dell 22 inch for my secondarys, and a 24 inch Fujitsu/Siemens for my sim. Res 1920/1200. When my sim starts with 8 FPS both my GPU’s go straight to 100%. My RAM goes to over 14 GB. My CPU is happy at 50-60%. Restart PC and it (most of the time) it works as it should. I have no idea what or why this is happening. I have switched to other addons, and they work with normal FPS.

And I forgot, my PSU is 850W. Don’t think that is a problem.

Thanks for your time, Dave. I’ll give it a try when I get home later tonight. 1080 cards? They are hard to come by because they are picked up by people building Mining rigs for Bitcoins. And they drive up the price. I see rigs advertised with 10 GTX 1080 cards. Take care!

Intel 8700K at 4.5-4.7. 16 GB Ram. 2 x GTX 970 in SLI. I am aware the SLI is a headache, but the MD is acting differently every time i start it up. Just now my 8 FPS with RL and TG turned into 50+ FPS after a PC restart. I have a funny feeling the FPS starts to slowly decrease when I fly.

Not sure if I know what you mean? The only way I can turn on the instrument lights is by turning the dimmable panel light switch. P3Dv4. The only thing that happens is all instrument lights go to bright directly. And, yes, it looks like I lose 20 FPS or thereabouts when I do this.

Probably because there is no option to do this. Some have done some renaming of files to stop RL from working. Another way is probably to uninstall MD and reinstall with TG but without RL.

What Steve said! AS has nothing to do with the load manager wx request, it gets the wx from the net. Mine now works as it should. Tried several times today. Maybe the website was down or I had a connection issue when I could not get any weather. It is weird if it has worked a few times for you, that probably means you don’t have a firewall issue.

Installed the updated model today and tried with RL and TG enabled. FPS 8. Both disabled FPS 60-70. I have a SLI setup. But I have an issue with my cockpit panel lights without RL. I can only switch them ON or OFF and ANY of the panel light switches will control ALL panel lights. Am I the only one?

Nice to hear, but there is big difference in your setup compared to me and some of the others with FPS issues. You are not running your system in SLI as we do. And the problem is apparently related to this.

Where does it get the weather info from? I know the ACARS gets it from Active Sky, so that needs to be installed. So, I was wrong, the ACARS function does not work no matter what. Is AS needed for the load manager weather request to work? Not sure about this and I’m not home to check.

Haha, I don’t know. I know it happened two times, but I have so many sources for weather, I don’t use this feature much. Active Sky, Rex, Aeroweather, etc. It did load correctly the last time I used it, but I have reinstalled Maddog twice. The ACARS weather request from inside the aircraft FMC is cool! You can get your weather there.

What I do know is this; The RealLight feature eats memory. I would fly without Lights and Glass enabled until you know the aircraft works without them, then start adding loads from there. This aicraft is a blast when it works, and frustrating as xxxx when it doesn’t. It’s not a jump in and fly aircraft. It’s just too advanced for that.

Your path will be the letter for the drive where you have your P3D. Lets say it’s B. B:\Prepar3D v4\ Yours may be different depending on what you call it. It may be Lockheed Martin Prepar3D or whatever. You will find it.

Then you have an activation problem. Did you activate the aircraft via the load manager? Did you get an error message?

Just a suggestion, I’m not sure about the load manager issue. FSX and CTD with a memory hungry aircraft. Now, where have I heard about this before... 😀 Maybe P3D 64 bit is your solution? I’ll take my hat...

Don’t you have to load the aircraft before you use the load manager? Set up the load manager with 0 fuel then use the sim add on menu and transfer the numbers from there. If transfer from the load manager when the aircraft is loaded doesn’t work, that is.

I have had this problem one time. Restarted my PC and activated again. Try to type in your email again, I have heard that sometimes there is a «space» behind the adress that gets included in the mailadress. It then becomes xxxxxberlin.deSPACE and not xxxxxberlin.de

It will bite you in the xxx if you don’t fly it right. Just as the real thing. Good luck!

First time i loaded my Maddog I had low FPS. I reduced the P3D setting from Ultra to High and FPS doubled to 50-55. Apart from issues with P3D, PTA, RealLight and SLI, which killed my FPS and put both GTX 970 cards at 100% and my 16 GB RAM to 90%, issues I have taken care of, I was back flying at 50-60 FPS. My P3Dv4.2 flows better at unlimited FPS than any locked number. I had no change in FPS with load manager settings in medium or high. TrueGlass on or off. UNTIL I was on approach to an airport in snowy weather. FPS dropped below 20 and it was nearly impossible to fly. Memory usage was very high. After reading this thread I understand this probably happened when I switched on the landing lights. Thanks! I have not tried the updated Maddog yet.

Start the sim in the «ready to start» set up. Start engines manually. Do you have the same problem then?

IAS HOLD in the Maddog puts the throttle in CLAMP. You control the throttles manually and speed with the thumb wheel. It can cause confusion if you have a different speed in the auto throttle speed window. The moment you level off it switches to ALT HOLD and the throttle kicks in to maintain the speed in the window. Lets say you are in IAS HOLD and 220 kts. You forgot to change the speed in the speed window and left it at 300 kts. You level off and the throttles go to max to get you to 300 kts. Yes, you can use IAS HOLD, but you need to know what you are doing. And it is NOT the same as Level Change in 737. That mode includes autothrottle.

I’ve had the same issue a few times, with the same error message. Last try was OK. The ACARS weather request works OK all the time.
