Blacksquare Analog Baron, pass .pln files through to GNS 430
I only noticed the reverse. The mod has more features than the WT stuff that Asobo integrated into the sim. If there was a changelog or I noticed anything missing, I would probably work to add it myself. I've already made little fixes to other stuff like the G3X even though I don't like using that panel. Also, the G3X is an example of how Asobo neglected some stuff, and they should have contracted WTT, the company, to keep providing updates to all the avionics. I suppose all their efforts got redirected to MSFS 2024 though.

It works great. I only mentioned the naming part because some aircraft are outdated, but both the names point to the same avionics that have been integrated into the sim by Asobo. With the mod, you are getting about the same thing with little fixes, and the ability to load flight plans on the fly. The mod is open-source, and while it hasn't been updated since 2022, I didn't notice any shortcomings. I would compare it to how the Navigraph avionics plugins let you load flight plans from simbrief into the G1000 and above (for free).

Smaller-scale addons you would like to see? And my efforts.
I've started to fix little things in the sim. I've modded other games like Arma in the past, and I would like to know what some people think are problems that are often overlooked. Having got into the sim recently, I was discouraged by how the water runways were usually broken. Despite how accessible the scenery editor is, terraforming water airports had a lot of caveats and water taxiing bridges was a disaster. I was pleasantly surprised that MSFS had a lot to showcase with huge water improvements, and other stuff that showed they reached out to parts of the community, like the glider focus. If I start to release some addons, how do you think I should get feedback? I don't really use it too much myself, but I noticed all the tools that try to dynamically adjust sim rate with smooth turns were broken. So, I released Sim Rate Watchdog on flightsim.to. It got around 50 downloads, but no one really commented to say if it was working fine for them and if it was missing anything. I noted that it was a beta, and I was willing to improve it over time. The recent thing I've put together is a G3X AP menu compatibility for when it's controlled by external GPS, specifically the PMS50 GTN 750. With the external GPS giving guidance, I think you are supposed to be able to use the VNAV and APPR buttons from the PFD and default AP page, and they will actually arm themselves. I've created and tested that, but I wonder if it's missing anything to consider it a worthy addon even if the aim is to just improve compatibility at first. I'll also add that I thought the G3X looked awful at first even compared to the G1000 that doesn't exactly make you feel like you are in front of a real glass cockpit. Some of the planes that use it are still nice to fly though, so you can get used to it. Where do you think I should go for advice on modding or to talk to experienced simmers on what my mods may lack? What kind of things never really get fixed in the sim or what unique addons would take it to the next level? If you just want to throw ideas out, that's good too. Here's mine: I think there's obviously a lot of potential with what 2024 will offer. With the walking mode, I think you could probably make a mini-career mode (alongside the many career managers that will be preferred by various people) that resembles simple but interactive games like Derail Valley, where you are both delivering the goods and managing the cargo areas.

I am not sure why it doesn't load from the world screen. It could be a bug in the sim. In any case, there's a modded version of the 430/530 that lets you import PLN files. I assume it doesn't conflict even though you are using TDS, but it's called pms50-gns530 on github by pimarc. It covers the 430 as well. This doesn't apply to you, but I'll still mention it. You can also slightly modify the addon to include instrument html files for any aircraft that still point to WTx30 instead of ASx30. It was renamed to AS when the WTT instruments were officially added by the MSFS devs. This saves you having to update some aircraft that still points to that in their panel.cfg.

Next Prediction (FS2024)
They need to stop terraforming water runways for 2024. Things would be way better if they did nothing on the runway itself. Simply matching / relying on what water flattening is already doing should have been obvious. The default (flattened) water in the sim might be at the wrong elevation according to navdata, but that doesn't matter much. The surrounding and non-terraformed water is already flat usually, so you wouldn't notice if the elevation was slightly wrong by 10 or more feet if the whole lake or river was consistently at the same level. Terraforming runways like they do is a glaring issue to the point that float planes barely make sense unless you constantly go into the scenery editor. If needed, they can adjust the elevation in any GPS landing data to match whatever level the water is at. You end up with water walls you crash into or you fall off water plateaus if you need to taxi away. At the same time, rivers that are way too high compared to the surrounding terrain is also funny to see, but that's a different issue. Another possible solution would be to create a mod that flattens all airports with water runways that were autogenerated. It would be nice if you could preview elevation data in a tool and decide if you want to flatten it before you start the sim.

Core scripting breaks water taxi under bridges?
When you water taxi in a float plane, even under major steel bridges in cities like NYC, you get teleported up over 50 ft to the roadway or top of the bridge. The landing gear also auto-deploys as if it's doing you a favor. You can only tell it's doing this with crashes disabled (dev mode). Otherwise, it would probably seem like you hit an invisible wall and crashed with the black screen telling you so. I was in the scenery editor and trying to fix water elevation issues at various airport with water runways like CVP2 (with the Jacques Cartier bridge). I realized I was wasting my time because even if the water is flatter than some of the bridges in NYC and has no terrain issues below a fully-modeled POI bridge, you still get this glitch. Does anyone know if payware bridges and scenery were able to fix this prevalent issue? I guess it was an accomplishment to let you fly under most bridges, but this seems like a case of bad scripting. If you are flying with your floats barely skimming the water, you can still get teleported. I tried various other scenarios and workarounds in the scenery editor too.

WB-Sim 172SP not Starting
The counterintuitive part is that the throttle needs to nearly full open to start more reliably in some situations. Maybe this is true after you pump too much fuel in warm weather. Most other C172s from other creators allow you to just follow the 1/4 inch open (nearly closed / pulled fully aft) procedure, and it will start.

WB-Sim 172SP not Starting
I think it's a problem of fouling the spark plugs. I don't really know what I did, but after I got it to start, it had the volts warning on. I had to do the max throttle, lean until near cutoff to clear the engine before takeoff could be done safely. Back to the problem, I somehow started after using the external battery charger a few times and watching oil, VAC, and amps to get a feel for what the starter was doing and when to stop holding it. Throttle was all over the place even though I was aiming for less than 3%. Mixture lean to cutoff mostly. It mentions only 10 seconds of starting and 20 seconds of cooling off. This is warm weather at 69 F outside. I did try the fuel pump with throttle up and mixture full so that you actually see fuel flow increase. Doing this without throttle up may be a problem. It also can make the problem worse, but I still tried a few times. This was the floats version if that makes a difference. I used to just reset state saving and restart flight to get around this in the past. Also, Ctrl+E doesn't work if you are in this faulty state.
