Next Prediction (FS2024)

So, turn off PG (which affects only a minute fraction of the world's land area). Advances in road scenery for MS2024 would be "absolutely useless" only to those who fly near PG areas and insist on having PG on. To everybody else it may be seen as a major advance.

My point was not around advances in road scenery which would obviously benefit everyone,  It was around turning MSFS into a driving simulator with drivable road vehicles as the OP implied...

If turning PG off is a pre-requisite then I would personally choose PG over drivable cars but that is why I prefaced that this was "my opinion."     In "my opinion" I would never be turning off PG (fly out of Newark and see the difference) for a drivable car.

Thank you for your suggestion though!

the road networks, highways, bridges and vehicles and animations etc are going to get a Major overhaul. And driving will actually be a "thing" in FS2024.

in either case this is all a hypothetical guess so no point debating our opinions.

I agree, but my point was that the combined PG areas currently cover only a very tiny part of the earth, and so most of the time it would not be a factor for most people. Of course, if your priority is driving in PG areas, that's a different story.

Filter on 3D PG Cities. I guess those of us in certain areas are spoiled and when you look at it compared to total Earth coverage it is just a fraction but still a good coverage area Cool map someone put together btw...

If you want to see it first hand, just take off from Newark and fly out to Allentown.  First of all the DEM data is MUCH improved, the intricacies of the hills around Newark airport (NJ isn't flat LOL) are massively improved and as you get out to Allentown the difference in road data and bridges is MUCH improved!!  That is supposedly a "preview" of what the '24 will look like.

Right as you cross the Delaware River from NJ to PA you can really see the improvement in the bridges as well.  They don't look like solid objects anymore but actually have an opening under them 🤯

It is a big improvement and though subtle it is definitely noticeable.

Is it double OMG worthy probably not but it's like adding UTUSA to P3D and seeing the difference LOL.  It's nice.

They need to stop terraforming water runways for 2024. Things would be way better if they did nothing on the runway itself. Simply matching / relying on what water flattening is already doing should have been obvious. The default (flattened) water in the sim might be at the wrong elevation according to navdata, but that doesn't matter much. The surrounding and non-terraformed water is already flat usually, so you wouldn't notice if the elevation was slightly wrong by 10 or more feet if the whole lake or river was consistently at the same level. Terraforming runways like they do is a glaring issue to the point that float planes barely make sense unless you constantly go into the scenery editor. If needed, they can adjust the elevation in any GPS landing data to match whatever level the water is at. You end up with water walls you crash into or you fall off water plateaus if you need to taxi away.

At the same time, rivers that are way too high compared to the surrounding terrain is also funny to see, but that's a different issue. Another possible solution would be to create a mod that flattens all airports with water runways that were autogenerated. It would be nice if you could preview elevation data in a tool and decide if you want to flatten it before you start the sim.

Moses and Aaron come to my mind...

The MSFS 2024 "platform" will be out in time. The problem, the most fundamental problem, will be the add-ons...

Agreed!

This new game is focused on mission based pilot career mode to attract newcomers and the console crowd.  They could case less about third party developers when it comes to the release date!

My prediction for MS 2024 is that it will be delayed until 2025 when the likes of Fenix, PMDG and Leonardo will be compatible for  it and until then I will not be using it. SDK for MS2024 is not even ready yet and we are nearing August 2024.

That and their servers will definitely not be able to handle the additional load they are going to put on it because they’ve decided to make everything streaming. You thought they had issues now lol just wait.

To be honest - I love 2020. Like others have mentioned - I also wont be a buyer until I can fly the Fenix and PMDG.
