Next Prediction (FS2024)

Featured Replies

So the last time I wrote about the importance of having good Route Planning and Charts in the sim, by default. It was pleasing to watch the presentation and find that the powers that be at MS had the same vision and recognised how important that is. And not only that, what was presented was superb, because the App includes Fuel and Payload calcs all in the one integrated App, which is so much better than Navi.

So... based on everything I have seen and read, I have reached a high level of confidence to make a new prediction for FS2024. And that is ........ the road networks, highways, bridges and vehicles and animations etc are going to get a Major overhaul. And driving will actually be a "thing" in FS2024. Reasons include: (a) Proper roads and vehicle simulation adds a tonne of immersion (b) Current implementation is substandard (XP is better) (c) They have not demoed or said Anything about the Roads/Vehicles so far (d) The Banner from trailer: "The Sky is Not the Limit" (e) I expect some career jobs will require driving, such as Ground Operations etc.

So that's it. While I'm not 100% I am pretty close on this one.

  • Doubt that.. the likes of Fenix, PMDG, and other add-ons are supposed to work with zero to minimal changes in order to maintain as-is functionality. It's only for enhancing them to take advantage of n

Apparently you're the right one... because somehow ASOBO / MS have figured out that most of that stuff is actually IMPORTANT for a representative number of simmers / potential simmers looking for 2024...

Let's wait & see.

For someone like me I am always much more concerned about the coherency of implementation of flight dynamics, weather and systems, but I agree that the "sugar" is sometimes a temptation for me too 🙂

very nice.

Unless PG is fixed at ground level this will be an absolutely useless feature. (In my opinion)

For as many things as I love in MSFS one of the biggest disappointments is landing a helicopter next to a PG building and seeing what it looks like from ground level.

So unless it is coupled with a complete PG overhaul down to ground level I would say I don't think so to your guess...   That's my prediction...

You can drive in MSFS today, there is nothing stopping you and vehicle add-ons available, the issue is doing it anywhere near PG.

Have a Wonderful Day

Source please.

Last year’s FSExpo presentation. They’ve talked about improvements for road traffic, air traffic and sea traffic. So far they’ve shown a little bit of the sea traffic.

About the OP, I doubt there will be driveable road vehicles. Most probably just AI vehicles. But there will be add-ons, that’s for sure (there are already some for 2020).

Roads, highways, motorways, bridges etc: yeah, that’s possible. They might have upgraded those. Even though it would be nice, that’s not really one of my priorities.

Correct they did say --> "Improved Vehicle Traffic"

Covers part of the Prediction. Am going to stick to other points also.

Looks pretty decent in X Plane. Makes a nice difference. Watch some videos on the Tube.

I have a different opinion here. To the point I used to disable roads for the orthos, back when I used XP11. XP12 looks the same. About bridges, overpasses etc, I agree with you, they look better in XP, for the areas not covered by PG.

Road signs, traffic lights etc are a nice touch, but they are too generic in XP. If Asobo ever ventures on doing that, I hope they do it right.

When I predicted default charts for 2024, I made the assumption based on MS claiming that the career mode would provide highly authentic experiences. Hearing Jorg say it was his idea and he did it because it was the right thing to do was highly encouraging! One thing it teaches us is that MS has the resources and the mindset to allow us as users to dream BIG. The fact that we're getting things hardly anyone expected is also an indicator that 2024 will disrupt the industry even more than 2020 did. November will be the start of something truly special.

We already know that vehicle traffic will be enhanced so I'm expecting more realistic behavior at the very least, with live traffic data dictating volume (not vehicle type) on the more wishful thinking end. Better looking roads will be a given with the new tech they are implementing. Considering how extremely detailed out in the middle of nowhere ground scenery looks, making convincing road networks should be light work for Azure AI. Good bridges will come in PG areas but I don't think it will happen across the board from launch.

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

I have never been a fan of default AI road traffic. It has always looked rubbish to me. The only traffic that I have ever seen that looked good was in the P3D version of FlyTampa Amsterdam.

My prediction for MS 2024 is that it will be delayed until 2025 when the likes of Fenix, PMDG and Leonardo will be compatible for  it and until then I will not be using it. SDK for MS2024 is not even ready yet and we are nearing August 2024.
